Hey there.
High Point, NC has some pretty big events that get hosted in a warehouse there; the last tournament I went to there had 30+ people. Also, Greenville, NC (4.5 hours away though) two stores that support miniature wargaming, and there's a tournament at the Game Shack ( http://www.greenvillegameshack.com/) that would be worth your time to attend if you could make it.

Don't forget Heroes and Dragons on Bush River Road. Lots of 40k going on there. Particularly now with a campaign in its final weeks.

Borderlands is always where I go when in Greenville. Ages ago when I lived in Columbia, Hero's and Dragons was my home away from home. Neverheard of this gameshack, but looking at their website their gaming space looks really limited. Borderlands has over a dozen tables. Hero's and Dragons had maybe a dozen or so tables back in the day, I can only assume they have upgraded since but haven't been back since Christ was a Corporal, so I dunno. Both Borderlands and H&D had excellent people, however. And that is what counts.

That gameshack is my garage.
I enjoy drinking a beer or two while playing, thus the garage. H&D is fine. Good folks.

Well if you ever feel up for a couple of games, I usually play at the Book Exchange on Sundays and Monday nights. I know Monday nights are a little rough as you're about a 1-1.5 hours away but Sundays could be a blast. Just look up Comics-n-games.com in Augusta, Ga

I'm in Cola, also. We're getting together a 40k club of sorts. It's a bit like herding cats, but we've met a couple of times.
I'll check the time when I get off work, but we have a gaming night coming up-- I'll PM you the info.
Also, if you drop by Heroes, the board in the game room has tournaments posted, and you can generally find a pick up game on Saturdays and Sundays.

I will be in Columbia on Thursday, might be able to hit some gaming but not sure. What time do things heat up at Heroes and Dragons? Might be able to hit some mid-day gaming, but might not know til the last second.

Usually pretty quiet during the week (in re: 40k, at least), but Saturdays and Sundays there's always a game to be had.
If you want to get a game this Thursday, PM me. I work nights, so usually available during the day/afternoon.
Oh, and the Columbia 40k club is having its next gaming night on the 25th at 6. PM me for details (as it's at a member's house- usually 5-6 tables available for gaming, and space for painting).

Funny, was planning on heading to Heroes and Dragons on Thursday with a friend. He usually goes out to Augusta from Lexington, guess its my turn to head up to SC.
We'll probably be there around 3-4 on Thursday if you're up for a game or two.

I live in the Lexington/Red Bank area. I'm about 20 mins away from Heroes and Dragons, however I have a game table and plenty of terrain at my house as well. I haven't played a game of 40k in a couple years, but have still been expanding my army. Currently I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, and also I work nights, and can play games on work days until around 1.30 - 2.00. I'd certainly be interested in playing. I collect Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Daemonhunters, and Witch Hunters. I won't play my Dark Eldar until they get a new codex, and I could always bring my wife's Orks.
If you want to schedule a game sometime, PM me. I'm on the forums at least once a day.

I'll have to let my buddy know about that since he lives in the Lexington area. He's pretty tired of me beating on him and well needless to say, he needs some variety. The look on his face when he was facing Mechanized Imperial Guard at 'Ard Boyz was that of a man who just defeated himself.

Hmm.. He may not be thrilled to play my Inquisition IG. Most of my guys are mounted in Chimeras, and I've got lots of Leman Russ tanks, and 4 superheavies. Still, I do have my other armies that I need to play as well. No matter who I play with, it will just be nice to play.

Gotta say Heroes and Dragons is a pretty nice place. Good gaming space, pretty cool staff and well...magnificent terrain...I have a feeling I'll be visiting there often in the future. Apparently there is going to be another Tournament there in the next couple of weeks so I'm pretty stoked about that.

I'd have to agree. I'd buy more from them "spur of the moment" if they kept the stock up. They have always just been awesome for ordering things special for you if you want them though. They also have that frequent buyer card thing that is pretty nice. They punch a hole in your card for every $25 you spend, and after 10 punches, you get a $25 gift certificate. Not sure how long that will last, but I sure hope they keep doing it.

They've been doing it for about a year-- I know it definitely encourages me to buy 5-10$ extra when I'm short of an extra punch.
Ben just got a bunch of 40k stuff in yesterday. As the tournaments have been getting larger/more people have been coming to the store to play, it seems like they've been stocking more-- mostly of the newer stuff, which I guess is good and bad.

Is anybody in the Columbia area able to get together on Tuesdays or Wednesdays? Those are my days off, and it would be nice to play a game some time. Does anybody still play 4th Edition? I do as they nerfed vehicles in 5th ed. My friends and I play 4th ed, unless there is a USR that is in the book that is only in 5th.

Nerfed in 5th? Vehicles got SO much better in 5th- that's why mech is so competitive at the moment. Cover saves for vehicles, single damage table, glancing hits can't destroy, etc...
I actually really like the changes in 5th-- makes horde/footslogging armies playable with run moves, and, while CC is a bit more brutal (Ld modifiers in combat/overrun, etc...), they toned that back by disallowing consolidating into new combats.
