Forever alone

Warriors of Chaos: Chaos Warriors w/ Mark of Khorne. I never leave home without them.

O&G: Black Orcs and Black Orc Bosses. The reduction of Animosity's effects is a blessing.

Dark Elves: Sorceresses, duh.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Dwarves: organ gun, hammerers, ironbreakers

dark elves: sorceress, black guard with ASF and the war hydra

lizardmen: stegadon with bow, stegadon with EOG and stegadon with skink cheif.

daemons: doesn't matter everything is broken anyways

O&G- 4 spear chukkas (my next tourney I am taking 2 BUT I am also taking a rock lobba and 2 goblin doom divers and I'd get slaughtered if I had 7 warmachines)

Orcs and Goblins: Agreed on spear chuckas, I'm also a fan of fast cavarly as flank protectors. And if you're taking Night Goblins, then Fanatics.

For fun choices: Giant, Trolls, Squig Hoppers.

Dwarves: I always try and fit in some miners, because I love the idea and the models. Also, I love Rangers. Lastly, you gotta have a couple of bolt throwers.

Empire:

Steam Tank: At least one, it always makes people freak out for some reason, plus they are so awesome.

Cannons: Two at a minimum. Tons of fun watching units that are trying desperately to get at you flee after loosing rank upon rank of units.

Tomb Kings:

Ushabti: Cause they can kill things

Casket of Souls: Melts faces

High Elves

BSB w/ Battle Banner - I usually take this in either a spear unit or a DP unit. The combat resolution bonus is just insane. Being able to take a charge on the chin with your spears and repel just about anything, and literally crush an extra d6 of vampire fodder is nice. And being able to charge into something with some DP and cause them to have to roll insane courage is just nice.

Archers- sadly I find that a min unit of these is almost mandatory to take, not because they are very good but because HE need the core and they can be cheap for what you need.

Phoenix Guard - A great solid unit that can house important items or banners (such as the banner of Sorcery). They can really anchor a middle section and draw some fire while staying around.

Makes me sad that no-one of you remembered this.
EDIT: Man it was said? Misread, sorry.

High Elves (IMO):
- Swordmasters
ASF 2A WS6 S5 hits per model? Thank you!
- Repeater Bolt Thrower
Got a Giant? No more. Got a unit of Chaos Knights? No more.
- White Lion Chariot.
D6 (+1?) S5 hits + 2 S5 hits + 2 S6 hits. Ah, and also causes Fear.
- Mage
Cheese cheese spam spam.

Lizardmen:
- Engine of the Gods
Obvious choice, it says that it's God's engine, you must have it or the Old Ones (read Jervis Johnson) will get angry to you!
- Stegadons
Big dinosaurs are fun.
- Saurus Warriors
They just are
- Temple Guard (with Slann).
Ld9 Stubborn Cold Blooded with 2 S5 attacks and still a 4+ save each anyone?

You MUST take these guys to even use the army, so it goes without saying. I was under the impression that this was a thread about what units YOU feel you need to take when playing an army out side of the usual rule-musts.

Jin wrote:@nyyman - you consider HE Mages to be cheese?

Umm, yea. I play them and never go without them. Well ok, not maybe cheese but over-effective. But it's only my opinion, so don't get mad at it.
And to combatmedic, it was only humour (so-called trolling).

Not mad - just surprised. They're not bad, and admittedly the High Lore is solid, just wouldn't say they're over-effective.
