He who writes the rules. controls the game

People are upset by the way GW treats its customers, so what are you going to do about it.
Boycott ? they proberly wouldn't notice the drop in sales.
Buy off third parties or ebay, they still get your money, though not directly.
email or phone them during christmas, good start It will get their attention, but may not work.

OR
Take wargaming back into your own hands.
Rewrite the fluff. organise and write new rules,( DO NOT USE ANYTHING THAT IS GW IP PROTECTED)
I.E space marines instead use astral or stella armies ETC.
Orks would be orcs, Ogryns would be space Ogres.
Make the rules downloadable,, via all fan sites.
And make it so people can use any models they like from any company.
there must be enough input from dakka and all these other websites to make this possible.

I guess my new battlewagon, sorry I meant war wagon will have to wait. GOOD LUCK WITH THE BOYCOTT you have my support, for what its worth

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

GW is FAR, FAR, FAR from running the wargaming community.

Even suggesting that is an insult to all the other Wargaming companies out there.

I have no idea what you're insinuating, or why there's such a bewildering amount of caps in your post.

No, GW does not and will not "run" the wargaming community. They own their own niche, and that is all. They wish to expand that niche, but it's too big a hobby to say they run it. It's like saying Electronic Arts owns the video game hobby.

They write the rules for bloodbowl, they say what models can be used.
They write the rules for warhammer 40k, they say what models you can use.
Seems they have it under control to me.

GW doesn't run the wargaming community. There are a whole slew of companies out there making games with no interference from GW whatsoever.

There are even quite a few rulesets out there that allow you to use whatever miniatures or fluff you want.

GW certainly controls the 'GW hobby'... which is their right as the creator of their products. If you have a problem with their business practices, there are plenty of options open to you beyond rewriting their game settings in your own words.

I'm going to go ahead and lock this one for flame prevention. Feel free to continue the discussion in any of the numerous other threads discussing GW's business practices.
