Alright so I've been a guard player for the best part of my 40k life and I recently started collecting space wolves (I mainly did this because I wanted a bit more close combat in my new army). But any way I was looking at my codex and I saw Lucas the tricksters "the last laugh" rule and I know he is quite point heavy but I thought I had a sure fire way of killing any normaly hard to kill model. Take ghazghkull for example. I've seen him and his retinue smash through so many main lines I've lost count. So I was thinking lucas and his blood claws drop pod in and next turn assault. put him as close to ghazghkull as you can and wait for them to die and with the blessings of the dice god role a 6 and hey presto! one dead ghazghkull [or canifex or avatar or chaos termi lord...]
I mean I know that it relies heavily on dice rolls but then again this is 40k isnt it? You could have 10 lascannon devistators fire at a sentinel and all miss...
But anyway feedback would be nice

Lukas is one of the worst choices from the new Space Wolves codex, I've used him a few times, hopeing that he is better in game than he is on paper, but he isn't.
and there is'nt really much that can stand up to gazzy.
Arjac Rockfist 2+3++ with S10 swings, EW and a couple of wounds, has a chance.
Logan Grimnar 2+4++ with 5 base S5 swings before gazzy, with EW and a few wounds, has a chance.
Ragnar Blackmane 3+4++ keep him with a large unit and good movement in means you can let ragnar much on some nobs to make use of Saga of the Warrior born to unleash a ton of attacks at gazzy on his turn, has a chance.
Njal/generic runepriest using JotWW. simple, and avoids a lot of risk from being in assault with gazzy, its a small chance, but its really your best bet.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

What are Lukas' special rules? I'm curious to know what "Roll a 6 and presto! Dead Ghazzy" means. Ghazghkull is invulnerable to instant death....does Lukas' rule say something about removing the model from play?

Get a codex in your hands and find out?
Basically he has a bomb in him that goes off when he is killed.
As for the tactic: no matter what you give the opponent a turn to react to the arrival of Lukas, he could very well assault something else into them and move the IC or other hard units in a different direction.
If you want to apply pressure you apply it by LR or rhinos IMO.
Not really directed to the OP but:

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

yeah I know pods aren't the answer to everything but with the drop pod assault rule it means I can get him straight there before ghazzy has time to reach my line. Basically when he dies, each player throws a dice and if the player owning Lukas wins or ties the roll, anything in base contact with Lukas (including own models) are removed as casualties. The roll of 6 just guarantees that he wins the roll Flaws in the tactic are: He's not worth his points. If you drop down next to them, expect to be : Gunned down in their shooting phase, or be charged by random boyz whos not with ghaghzkull, or then get charged by ghaghzull and gang, but since he's the guy assaulting he'll just put him away from lukas as he's a upgrade character anyways.

Wait. You have to roll a 6 for Lucas to go off? He's even worse than I thought.
On topic-you write that this relies heavily on dice rolls. What's probably more true is that you have to rely on your opponent being dumb. Say you tried this trick against Dash. In his shoes, I'd ignore the annoying little BC squad with Ghaz, and just hit it with burnas while Ghaz went after something more valuable.

Very true iron chaos lord. But also when I said "role a 6" I just meant that you have to role higher than your opponent. And 6 being the highest number on the dice I'd thought I'd use it as an example.
