With the new North American Tournament Circuit, are you going to be playing in any more indy GT's then you would have otherwise? I know I will be.

What I'll be interested to see is if some good players start winning Best Overall in a few of these events to limit the people trying to get to Vegas.

If a person wins more than one spot at the Vegas final and that said person does not defer his spot to the next place winner... that said person is a huge douch bag.

I don't know why you say that you will see a lot of WAAC players. There are a lot of paint scores and comp scores at these tournaments.

If anything, with all of the soft scores there is a chance for some home team shennigans, but not WAAC armies.

I think he is saying that with such a hefty final prize, people will game the system and stretch rules as much as they can to gain an advantage and win the 'phat loot'. Like ask their opponent if they can switch bases on their models, or fein ignorance on their armies rules. Stuff like that.

Personally, I think the Indy GTs themselves will be pretty much as they have always been, made or broken by the way they are run and the caliber of players that attend them. A golden ticket as a prize is not gonna change em too much. However I do think some of the smaller cons could see more folks attend now that they are officially officially 'on the circuit'. Don't see that as a bad thing though.

Each tournament will send two people to the nationals. If player A and player B win those spots, but one can't attend, then player C will be given the spot.

If Player A wins a spot to attend nationals, he can still win other tournaments, but will not block someone else from attending. That spot will then go to the 3rd place winner.

It won't be possible for some one to win more than once, and 'block' someone from coming.

So is this the Best Overall that gets to go to the tournament? If so, then presumably they'll be taking into account comp, painting/modelling, sportsmanship etc....?

If GW is promoting all aspects of the hobby, they have to take the 'soft' scores into account. Hopefully this will limit the amount of WAAC players, right?

Does anyone have the 'guidelines' they talk about?

Actually, should Ard Boyz NOT count towards the Vegas Final for this reason?

The WAAC players will bring their pro painted armies.

If you look at the results of the poll by far most are not interested in this new system.

First welcome to trolle country. Trite indeed.

Also I never posted anything about it before, just gently calling you out on your hypocrisy. Like this gem.

Coming from the guy whose half of his BA army is pro painted? In your defense you have been honest about that, so I commend you. I just don't think pro painted and WAAC should automatically be synonomous -- or maybe it is?

Do you have some info that's not posted? Because all that the GW site says is "the top two finishing places" will receive the invites. Nothing about only be able to win once, nothing about defrring it to someone else if they can't go or have already won an invite. Nothing along the lines of what you said. So if you have a source, tell us. Don't just post an unsupported statement.

Sigh. Yes Don, I do have info you don't have. Since I'm running four circuit events, own two stores, and have monthly meetings with GW, I tend to get a bit more information than the average person. Sorry for not documenting my sources for you. The last meeting was yesterday at lunch. (I had a very nice plate of prime rib.) Most of what we talked about was the plans for the upcoming GT circuit. Two of the questions I asked pertained to 1) What if a person can't attend Vegas? Answer: The invite passes to the next person and 2) If a person has already got an invite to Vegas, and wins another Answer: The invite passes to the next person.

Now, the irony of it is, while I can tell you that my 'source' is the person in charge of the GT circuit, it doesn't really 'support' it better than my first post. It's the internet, We could both be one legged albino eskimos, posing as gamers on Dakka.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I will be going to more tournaments than I would have been. For example I did not like the Broadside Bash last year and would have taken a pass at it, but because of the circuit I will be going again.

I do think it will make for a much bigger turn out though for the events on the calendar.

Agreed. This move by GW supports independent tournaments a number of ways, the most obvious being that it will drive up numbers at the events, making it a lot easier for the TO's/Clubs to break even. And if they make a profit, increase the quality or scope of the next years events.

My real question is where is the support for the South East?

"They have a wide geographical spread across the North American Continent."

WTF

Looks like the closest event and for someone who lives on the southern east coast.. Dallas or Baltimore do not count.

nice...really nice...
