Fantastic Planet.

The entire thing is animated in this style and it is about tiny humans who live as pests and pets on an alien planet.

I saw Gummo when it first came out (when I was 12) and it scared the hell out of me.

I've tried to watch Eraserhead, and just could not sit through it. It's not just weird, it's off-putting in a way that I can't quite describe.

My favorite strange movie is Brazil. You have to watch it more than once just to figure out what's going on.

As for Brazil, you have to watch any one cut of the film several times to understand it. Each cut delivers a significantly different story.

2. Dr. Calgeri:(if I spelled the name right) About an insane psyciatrist. There were two versions, silent and one put out in the '80s. Both strange.

3. Martin: A guy thinks he's a vampire. The ending totaly takes you off guard.

Caligari is impressive, so isVideodrome for messing with people.

As a boy Something Wicked This Way Comes and the Black Hole scared the jeepers out of me. Trapped in hell in my robot assassin bothered me for some time, as did the scene in Superman III with cyborg Vera.

Naked lunch is weird, no doubt - it took the genius of Cronenberg to match the looniness of WS Burroughs.

Although Cronenberg's Crash was also pretty strange. Videodrome is his as well (and so is Existenz).

Brazil is up there, I am sure there are others, not that my mind can focus on them.

Oddest scene I've seen of late is in some odd Welsh set Horror movie with aliens in it. The girl from Bits is in it (Emma Booth,) and theres a scene where a fella gets on a combine Harvester and chases aliens around with the Wurzels tune playing.

Not sure if thats funny or surreal, although the aliens seem to forget they have ability to dodge.

There is another scene in it a well where a sexy body/ugly head alien queen gets off with some overweight computer geek.. thats somewhat disturbing.

Can't remember its name sadly, it's been on the Horror Sky channel a couple of times though.

edit - checked wiki.. 'Evil Aliens' apparently.

Existenz rates quite high on the wackiness scale and it's one of the few films that Jude Law is actually good in.

Can't remember who directed it, but The quiet earth is pretty strange too; scientists manage to kill everyone on the planet except those who were about to die anyway. Think it was made in the 80's.

My choice...

What an oddball film on SO many levels. The casting choices are odd, the story is odd and, well, and honestly there is nothing not strange about this film. I loved it if for no other reason than I think, at its heart, Richard Kelly was making fun of popular culture and specifically the very people that funded this film. Well, I love and hate this film as it is just strange whether intentionally or not. I only wish I could have seen the original edit.

Thats what I was going to put down as well. Sweet jesus that movie was all kinds of WTF moments. Im STILL trying to figure out that weird..... man turning into a giant bug/giraffe thing and sleeping with that bell boy or what ever he was. I cant really remember because the scene was so....well WTF

And Brazil looks so odd I think I want to watch it
