The new Red Warhammer and Green Warhammer 40,000 army cases from GW are now available. Contrary to earlier information, these cases contain 3 trays of standard slot foam for small figures and one large block of pick-and-pull foam for vehicles and other large models. These are identical in foam content to the Blue and Grey cases released previously and the original Green army case from a few years ago, but this time the cases have game system logos on them rather than the standard GW logo. These are limited quantity items.

Frankly, I'd love to have one or both of these and given the sturdiness of the shell of these cases I wouldn't have a huge problem with the high price if the latches and hinges were of equal sturdiness. However, my son has a broken latch on each of two regular GW figure cases and a broken hinge on one of his Blue army cases. The latches and hinges are definite weak spots and likely fail points on what are otherwise extremely sturdy cases, but broken hinges and latches can render these expensive cases useless. Until the quality is improved in those two areas I likely will not be buying any more GW figure cases.

wow I wonder when they finally wised up on the whole pick and pull foam. Was it when army transports and great compamies like battle foam started getting good business forcatering to gamers.

IMO, the vehicle foam is rubbish. If you look closely at the picture, a rhino chassis type vehicle is 6 pluck foam squares long. The pluck foam is only 12 pluck foam wide. So you can at most fit 4 rhinos in an inefficient manner in the pluck foam side if you want foam between the vehicles, or 8 rhinos if you don't mind them rubbing against each other (which defeats the whole purpose of vehicle foam).

Terrible layout.

Those cases will not even hold my tyrant guards... imagine the rest... Not versatile and dated solution...BF kicks this one butt by a large margin.

I made a mistake... You can fit 5, two parallel to the length of the case, and three perpendicular to the length of the case. Still isn't very efficient.

I can fit 4 rhinos in a Sabol tray. This is...not very impressive.

About 3 or 4 years ago when the first green case came out. It might have slipped past you. The red one had large model foam.

Hmm, unless i count wrong , isnt it supposed to fit 6 Rhino chasis type of tanks? Say it is , but then its missing 1 center foam that divides the tanks.. since its 6 blocks across

I actually like their hard cases
I also Love Battlefoam, and how well it fits in there protecting my models.
I'll take 1 of my 30 odd Hard cases over my 5 soft cases every day of the week.
There is no issue with quality on the soft cases, but I've had a gamer numpty step on my soft case and destroy my Eldar army, where the hard case would have at least stood a chance.
I'll buy these because I've missed out on all but the red warhammer one that came out 3 years ago, and having this many cases, different colours does help.

The hard cases are nice but the pick and pluck foam is not why I bought a couple GW cases. Sigh. I guess I'll just buy those battlefoam inserts like I was planning.

GW cases + battlefoam inserts seem like a better plan than just these.

BF are still better.

My main problem with GW's pick an pluck is that it's not glued to the bottom.

I've had about 3 broken hinges per 100 cases that I sell through my shops. So yes, it happens.
But I've never had a problem getting a replacement case for a customer that came in with a broken hinge. Have you called GW customer service about it?

What's the picture on the front of the red one? I can't tell what that's supposed to be.

I might get one of these. Call me crazy, but I Like the GW cases, and I need a case that can hold a few dozen small things, and a half dozen biggish ones at the moment, and this looks like it would work.

Well, i am glad, i bought a trolley jesterday (Samsonite Something), that holds quite a lot of trays ... for 39 eur.

Are the trays the same that Feldherr / GWINDI is offering?

I've pondered over this for the entire day then relised. You will have to buy two for the pick'n'pluck to work properly.

Why will you have to buy two of them?

To get the most out of the pick 'n' pluck. In both 40k and Fantasy, you have more than just a few large or unusual models, which is more than one case worth of pick'n'pluck can handle.

Ugh another attempt from GW to sell those craptacular army cases. They didnt work when they first brought them out now they tried a half ass attempt at pull out foam..... I'd rather put my money into custom cases from Battlefoam. At least they did a good job with their tool set.

A ton of people still must buy GWs overpriced hobby stuff or they wouldnt keep producing it at such insane prices (namely the crap like saws, vices, etc)

Gaaah! Theres not enough room for 3 leman russes a chimera and 2 sentinels....dammit...does anyone know thye dimensions of the cases??

I have 2 cases with GW Pluck n Pick and its bad.... really bad... They dont hold much and if you try to get the most out of them by leaving only one layer of foam between items... that one layer between the items will not take long too come out as well. So instead of having 5 rhino sections in the foam, give it a couple trips to your lgs and yall have one big area!!!

I dont know if they have changed it but this was the case for both of mine... Its quest depressing to be honest.. I would advise against getting GW Pluck n Pick although I admit that the cases themselves do look nice... 2 of my GW Cases are broken in some way too... one of the large ones had a pole thing (Dunno what to call it) in the back for opening the case break off. so now the top cover of the case completely comes off...

IMO Dont buy GW cases if... if you actually want to protect your already overpriced plastic... spend the money to get something better

Wierd, as far as hard cases go, I own somewhere around 20 GW cases (4 big ones), and about 20 more plano/doskocil cases. The only ones to break were 1 doskocil case (the sliding lock broke....when it was stepped on...and my REALLY old GW case (the old one with the stickers circa 1989?) which finally fell apart at the hinges.

How are you guys breaking that many of the things?

The only problem I had was the original foam in the new style cases was too stiff and could actually wear off paint after a while. But they changed the foam.
