I'm not really a fan of either army list, and how the points were spent. I'm also fairly certain a Tzeentch prince can't move onto the board and then gift of chaos someone - it's a start-of-turn power I believe. Warp Time combined with gift of chaos seems like a waste - it's not a to-wound roll, so it can't be re-rolled. Helps in close combat though, I guess.

Logan in a squad of long fangs is a waste of his abilities. He should have been out front mixing it up, but I guess he came in handy in his own way. It's always fun when games come down to the wire, and it looked like things were really tense!

Great report and great pics. I'd say both sides needed more troops. Killing all troop selection models is now a very common tactic to deny your opponent from claiming objectives. Thanks for the report.

You could use gift as it is a shooting power but you couldn't use warptime.

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Hey thanks for the replies guys. I guess I should have mentioned this in the original post ...but we know our armies aren't optimized . I could run Vulkan Mech Marines every week and he could run dual lash/PM/Oblits every week...but it tends to get boring! So, we tend to diverge a bit and add fun (perhaps non-competitive) aspects to our army. What I'm most interested in is critique on the presentation.

Does story/narrative style work better than player perspective? IE:

"My Wolf Guard moved up and shot the Plague Marines..." becomes "The Wolf Guard Squad advanced under a torrent of fire and the distinct whirl of the Astartes assault cannon filled the air, reducing two of the heretics into pus piles..."

Or does that make it difficult to follow what happened?

Thanks again for the replies!

Great report and pictures.

I think the pictures and text made it easy to follow the main thing happening.

It's some nice IC models in that SM army. You wouldn't have any close up for us ?

One of them looks very scibor-like. Looks great from distance.

It says at the start of the turn. That's before the movement phase, before any model moves. A unit starting the turn out of range or off the board cannot use it that turn.

Nice armies, but the sheer open-ness of the terrain ruins it for me.

My thoughts exactly, the game could have been much more interesting. When you add some more terrain, the relentless rule really comes in hand, footsloggers might have a chance, vehicles cause traffic jams etc.

Great report AoE and I love your armies. A real joy to look at. Got to say I like the fact these aren't copy and pastes of the typical builds we see. Nice to see some different armies mixing it up.

Cheers

Honestly I would like to see WAY more focus on your models, rather than what happened in the battle report. If you simply put up dozens of pictures with turn markings and no text, I'd be quite happy figuring out for myself what happened in your battle.

You guys are truly gifted artists, both modeling and sculpting. I remember a Marines vs Marines batrep on a massively terrained-up urban table that you out awhile ago; would love to see more pics. I can get a play by play batrep from anywhere; your models are what make your reports specials.

More pics, more terrain. I couldn't care less who won or lost.

More close up pics of each army please.

Many thanks for the compliments. Some good feedback as well. Specifically, I liked your post clams, insightful and useful as usual. I think that is the direction we might start going, less turn by turn....more 'story' with higher quality shots. Thanks again to everyone that took the time to comment.

very well done, clear and descriptive. a very impressive Batrep, the only beef I could possable have is with the Marines being Celestial Lions and yet not having the colors of the CL's but thats not really a concern, I give it an 11 out of 10
