This coming from someone who also has to suffer from a stupid government: Get this message to every Australien gamer you know!

VG247 wrote:As promised, the Australian government has opened up the debate as to whether or not the country should have an 18+ rating to the public. Hit this for details.

“Submissions are being sought on whether the Australian National Classification Scheme should include an R 18+ classification category for computer games,” said the attorney-general’s department.

“Submissions can be made by downloading and completing the submission template. Submissions may also be mailed or faxed. The discussion paper and submission template contain the contact details for making a submission.”

Get to it, Australian people. You’ve got until February 28 to explain to old people why you’re grown-up enough to see a cartoon gun shoot a zombie.

'Bout time.

We all need to write calm and well written letters to get our point across. Death threats to Michael Atkinson do not help.

I suggest you use the PEGI system.

It would make my life easier.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

God dammit. I thought I was on the right track here.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

And in worse news, Telstra and Optus have sided with the Government in defense of the Great Barrier Reef Internet Filter.

Yay. We're just like Burma and China. What awesome company we keep. Go Rudd!!

I reckon that even after so many generations, they're worried exposure to violence will reawaken the convict genes and spark mass insurrection.

I wish I could answer that question.

The problem is that the reasons these games were banned are not uniform.

Left 4 Dead 2 - heavy emphasis on the bloody decapitations within the game was given as a reason for its banning.
Fallout 3 - This game is full of bloody decapitations, but no, that was never mentioned. It was banned for having morphine as an item in the game.

And Modern Warfare 2 lets you massacre civilians, and that wasn't even censored.

There is no consistency whatsoever with the idiots classifying our games.

On a related note; Micheal Atkinson pleads to the board to reconsider MW2s rating.
