At first I heard about a sick Ork Mega force with new models , but now I heard that they aren't going to make anymore megaforces! Does anyone know why GW has stopped making them?

They were Apocalypse splash releases. Apocalypse isn't really new anymore.

I miss some of the Tyranid ones. They were GREAT deals.

..well... might well be a green Xmas for you perhaps ?

Special mega force style box sets for 40k and fantasy are due, with marines/Empire and orks/orcs at the very least getting them AFAIK.

EDIT : http://www.gamingfigures.com/

We all know that November sees the release of the new Skaven army book and new range of figures.

But did you also know that Games Workshop are planning some Warhammer 40000 releases and re-releases.

Re-releases include: The Imperial Sector(£48.95), The Imperial Strongpoint(£53.85) and the Space Marine Megaforce(£97.85 contents as yet unknown).

New release include: Ork Megaforce(£97.85 contents unknown) and the Fortress of Redemption(£58.70).

Yes folks, GW are releasing the Dark Angels Fortress as pictured in the Planetstrike codex.

Warhammer releases include the Empire Brigade and a Orc & Goblin Brigade(£97.85 each)

The release date for the above items has been confirmed as the 28th November. All prices shown above are Games Workshop RRP's. These models will be in the advanced order section as soon as we have confirmation of quantities available to us.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

It's nice to be vindicated on the Dark Angel terrain piece. I know that thing had to be an upcoming kit.

Yeah, I as well have seen it advertised but, as of yet, no images.

There should be mega-forces again. The release along Plantestrike, The Spear of Sicarius. Massive box, apparently over a meter long or something. Contains all the sprues of the listed models along with the few blister packs. There was also a lot of mega-forces last July. Two Space marine ones, a tau one, a CSM one, a necron one, an eldar one and a tyranid one that was double the price of a battleforce with double the contents and an extra fex. At some other stage there was an ork one, another tau one, i think there was another Space marine one and there was another CSM one. I do believe GW is less generous these days.

Was the mega force's content actually cheaper?

I mean , yes if you factor the Battle Force thats contained within it , but are the none BF content actually cheaper?

I'm pretty sure they were good deals. I don't remember what all came in any of them now, but the Tau megaforce wasn't too bad.

The SM, CSM and Tau Megaforce had 150 quid worth of stuff for 100 quid. I got one of each, so I can check the boxes for content:

CSM:
1 Termie Lord
5 Termies
8 Zerkers
5 Possessed
2 Spawn
Defiler
15 CSM (with two special weapon sprues, IIRC)

SM:
1 Commander
1 Dread
1 Razorback
1 Predator
Command Squad
5 Sniper Scouts
5 Assault Marines
15 Tac Marines (one special weapons sprue)

Tau:
2 Crisis Suits
3 Stealth Suits
Devilfish
Hammerhead
3 Piranhas
20 Fire Warriors
6 Gun Drones (not counting the ones on vehicles)

Conveniently that is exactly what the above Maelstrom link now claims!
