Id have to put down The Elder Scrolls Morrowind as #1. I played that game on the xbox for honestly, a good solid year. And I still put it on the PC now and again just to play it.

Close to that tho, is most definitely the Hitman series. I play the hell out of those games.

I used to be a big gran turismo/need for speed underground fan. I literally could not be beaten at need for speed underground. I won a local tournament by a serious margin lol.

Omg you children. Best game ever?

Starwing. No, not the crappy US Starfox, but the UK version Starwing. Best Game Ever. I still play it now. Yes, I could play Dragon Age Origins, Fallout 3, Oblivion et al, but Starwing is the game I play when I want just mindless entertainment.

However, not to say more modern games are not good (well, nothing in the past 5 years has been anyway, with ONE exception).

My Favourite games would be Deus Ex (the first one ), Freespace 2 (which has had an open source rebirth ), Silent Hill 2, Morrowind and of course Final Fantasy

On the Final Fantasies, #5 is the best. #6 is also good, as is #9. #7 is a pile of overrated crap, #10 was ok but let down by awful voice acting. #12 was interesting and enjoyable actually.

And of course Portal.

PC - WoW, without any doubt what so ever.

Console - Silent Hill 2 or Super Mario Kart, although there are other games that muddy the waters. Stuff like Doom (PS1,) Resident Evil 2, Road Rash 2, Toejam and Earl, GTA Vice City, Dynasty Warriors 3, Powerstone 2 and Halo.
A bit harder to pick a console game tbh.

My personal favourite is 'Hearts of Iron II' (a grand strategy game about WWII, or Football Manager 2008.

Gathering the Informations.

Pft. My favorite video game, ever?

Easy.
X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, specifically Balance of Power expansion.

I could not get enough of flying a B-Wing. I racked up so many capital ship kills in multiplayer rebel v. empire matches, it literally wasn't fair anymore. I could bring down anything short of a Super Star Destroyer or multiple Star Destroyers(Victory class, I could take down four before I had to rearm and turn around to launch again...but Star Destroyer Mk. IIs? Far heavier shielding/armor plating. They required rearming for each kill, and a Super Star Destroyer required multiple rearmings if goings against them solo).

Hell, I still remember my best match up. The folks I played with, an Echo Squadron if I remember right, we got set up facing an offshoot of 181st fanclub members in an asteroid belt. They naturally picked to play as the Empire. So, we get the assignment that the Rebels get in that case--which is to ambush an Imperial convoy as it enters the asteroid field.
Their fleet make-up, capital ships alone:
2x Corellian Corvettes
3x Nebulon B. Escort Frigates
1x Imperial Star Destroyer Mark II
4x Victory class Star Destroyers

Now, the objective was to kill at LEAST a fourth of that. The first decision we made was to smoke the Mk. II right off, because that thing could really mess your day up. So, I take in our little bomber detachment. Three B-Wings, loaded for capital ship killing using the Heavy variant of Proton Torpedos. We break in behind it, and find out...
The guy controlling the Mk. II didn't have the shields up. Ooops...
It didn't even take the normal six volleys from each of us. It took all of three to slag the bridge, and move on to destroying the rest.

I just remember that as one of those amazingly cinematic moments. There was something gorgeous about seeing that Mk. II go down in flames, and knowing it never even got warned that we were there

Huge Total War fan, with each game being better than the last (with the exception of Medieval II)

Operation: Flashpoint, both the old one and Dragon Rising. The realism element makes it a lot more fun for me than the Call of Duty-style "2 to the chest, one in the face" and then keep trucking games.

I don't deny that MW2 is much improved, but COD4 pissed me off so much, the multiplayer was sooo dodgy (despite the fact i was good at it!) and I've never liked the feel of COD's single player...

Oh, completely forgot Deus Ex! That game was freaking amazing! Can't forget Duke Nukem 3D either!

Also, the Netherhood was great, not that anyone's played it...

When the PS3 came out I found Motorstorm to be surprisingly enjoyable. (The savagery of the crashes were what did it for me)

As for other games, the Total War series has had its moments. But further back I liked WarCraft III. almost broke my heart when the Brought out World of Warcraft. I knew then that the story would never advance.

Honorable Mentions goes to:
-Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom
-Battlefield (The one where you are the average rebel or trooper in a wholescale battle)
-Halo
-Overlord
-The Witcher (had it's 'moments' )
-Sins of a Solar Empire. It did have weak points, and I found it frustratingly hard to form solid alliances at first but it did challenge me greatly.

Special mentions should go to Age of Empires. (The first one). I got it free in a box of Nutrigrain and thus my journey unto the realm of geekdom began...
