The classic Ninja Turtles from the 80s cartoon team-up with the new Turtles from the 2003 animated series and then travel to the world of the original black & white comics to fight the "one true Shredder". Tokka and Rhazar will also be in it. And Krang. Man, I missed Krang.
In case it wasn't obvious by now, I'm a huge Turtles fanboy. I grew up on the old series and the movies and really enjoy the new show, or at least the first 4 seasons. This movie is ultimate fanservice, sort of the thing that stupid Smash Bros. clone failed to be.
It'll air on Nov. 21. and will hopefully hit the net soon after.
I remember (and still have) the first six issues of TMNT. I remember a street gang is slaughtered by the turtles in the first few pages. I kind of liked the first live action movie. Beyond that, no. But this actually seems interesting if nothing else. I will have to give it a look.
Yes, they are on both counts. The TMNT fad hit SO fast it wasn't hard to understand the need to protect them as I was a.) already an avid comic collector and b.) I was already protecting every comic I had bought even at my youthful sixteen years of age.
Most I have actually sold off but these (and a few other titles) I keep for nostalgia. I love the first few issues. The art itself is so unique.
Heck, I even kept my old Palladium TMNT Role Playing game just for the art and stats.
Didn't Eastman and Laird have a huge falling out during the early nineties?

As far as I understand they don't really talk anymore. Eastman has moved on, Laird is usually a creative force behind new material. Though that might change since Nickelodeon now owns the franchise.

Nickelodeon? Yikes! But I think they do have many of Cartoon Networks old talent (back when they were good and willing to take risks) if I am not mistaken. It would be nice for the boys to be good again although I suppose more "slaughtering of street gangs" is probably out of the question.

TMNT hasn't really had dignity since the first few issues of the comic! It is (as are most modern shows, comics, movies) simply a product. If it can be repackaged and sold again, they will do it. Whether it is TMNT, Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones or whatever.
I also have the original black and white comics. That was pretty much the beginning and end for me as far as the turtles go, with the exception of the 4 player arcade games. The first movie wasn't to bad. It taught me that I need to know what a crumpet is before I can understand Cricket.

Have you seen the 2003 series? While still a "kids show" they take a lot of inspiration from the original comics, sometimes even whole story lines. It also has some influences from Gargyles and Batman TAS.

Dignity? Have you ever seen the old cartoon? You know, the one were the Ninjas travel around in a blimp!
What'd you think of the newest movie Anung, with the Aztek thingies and 'Kill Bill'-isized April and such? I somewhat inadvertently caught it a while back and didn't mind it, though IIRC the speaking animation for the turtles was a bit yappy ...

Didn't we have this conversation already?
TMNT has it's flaws. The Monster plotline is bit bland, the villains not that memorable and while I can accept that April took up some fighting while she lived with the Turtles, there's no way she's a match for Karai. Don and Mikey don't get enough screentime.
But I still really liked that movie. As weird as some moments may be, it threats the material with respect. The scene with Leo and Raph on the rooftop: "who said I wanted to be lead?", is the defining moment between the two. Apart from that, I really liked the action and the Turtles looked great imho.

Man, TMNT gets my head all confused with nostalgia and stuff
Only quasi-related, recently I've been dredging around for Street Sharks stuff, for more teenagers-turn-into-mutant-heroes action. Not as great the second time around, but still fun. Annnd I also find myself continually watching auctions for the old Dinosaurs for Hire comic series, then conveniently bailing at the last minute. We'll see if I can man up and get my dinosaur-humanoid-mercenaries-kill-everything fix on.
I just watched an episode from the old show and one from the new show. I definetly prefer the 2003 version, though the classic Shredder arguing with Krang is always good for laugh.

As opposed to Shredder being Krang?

Well, that was a bit weird, but at least the utrom shredder is a credible threat to the Turtles. The purple Shredder is more like Cobra Commander.

No doubt. I liked that the Foot actually felt like a threat in Turtles '03, even if the series went to some weird places later on(Turtles Overdrive).

I know what you mean. The first season was pretty cool, felt a lot like Gargoyles to me somehow. It got bit weirder in season 2 and I wasn't quite fond of the idea that Shredder was an Alien, but it worked out pretty good. I really liked Bishop, he was a pretty cool villian overall.
The "lost season" was strange but was overall a nice epic ending. Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer on the other hand proved how a series could get ruined by the marketing department. Making a series about Batman in the future worked out quite fine, but with Turtles, they basically abandoned everything from the previous seasons.
The whole concept for Back to the Sewer with its "cyberspace" angle was terrible and full of clichees. And why exactly do the Nurtles need black suits when infiltrating something? Being a green ninja worked out fine for the rest of the series. And Cyber Shredder was just stupid. They also never really explained why he suddenly is such a big threat after the Turtles even beat the Daemon Shredder.

So, I just saw it online. This is the very definition of fanservice and a fantastic finale for the entire franchise (before Nickelodeon will feth it up ).
Go watch it! I'm sure it won't be that hard to find.
I wasn't allowed to watch TMNT growing up (I know, right?) but this movie was freaking epic. I can see why people liked the old series I love how Dan "Yugi" Green did so many of the voices. I can only imagine they weren't all that close.
