This is a pic of my Chaos Dread Wolf Squad I'm working on. I made these termis using a Space Wolf Terminator box combined with a Chaos Terminator box to create some unique, and rather rad, looking termis! I'm using them for chaos, so I made them look more chaos than SW. Anyways, I'm having issues choosing a color scheme! The base storyline for the squad I'm thinking of will be something like;

The Dread Wolves were once a devout sect of the Space Wolves marine chapter, fighting in thousands of galaxies for thousands upon thousands of years bringing light and justice in the name of the Emperor. On one particular mission Terminator Wolf Lord Fenrir the Hammer was sent through the Warp after a particularly brutal and elusive Bloodthirster named Kain. In a brutal battle Kain was bested in a one on one confrontation with the Wolf Lord Fenrir. However the cost was grave to the lord, becoming consumed by such bloodlust and rage in the battle that he fought like a possessed demon himself, using tooth and fang, as well as his legendary hammer Skullcracker to best his foe. Before fading back into the warp, Kain told Fenrir that his bloodlust this day was just the beginning, and indeed it was.

Over the next century Fenrir and his brigade followed the Emperors will, but always teetering toward the brink of blasphemy. Fenrirs bloodlust and feral rage showed no bounds, his hand covered in the blood of enemies. This inspired his men on to newer, more bold acts of ferocity. None can know exactly what caused the sudden change, but in a battle on some remote planet of the imperium Fenrir finally snapped. Screaming and roaring like a possessed wolf, he began slaughtering everyone in his path, friend or foe. Possessed by such rage and utter bloodlust none could stand against him, and any who tried to stop him were slew. As he bathed in the blood of his enemies, Khorn took notice, feeding his lust and adding to his strength.

Fenrir, in the service to Khorne now, went on a purge of his troops. All who did not swear alligence to his god were immediately slewn, their heads ripped from their shoulder, skulls taken to adorn his fellows armor or weapons. Thus the Dread Wolves were born, and thus they remain, joining any legion or group in battle that will heighten them to greater glory and more blood for the blood god!

The guy in the cloak with dual hammers will be my model for a Chaos terminator lord w/ MoK. Yes, I know, Khone prefers axes, but as an ex-space wolf (and seeing as TH's are so rad) I figure staying with his weapon scheme as a SW, just count them as a Power Fist, Power Weapon, or a Demon Weapon, depending. I could say that after going over to Khorne his weapons became demon blessed, together forming bleh bleh bleh which counts as a Deamon Weapon for Khorne in all respects.

Anyways, ANY suggestions for a color scheme would rock! I'm thinking Black armor w/ dark grey trim, blood red skulls, white tusks, and make the fur white w/ grey drybrush. I was also thinking Red Gore armor color w/ black trim could work as well.

Erm... thousands of galaxies? Change that to thousands of planets. And I'm not sure about the Lord's name since the Space Wolf planet is called Fenris. The idea of a small group of SW going too far into the beast sounds like it could work well. Sort of like the wulfen mutation, but instead of something genetic it is entirely psychological. And I think it entirely fitting that the Lord would get a backhanded compliment from a bloodthister, especially if it was ripped apart by tooth and claw. It is bloody enough for Khorne to approve.

Colours, I'd suggest a really dark blue-grey sort of colour, with maybe a metallic trim. Bronze or gold to tie it to Khorne? I don't think red would fit the models, and it'd be nice to see some Khorne troops that aren't red. Although a deep bloody red could work as a spot colour.

You realise that 40k's official 'current' date is 40,999, and that humanity has never made it out of the galaxy safely, right?

ok well theres loopholes in my fluff, but thats what editors are for, right? lol.

I don't know if some of those weapon choices I can see are permitted in the CSM codex.

Could be wrong though as I don't have a copy on me.

I would suggest a slightly reddened SW colour scheeme to show their origin, and also the way they are now headed.

I would certainly look into doing a tester painted up exactly as a SW, then use some of the blood coloured inks on it to try and make it look like the armour itself is changing colour from the edges and recesses... kind of like how most people seem to paint horns... dark at the base and fading up to a lighter colour, only this is red fading to SW blue/grey.

I like that idea a lot! I'll pick up some fenris grey today and base em, what would you suggest the trim on armor to be? maybe black?

And yeah, TH's aren't in the CSM codex, thats why I'd use it as a "counts as" deamon weapon, power fist, or power weapon. undoubtedly theres SM that go rogue with thunderhammers, but due to it not being in the dex, its more of a looks bad ass/fluff thing.

But anywho, here's a site you can make the color of csm's. Sadly I haven't found a terminator painter yet.

I think a darkened fenris gray with the armor trim a reddened bronze would look really nice. Red rivets and horns that fade from a red to grayish/ blue or white color. The eyes red from the bloodlust contained within the squad. Well, that's my 2 cents.

Take a look at the various schemes in the Chaos Marine book. The Skyrar's Dark Wolves scheme sounds like it'll fit the bill here.

Going from the photo:
Codex/Adeptus battlegrey with silver trim on the shoulders and a silver 'maw' around the vox-grille.

Replace the silver trim with red, and add some liberally flicked blood spatter--voila!

hiya, based on your story this might work. the main idea is that bodies still have the grey of the space wolves but its become darker and more dirty. the trim and the left arm is in honour of the blood god.
