Title say s it all. Who placed? Who played? Who's going to the finals?

I played in Delaware. Nice mix of armies and best of all.....Not a single demon army to be found! Very cool! The armies that placed are:

1st: A stegadon stomp Lizard army. 2 slaan, 4 EotG, and not much else

2nd: I think this was a 3 Stank/popemobile empire army

3rd: High elves. Teclis and magic heavy

What about the rest of you out there? How'd you do?

Nice double DoC + VC result. Would anybody have expected anything else?

I'm thinking it'll be DoC winning the final, though.

No way! Chaos dwarf for the win! Actually the guy who won in Delaware wanted chaos dwarfs as his army for winning. He was told that they would send him regular dwarfs and chaos bits. Boo!

Phoenix Games, Atlanta:

1st: Empire (3 stanks, popemobile, KF on dragon)
2nd: Orcs and Goblins (pretty basic list)
3rd: Tzeentch Daemons (flying circus)

Tower Games, Atlanta:

1st: Dwarves (8 bolt throwers, Thorek, Lord in Hammerers)
2nd: Lizards (Slann and Stegs, either Old Blood, Croak or second Slann, I don't know which)
3rd: Daemons (scittles, pretty scrubby from what I heard)

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Neat, I know the two guys that placed first and second in Delaware (it was a STank/Warlter list).

Staunton, Virginia:

1. Demons: Kairos/Keeper leadership bomb army
2. Vampires: Graveguard Bunker + Vargulfs and Wraiths (me)
3. Demons I think??

I don't remember the third place winner so if anyone else was there and knows they can fill that in.

After 10 results posted, we have:
14 DoC
4 VC

2 Dwarf
2 Empire
2 LM
2 DE
2 HE
2 O&G
1 CD

Clearly, DoC are the top pick, then VC, with everybody else picking for scraps.

How saddening.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

That is just totally pathetic. Far too many Daemons, you can really start to see the unbalance that has become GW.

Fair play to those Orc players that made it that far!

I'm not at all suprised by the number of Daemon wins, it's been the same every round. Obviously if you want to win, you've gotta metagame against demons to a large extent and hope you don't draw too many foes where that will hamstring you.

If you include Spellbound's result:
15 DoC
5 VC
3 Empire
2 Dwarf
2 LM
2 DE
2 HE
2 O&G
1 CD

I'm kind of surprised by the relatively low DE showing.

I'm not.

If you want to win out, you take Daemons, or Vampires if you already own them.

Empire, LM, and DE are the best of the rest if comp or other restrictions are in play.

But for pure power, you take Daemons. It's that simple.

Well, yes. I understand that, but I thought that DE were still strong enough to contend pretty well against DoC and VCs.

It's pretty evident that most people decided to just go DoC.

We don't know the entries, just the results.

Personally, I'd like nothing better than to see a field of over 80% DoC at the Ard Boyz finals...

It'd be an awesome display and worth getting some reactions from the WFB design team.

True, though I would venture to speculate that it suggests a higher turnout of DoCs (from the current results, nearly 2:1 DoCs to everything else combined).

With you on the second bit. Not like it'd 'cause positive change, though.

Of course it wouldn't case any change.

But it'd give the WFB crowd a stock question to ask at every design seminar.

Right after the token Dark Eldar question, the WFB guys get to ask about Daemons:

"So, were you guys high when you wrote Daemons of Chaos?"

"What gak were you smoking when you were playtesting Daemons of Chaos?"

"Did the entire design team just say 'feth it' and do Daemons of Chaos as protest?"

Inquiring minds want to know!

I did end up going home with my DE but placeing fourth and fighting the wining player to draw made me feel really good about it. Next year Ill try again, and wont jump on the Daemon bag wagon.

I qualified for the Semis with DoC, but for the actual event, I figured I'd bring something else. I knew I'd see a lot of Stanks and Daemons, so I brought a Thorek Gunline, and won pretty handily.

My list;

Thorek
Fighty Lord on Shield, 1+ Rerollable, >5 St becomes st5, 4+ Ward in a unit of Hammerers
2x Rune Priests, 3 Dispell Runes, 1 Spelleater
Unit of Longbeards(for Panic rerolls)
Small unit of warriors (10, just for core selection)
2x 10 Thunderers(again Core choice, and somewhere to hide the 2 RunePriests)
8 Bolt Throwers, all with Engineers, all runed up differently. 1 St9, couple of 8s, and 3 of them with the Rune of Burning
1 Organ Gun

Worked pretty well in an environment with almost nothing but Stanks, Stegadons, Greater Daemons.....

Maybe not the best plan, but if you can roll average or above with those BTs, then you should have a good day.
