Here's my AoBr Dreadnought, and i don't know if anybody else had this problem, but mine didn't come with a dreadnought-sized base...for some reason there wasn't one in the box (the 60mm one). Anyway, i stuck it on a 40mm base (terminator-sized), and used spare baneblade parts to make a scenic base so it was balanced:

My question is, if enemies want to assault it, how do they go about doing this on the part where the dreadnought extends over the edge of the base? do they have to be tounching the base, or touchin the model, or just within 2"??

help would be much appreciated!!

It should be on a 60mm base.

So buy one?

Honestly, the easiest thing to do is just stick it on top of a 60mm base and build up the debris.

If it was left out of your AoBR boxed set, then the first thing you should do is go back to where it was purchased and ask them for a base. Or call GW, they are usually pretty good about such things, especially seeing as how you are asking for a single large base, not a tank sprue or some such.

Barring that, I would build a base. Get some plastic card of a sufficient thickness, cut out a 60 mm circle. Much better than buying a bag of bases form GW so that you can get the single one you need.

Heck, if you just need it for the rules, then cut a 60mm circle out of cardboard, or foam core.

Yeah i'm good pals with the staff at GW manchester, they let me loot around in their bitz boxes all the time, so i could probs just get a 60mm base from there... never really thought about it TBH, was just too busy thinkking about how i could alter the rules when all i needed was another base!

That reminded me, a friend of mine took a 60mm "base" of foamcore, and just gouged out holes so a HWT on the 25mm bases fit flush inside. I cant see why you couldn't make a trench to fit the 40mm base edge into it. Paint it and you're set. Now you can use the 40mm base where you can, and if someone gets annoyed, just stick it into that base.

Good idea, but for me it would probably be harder to find some foam than a 60mm base. I think i'll make it stood on top of a 'mound' of debris which covers up the 40mm base, because since this picture was taken i have re-painted it and converted it into a venerable blood angels dreadnought. So bearing that in mind, a cool base might help it stand out and make it look more 'venerable'.

The foam idea is really quite ingenius though, you could cheat with in (especially in LOTR where they have to be in base contact with you'). A smaller base would mean less enemies could be in combat with you at once - in theory anyway.

...but i would never cheat!

Not a terrible idea if you have few other options. Better than that stupid cardboard idea someone floated a few posts ago, lol. I actually have used large flying bases for this when I ran out of HW team bases.

Litko make bases in all sizes.

And other interesting products...

It's not worth shipping over a single base but if you made up a larger order it would be OK.

Some people change all their bases from the GW supplied item because it's too thick.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

To be honest I'm not a huge fan, but the Space Corridors they provide are a masterpiece.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
