Here's my list:
Dead Kennedys (all time favorite)
Cockney Rejects
The Clash
The Explosion
The Vandals
The Sex Pistols
Bad Brains
Televison
Dropkick Murphys
My punk is very limited. I've listened to a lot of others but those are the only 3 I like, DK on top of the list as that wasn't listed in any particular order.
--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.”

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
Dropkick Murphys
Flogging Molly
Social Distortion
Misfits
Sex Pistols
B.A.A.L.
Casting darkness, deep inside your mind
Screaming razors, resonating down your spine
Wearing you down, I'll haunt you where you sleep
Vulnerable, I make the guilt sting
Fear of the dark Bathe the world in spite, it keeps you in place
Growing nervous Abused humiliated, naked and ashamed
I will find you My mouth is full of ruin, I breathe it into you
Princess chaos I'll set the world on fire, I'm gunna start with you

Yeah The Clash are the best punk band ever easy, Joe Strummer was a genius.
That aside, Greenday isnt "real" music?
Im aware they arent "punk" but its "real" music surely?
I like Greenday....
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The reason ive never really got into music in the way that many people are, is because i find people that are to be pretentious and irritating. Not all of them obviously, i know albatross personally for example, but i think he is one of the few people who really revolve their lives around music but leaves me to my business! Does that make any sense?
I mean, of course i like music, in that i listen to it when im pottering about at home or driving or working out like most people, but you know, the whole type of "analysis" thing and/or reading music magazines and such, i have never been into because i just hate the majority of the people that ARE into that kinda thing.
I have genuinelly wanted to punch people in the face, when i am listening to something that i like and they start basically insulting me for it. In every other walk of life you dont do it, you dont walk up to random people in the street and say "your dress is disgusting" but apparently these poncy music student types think it is entirely acceptable to walk up to me at a bus stop or on a train and say "haha you like X you must be an idiot"
Anyway yeah, I LIKE greenday, i dont think it is correct to say it isnt music? What does that even mean?

+1 for the Dead Kennedys, and indeed pretty much any and everything Mr. Biafra has done, dug his Lard stuff as well.
Hmm.. apart from that... Compulsion, Bad Religion, Crass, some of the early Butthole Surfers stuff, D.O.A.,
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Of course Green Day is 'real' music. Just some people are err, snobs.
But, saying that...Green Day really lost any respect I had for them when they hired a session guitarist to play with them live, only to stand in the shadows of the corner of the stage playing a solo that Billy Joe Armstrong was pretending to play. Musicianship means a lot, well at least to me.
Going back to the snob thing it works both ways. You get people who say, "Oh yes, I listen to and can like anything...I LOVE music", which pisses me off. People trying to out do each other when talking about music grinds my gears, it gets old real quick.
I wouldn't buy a Green Day album but I would listen to it if it was on, especially if im drunk. I will however moan first though

You are full of wisdom, Sir.
Particularly on the subject of pretentiousness in music. But saying that, I do like discussing with people why they like or dislike a bit of music.

I know what you're saying. All most everyone I ask say they like ALL music. I'm the opposite, I'm really specific about the music I like. Green Day isn't included, lol. I love punk though, I have this homemade compilation tape with bands I really like now like Black Flag, The Havoc, The Clash and Lower Class Brats. I also really like The Sex Pistols and a few others.

Hmmm, I was simply saying that early Green Day puts me in mind of The Decendents (whom I enjoy).
Now,Green Days more recent music is a bit less to my taste, but I certianly don't overly concern myself with other peoples musical taste (as mine are a bit diverse),one could enjoy the sounds of cats being fed through a wood chipper for all it's worth.
Now,as far as telling some random person their dress looked disgusting... ..just add liquer.

I suppose its just a generality that people say I like 'all' music maybe meaning their not fussed or what ever. But you get people who say I love everything.
It's a rather naive thing to say really.
I can't imagine your average person really loving Gogorian Monk's chanting away, or sitting down to an outer Mongolian nose flute session with 'the band'.

Yeah Fitz i wasnt refering to your comment mate, i was merely pointing out that i think alot of people who read NME and Kerang are bell-ends.

I'll have you know outer Mongolian nose flute is one of my favorite instruments.
Seriously though, I can't claim to like ALL music, country makes my skin crawl and I dislike "radio friendly plasticpop".

I don't like 'all' music, though I would say I'm the exact opposite of a music snob. I gave someone a fairly stern telling off the other day for saying that the X-Factor was 'bad' for music, and wasn't about 'real music' - and I abhor the show!
T.S.O.L: Find me a song with better lyrics than 'Code Blue'
Punk music died when the Sex Pistols started making money out of it in the mid-late 70's. Shame really as some of it is pretty good.

I suppose I should caveat that I used to listen to a truck load of punk and hardcore when I was a budding socialist and doing my A-levels at college but as I am slipping further and further towards middle age with all the acoutrements that belong (mortgage, kids, beer belly etc) , I just don't find myself as angry as I used to be when I was a kid. Not that I don't like punk anymore, I just don't find as relevant. I'm all outta angst!
