I think it makes sense, but it does seem a bit soon. It was mentioned these were being started on, but rumor has them a ways off. 2011 at the soonest.

GW may have simply decided not to give them full updates which would be a shame but the only way a short notice update could work.

Did this happen with the Tyranid codex too?

What he is saying is that the two books are no longer listed available to non-GW bookstores and non-GW distribution chain. Thats a bit different than going on their website. If GW is anything like other publishers they will have it available for some time after they remove it from trade.

Happy to see it if it happens but I really hope it does not. If it is released this quick then it is doubtful there are any new models for the army. Also I just sold my GK army and will be soooooo pissed!!

Thats why you should just never sell anything. Unless its an object with value that diminishes over time, you should just hold onto it. People really play a two steps forward one step back type game with their miniature acquisitions.

These could always be the next two codices GW wants to put out after Nids, Blood Angels, and mystery fleet based marines. That makes for a very marine heavy year.

Dunno if it means anything, but both of these codices have also been pulled from GW's German, French and Italian sites, among others. The sites still list Necrons and Dark Eldar, but not Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters.

the fact that they pulled both codex could also have a very sinister meaning as well... daemonhunters may be going the way of the squads!

I hope not, as I have a 2000 point grey knight army :(

Next should be a marine book anyway, shouldn't it? Isn't that the order of codices? Marine -> Non-marine -> Marine? Space Marines -> IGs -> Space Wolves -> Tyranids -> ?

I thought they always did a marine book after a non-marine book. I, for one, would love to see the Blood Angels get a book.

Well, that's just it. They didn't pull the product line from the German/Italian/French/Japanese, etc. sites. They only pulled the codices.

Do people really think GW would have WH & DH leapfrog the "long-suffering" DE?

I guess people better boycott the Inquisition stuff in protest!

Man. I swore blind that after the 10,000 points of CSM, and 10,000 more of Space Wolves that I got this year, that I would stay clear of it all for a couple of years. If they do release grey knights, especially any that are plastic at all, I'm going to be very very poor in short order....

I would be fine if witch hunters and daemon hunters were combined into one book. It would be an opportunity to add in alien hunters as well, and would work out well as long as they make it so that you don't mix SoB and GK troops for example. A "take GK brother captain enables GK units" and "take canoness enables SoB units" would be simple and allow for "inquisitor" stuff to remain for either force, with inquisitors picking xenos, hereticus, or malleus.

I hope this means a new dex... mine is falling apart after only one year. Crap ass binding.

If they go the way of the Squats, GW can say goodbye to any more purchases from me. Orkz and Eldar are cool, but it's the Inquisition that keeps me coming back.

You know GW will send you a new Codex if yours is falling apart. They sent me two new Tyranid codices after my first two fell apart because of the binding. Just give them a call.

Do what I'm planning for all my Codexes ... head to an office supply store and ask them to spiral-bind it. I plan on getting the SM and CSM books spiral bound back to back. I got a few knitting books spiral bound and it was the best thing I ever did. It cost me about $6 to get I think two or three books done.

Bonus: It stops the pages from falling out (:

Yeah, we do that with programming manuals too. Anything you will be using as a reference should be spiral-bound. Laminate covers help with the inevitable berverage tsunam is as well. Now if only there were a simple way to get beer off of flocked terrain...

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I will be very surprised if this amounts to anything. The US GW site is full of Bermuda triangle moments. The price for the new Tyranid battleforce was 0.00 for a day last week, for example. But, IIRC, Tyranid dex did not disappear until after official announcement. Moreover, I'll believe in an Inquisition codex when I see BA released with DA. Otherwise, this might as well be a DE rumor.

Satellite of Love

Pages falling out was a major problem for all Army Books and Codex books starting with the current Dark Elf book and following through all the way to Warriors of Chaos in Nov. 2008. GW changed printers back when the latest Dark Elf book was printed and bound and there were major problems with pages falling out of a certain percentage of books for many months after that. Books that have pages just fall out within days or weeks of purchase have a tell-tale defect you can spot when they are new, you can see down to the binding if you look at the second page in or the next to last page. If you can see all the way down to the stitching when you open the book to either of those spots there's an extremely high likelihood pages near that spot will just drop out at some point even from light use. Books without the visible defect don't seem to have issues from normal use.

The good news is that GW is aware of the problem and if you contact Customer Service they will replace the faulty book. Just a personal observation of mine was that the Space Marine Codex, perhaps due to its increased thickness, seemed to have a much higher percentage of badly bound books than the others during the problem period. I still bad copies of that floating around, mostly owned by people who don't realize they should have called Customer Service to get it replaced. My son and I both had bad copies of that particular book that needed to be replaced.

Finally, when the Imperial Guard Codex came out I looked through the books for sale on the day it was released and didn't see any "bad" ones in the bunch. Same for the Space Wolf Codex so maybe they finally fixed the problem. This problem did have one effect on my buying habits, I stopped Advance Ordering Codex/Army books so that I could look through the books personally before purchasing them to ensure they didn't have the aforementioned deftect on the binding.

Well not really for the Dark Eldar, they are still plenty scary.

Remember though, the Space Wolf codex was not available to trade long before the new codex came out.
