If anybody knows the user "hulksmash" outside of Dakka, could you please ask that he get in contact with me regarding the army he is painting for me? He seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth over the past couple weeks and I was hoping to get an update as to the status of my commission.

Hulksmash lists Blackmoor as a friend and as known outside of dakka.

AFAIK Blackmoor is well known on the tourney circuit and may well be able to let you know more.

I've already tried PMing Blackmoor. Sadly they do not keep in regular contact :(

I'm not looking to start screaming "OMGSCAMMER!!!" yet, I just want to know that he intends on sending my stuff off like he has promised in his previous two e-mails.

The first two parts of my army that he painted went along smoothly (though the second batch was sent out a couple days late, which I don't care about). My only concern is that our communication has gone from 2-5 emails a week to >1 every week.

I've tried getting a phone number for him, but haven't had any luck with that route.

Be patient. He is contacting on weekly basis.

May be on vacation.

The bartertown thread is from about a month ago and doesn't look like it is resolved yet, either. Hopefully he's just bogged down with too much to paint / etc! and can come on to resolve this.

Been way over a month.. you lose a lot of stuff?

I have played in few tournaments with him, and hung out with him a little at them.

But he is not a close friend who's personal info I have.

I haven't "lost" anything. Like I said, I'm not convinced that he has any sinister intentions here, I just want someone to see this who knows him and say "hey dude, you'd better contact this Bunker guy, he's a little worried because you two have lost touch" or something like that. I'm sure something has come up in his life, I just want that confirmed so I can sleep a little easier knowing that my models are on their way. I was promised three weeks ago that they were done and being sent, now hopefully he just had something come up that prevents the sending, and not the painting, as I've already given him my down payment.

As for what he has of mine, it's just the last little bit of my Death Guard army:

30 Tactical Marines
1 Rhino
6 Power Fists
2 Meltaguns

The worst part about all this is that I wanted him to paint up 10 more Chosen and some more Tactical Marines for me and was hoping to have had them on their way to him by now.

Again, if anyone knows hulksmash IRL (I won;t give his real name here until I absolutely have to, for his own privacy) please, PLEASE let him know to get into contact with me.

Arg....I had his phone number and e-mail address; he did a commission job for me.

He lives in California; he does have a blog for his work. Unfortunately, I just cleared out my messages not 10 minutes ago and thus deleted his contact information as well. :(

Yea, I'm still waiting on stuff from him too. It seems like he is just outa communication atm. (maybe vacation) He said he was sending my stuff to me, but I have yet to receive it. I figured I'd give him another couple weeks before I worry.

While Porkuslime (BT admin) said in another thread like this that you cant go to BT to file a report on him since it took place here, why not go to his advertising area there and ask? he is a paying advertiser for bartertown. And while I do agree with pork in that by thier rules you cant post a BTR on him, you can at least go see whats up and more importantly, see if there are others besides you and the other guy above.

What are you implying? Because he also advertises on Bell of Lost Souls.

I'm sure that nothing was intended IronHide. RogueMarket is simply trying to help out a fellow Dakkaite.

As you've mentioned it, perhaps the Bell of Lost Souls admins might have some contact info for him as well? If you ask, the worst they can do is say no.

Well, using the name and address from his website, and going to whitepages.com, shows no one by that name living at that address. Oh, the address on his website is for an apartment complex.

Take it for what it is worth, because he could just be unlisted.

I had no clue that he was advertising on BOLS.

I only knew of BT - hence my response.

Just thought it might be 'easier' to contact - as hulksmash was, i think, semi active over at BT - thus maybe getting a response or contact meet would have been more probable, rather than here on Dakka - where hulk doesnt seem as much 'invested' in.

Which is kind of scary.

If they were on RM i'd hit em up - but it seems like they are on BT and Dakka. Not saying the sites should be responsible for their actions - no way.

Its just that, it might be easier on checking all ends to see whats happening where, and see if there are any logins difference between the sites and etc etc.

Because every thing is eventually connected around the 40k online world - and it resonates all over the interwebs.

As the administrative advertising contact on Bartertown, I have Brad's phone number.
I have called him and left a voice mail with my home phone number offering to help him with resolving these issues.
If I get any information, I will update this thread.

IMO, most commission people (mainly the ones who are in it to subsidize their income) don't take the time to think up a business plan or come up with a budget for said business, which will eventually equal disaster for them.

Not to mention the other fact there are those that run a commission buisness AS their source of income. They take the time for a buisness model, plan the budget, do everything right and still have problems come up.

Add in the fact real life problems such as family sickness can delay things. Im hoping hes just backlogged due to an emergency and will get caught up. People forget just because you hire someone, doesnt mean they are a slave with no real life that can complicate and slow things down.

That all said, even with my worst problems I can stay in contact... so it is confusing how hulk has more or less vanished for some and not for others.
