Abandoned by their birth-race, the citizens of the Dirac Prime Colonial Defense Force have found new allies among the Tau Empire. Now they fight not only for their own survival, but for higher ideals: unity, and peace.

Well, I finally got around to starting a new army. I have been a fan of the Tau ever since they were released. However, while I like their visual style, many of the models are decidedly "meh".

I decided this would be a good chance to put a spin on the army, and really make it my army.

This is the beginning of the rebel human forces of the Dirac Prime CDF!

WIP Troopers. These guys will count as Fire Warriors.

Close up of a trooper showing the head swap. He looks like he deserves a 4+ save, right?

Rawr! I am a Pulse Rifle!

Ugh, I hate looking at my own models blown up this big. It's a rough mock-up, but it obviously needs filing and filling.

This is the main bit I need to complete before I put the troopers' arms on. What could be going on with this shoulderpad?

Well, it's not much, but it's a start. I'll try to get those arms on in the next couple days, and get 'em ready for some paint.

Liking how the army looks like the main character from the Doom Series. The helmet is awesome.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

nice idea ive been trying to find ideas for my own Gue'Vesa that i plan on making by searching IG posts and see what conversions they have made. but now theres someone making a army for them! can't wait to see how this will turn out.

i would probably include a small squad of firewarriors (like a squad of 6 with pulse rifles) just so other people don't get into a fuss of if its a tau army or not

Well, a friend of mine (who goes by the name crossbonesx11 on dakka, check out his plog if you haven't already) keeps telling me that the IG breastplates look out of place in a Tau army. So this is another possibility.

The only thing I don't really like about this is the waistline, which is a little thin.

But what do YOU think?

Yeah the waist is a bit thin. You could add a little GS just in the bit between the chest panel and the legs and sculpt it to look like material?

Nice work! The visored Pig Iron heads are the most awesome

Flinty has it right: They are Pig Iron Heavy Infantry visored helmets.

I doubt it would fix the waist line problem but I think if you did scout legs, tau torso, cadian arms and pig iron heads it would look very original.

Man those helmets look ominous do they not?!

I am building this army 500 points at a time. For the first 500, I had been debating whether to use a squad of Kroot or a second squad of CDF Troopers for my second troops choice. And if I decided to go with Kroot, would I use stock models or conversions. Well, after the amount of work that have gone into this first squad (and they still aren't finished), I am leaning towards kroot. Stock kroot.

Anywho, here is my progress thus far.

Did some basing on the CDF Troopers. One step closer to painting!

Worked on the arms. Finished all 10 shoulderpads, still working on the rifles. All arms are awaiting greenstuff.

Early WIP of their transport. This thing still has a way to go.

Until next time!

So sticking with Cadian torsos? Arms really turned out well and liking the base. What color are you going for again?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Do some kind of tyranid conversions for the kroot.

I like where your heading but myonly complaint is in the rifles. If you could fill the gaps and smooth them a little I think they would look awsome. Otherwise cool stuff cant wait to see more.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Very good start you have here! I second empchild, the rifle is looking a bit odd. Can't you just use the pulse-rifle from the tau? I believe that if they are working with the tau, the tau rather give weapons of there own then modify the in there eyes primitive lasguns.

Got a paintschedule in mind? Or did I overread it?

Note; Really admire your work on the shoulderpads! Gotta be nerve-wrecking work?.

Everyone has a choice. Me, I choos not to make a choice

I can understand that he wants a unique rifle and thats cool. I just think he should bridge the gap in the conversion thats all. But going straight plasma would work well too.

Yeah he plans on smoothing the gaps over with GS when he said the arms need a little GS he meant the shoulder pads and the guns on the other arms.

Are you going for tracks on the 'fish? Some sort of humanised Tau technology, like the rifles, would be awesome.
