I heard Dark Eldar in Feb, then Dark Eldar March, then possibly Dark Eldar in April. After that I heard some rumblings about a new Dark Eldar codex.

Well, a new DE codex will never appear.
I guess that after Nids, Necrons come next, then Tau, Blood Angels, and thereafter Eldar. Automatically Appended Next Post: BrookM wrote:Nids January 2010, after that nada.
Why do Nids need a new codex?
Their's is up-to-date, isn't it?

They invariably alternate a SM/CSM between all other codii for 40k.
We know Tyranids in January 2010
Which then leaves BA, CSM legions, =][= (thanks to Grey Knights) My money is on BA as they can shove out a list with x1 new plastic sprue, redo 3-4 metal models, and a new codex and they are done, with billions of dollars to be made from Assault Marine sales...
Dark Eldar (they have been working on them for quite some time already)

That is what I had heard, and what WD alluded to. Sometime in March I believe.
After that I have heard everything from DE to Blood Angels (which I think would be freaking awesome!)

I really wish they would do a new codex for the BA's and a chapter upgrade set while they are at it. They look pretty neglected.

I'm ready to spam BAs for Apocolypse (I want Coys 1,2,3 & 10) over the next couple of years but am limited to characters until they release a new codex (The WD one is a bad dream).
1 sprue ala the DA or the BTs and it is all good.

I'd love to see an official BA codex.
In 3rd ed, this chapter was one of the best SM chapters in tournaments.

From a practical standpoint, BA should be done before BT or DA, as those two both have bitz & standalone book. When that happens, I can't begin to guess. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's late 2010, to cap of the SH - Nid - BA trilogy...

I bet on BA. At GD UK, GW said BA are more close than we think, right? Ok, maybe we'll get... more marines! as soon as they can.

January - Nids. Their codex is the second from 4th ed I believe (with Tau right behind them in 2005). Their redo is not model intensive. We should get some new good stuff, but doesn't require an entire line reset *cough*Dark Eldar *Cough*.
After that is anyones guess although Blood Angels keep getting the mention. I have no basis for this, but I think BA won't be for another year, late in 2005 personally. They love to push marines at christmas (Space Wolves this year, Space Marines 2008).
That leaves next year open for another Xenos of some type. Dark Eldar aren't ready yet, so they are out, Eldar aren't that old, that just leaves Necrons and Tau. Necron codex is still a 3.0 codex, so even money is on them at the moment for a 2010 release.
Then again... what do I know. Not $*#@. We will probably get Space Vampires and Space Knights while the Space Monks continue to wear the dresses in the family.

A new release of BA would be a smart move,
since Space Hulk includes such nice BA Termies
such that BA Termies are practically redone.

Historically, Tau have been released half way through an edition and get outdated by the new edition rules.
I expect Tau not to be released until 2011, with 6e coming in 2012 or 2013.

I kind of expect GW's 40K release schedule to be:
- Xenos (Tyranids)
- Marine
- Xenos (Necrons)
- Marine/Chaos Marine
- Marine/ Chaos Marine (whichever the last one wasn't)
But who knows, after Tyranids everything is up in the air.

How many SM variant chapter codexes (like Space Wolves, Black Templars, etc) can we expect GW to publish?

My prediction is Skaven, then Nids, then beastmen, then something mariney then another apocalypse book with a plastic warhound, then tomb kings, then necrons then dark eldar in 2012, right when the end of the world happens so it won't matter anyway.

If we get Nids and BA in 2010, that's pretty much the releases for the year, right? Throw in a couple Wave 2's or 3's, and you'd have one 40k release per quarter. I'm kinda joking, and kinda crying. What was 2009? SWs, Planetstrike, and IG, right? Wave 2 Orks. Am I missing anything?
