Luckily I had a ruler, and was able to cut my wrists and pass out from blood loss before the pain became too much.

Well, as creeped out as I am by Lady Gaga, she's much more attractive than Amy Winehouse. We need a new bleach-blonde pop queen, so that Madonna will finally admit that she is just another old lady in slutty outfits. (Perhaps Madonna could join Cradle of Filth, she's scary enough!)

I saw a picture of a musician with straggly hair, smeared eye makeup, in a top hat and tails with a riding crop in a magazine a few days ago and immediately thought "Alice Cooper". Second look revealed, No, the wrinkled skank in the picture was Madonna.
Who very scarily looks more like Alice Cooper than Alice does.
Lady GaGa does less than zip for me, but then I can't actually stand her style of music.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

Strange makeup aside of course...
I was thinking about from seeing her on tv promoting her first album, she was a curvy lass back then and nice looking and seemed very friendly and amiable: Here's a before and after shot.

There we go. I now approve of this thread, on an eye candy basis.
I don't get the video, but it's Simone Simons. What's not to like?

Gaga knows how to make a video, no doubt. She could eventually make a Madonna-sized mark on pop music, I think, but I wonder how she will handle things as she gets more and more mainstream attention. And how weird to see her with (apparently and comparatively) less eye make-up/teary-eyed. She's a neat girl for sure so I hope she can keep her edge.
Listen, don't expect a lot of open-minded discussion of music on dakka. The I'm-so-butch crowd doesn't like music that isn't (a) source material for Metalocolpyse (if they're young) or (b) inoffensive enough to be played in an elevator (if they're older).

Lady Gaga is the latest popstar so people just seem to assume she must be really attractive. People are also making a big deal about Miley Cyrus being this stunning looking girl when she's just a normal looking kid, not unattractive by any stretch of the imagination but not a standout stunner.
Lady Gaga is a bit unusual because she isn't that good looking compared to other popstars. I think this is because she's a product of the studio writing system that ended up a popstar, rather than having been selected as a singer.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
Miley Sirus definitely looks like . . . well, like a lot of girls. (For proof, see /b/.) And Gaga isn't that attractive obviously. Hence all the makeup/veils/sunglasses/etc, I think. But I think you're selling her talent pretty short, sebster. She's no assembly line pop star. I really think people are too dismissive of pop overall. (Not that there's no reason to be, after the 90s.)
my main problem with her songs is thought thier doesn't seem to be any creativity in lyrics in her songs its the sane 3-4 lines repeated over and over. its the same thing with modern rap/hip-hop. I can understand if it doesn't focus on the music because its about the lyrics, but there's no lyrics, what happened to early rap when artist actually put effort into what they were singing.
oh and metal is still king

So, how old do you have to be to get into the B category? I really want to know, so I can go jump off a cliff before that happens.

Ask MGS when he's done grooving to Low Rider. Frazzled probably knows, too.
WAR = lift musik?!? w.t.f... I want to ride the lifts where you work mate, all we get is Cee-lion D-on or Michael Bolt-on and that gak makes me frenzy.
Son, i was enjoying The Snares whilst sipping on my morning coffee. I despise GaGa and the rest because they are mainstream bland gak and it annoys me the kids aren't hunting down the alternatives these days, just sitting there and getting it fed to them cos what gets offered by the corporations is usually what they want you to listen to, safe and nondescript and forgettable in 2 years.

Low Rider was the intro theme to the George Lopez Show.
Now who's mainstream?
My point is that pop does not equal crap. And Gaga certainly did not come out of a can like the 90s jailbait starletts and boy bands. Gaga is the type who redefines a piece of mainstream even as she gets integrated into it, like Madonna. The chick's got talent. Maybe read up on her before you dismiss her.
Woe to those who hate a genre music because others like it!
I'm not getting the point you're making with Venetian Snares . . . clarify?
