must admit... that 40 inch flat panel TV for $350 has me tempted to put on the old football gear and brave the crowds.

but i work 3rd shift... so going shopping at the butt-crack of dawn for me is like going shoping at midnight for you normal people.

though I might bring a video camera down to walmart and film the 300 pound grandma getting trampled over a $75 blu ray player. Then I can sell my video to CNN so they can show the carnage to the whole world!

Apparently wal-mart is going to force people to do things in an orderly manner in the stores.

You will have to form up a line at various departments and the men/women working there will hand out the various items people want. First come first serve basically. Also, crowd control will be in effect. No trampling to get in. Lines will be formed outside the door and only so many will be allowed in at a time.

It sounds good in theory. Let's see if it works in practice. Wal-mart is going to do everything it can to avoid the fiasco of last year.

I'm thinking of braving it just to look around. $3 small appliances sound nice.

If you google "black friday 2009" you can see a copy of the "leaked" ad for next week. Some really incredible deals from movies to small appliances all the way up to tv's and blue rays. 50" samsung plasma for $600 is a really really good deal.

I don't think it's bad. It's bad that someone died last year because of mob mentality but most businesses in the US run incredible sales for one day (black friday) to do 2 things.

1) Helps them clear current inventory to make room for next years inventory (as anything not sold by the end of the year cuts deeply into the stores profit margins which affect the share holders and company stock)

2) Helps draw more customers into the store to generate more revenue for the store. Selling products for less than wholesale (and having worked retail I know these things) wouldn't make sense year round but every store participating in black Friday sells more in that one day alone than they do between September 1st and January 1st of the following year.

I'm surprised people don't try buying the shelving and display racks (or maybe some have?)

I'll be working. 6:30pm thursday night til 7:30am friday morning. Overtime + holiday pay. ge tthe same when I go back in on Friday night.

And I'll really have nothing to do either night.
