Another fine edition....I love how hazard stripes are jumping out all over the place at the moment.
Cherub...cut his face off. Anything that is delightfully creepy always works in 40k. I've got the other cherub holding a bolter, for a Witch Hunter I'm planning, on making at some point, I'll be replacing the bolter with a chainsword.
Arbitrator Vaun - I much prefer this rendition. The previous one made him look like an arbite with bionic foot, this one makes him look like someone recruited by an inquisitor. The bionic foot is now quite subtle unlike the previous crude "arbite issue" one...I guess having the attention of the Inquisition can be a good thing after all.
The Navigator - Good choice of head. I find that head to look rather odd but that works in your models favour.
The Not Joesef - does the Russian sculptor have a website or any other cool models?

Many thanks for the compliments, guys.
In what will probably be my last proper update for the Easter holidays, here's some progress on our female Arbitrator concept. She's going to be going into the retinue of Inquisitor Ferox.
We've been looking for a long time for the female Necromunda Bounty Hunter:
We've seen a couple go on eBay, but usually for a bit more than we were willing to spend.
That is, until I caught sight of this eBay auction:
In the background you can just about see her!
So, having won the auction, I set about stripping her. We didn't like her pose, with the raised pistol, so I had to convert her somewhat.
You can see here that I've given her another bolt pistol. Well, the pistol that fit her best was one from the newer-looking Van Saars. It looks just different enough from a bolt pistol for it to conceivably be a heavy stub pistol or the like.
All in all, whilst a relatively simplistic conversion, it should do its job admirably!

I approve of the arm change and you seem to have dressed her too.
Lucky find on the ebay. Are you going to strip the paint of Inquisitor Lok? Also what is the model to the right of her?

Well, that's true. She's not beauty pageant material, but then again, in her line of work it's not a desirable trait, unless she'd be working in the local equivalent of Narcotics or Vice.

Well, I might be treading too close to heresy right now, but Keira Knightley is only ambiguously hot for me. Too flat, if you know what I mean. Plus, a hot bounty hunter girl might find herself not only shot at... although I admit, most hot girls plying that trade in fiction tend to know how to deal with unwanted suitors.

I'll never complain about being derailed by Keira Knightley (just don't tell SWMBO!)
The conversion for the female bounty hunter wasn't one of my best - on Ammobunker and Warseer there have been comments that the shoulder looks awkward. And to a degree it does, but I've already given the model to the player who's going to be using her and painting her up. I have to say that I quite like her, but will admit she's not the nicest of figures. Just shows the extremes GW forces us - I wish they'd make some more female figures!

Mmmm don't love that latest one. The words "Awkward" and "ugly" are definately apropo here. The kasrkin is more to my liking, always liked the models and just bought a set myself, there'll be headswaps in my future, might pinch that for one of them.
Got "old thread" warning for posting here, I'll assume additional comments won't irritate OP due to continuing nature of the project.

Well, she's not the most beautiful figure, but she'll work for what we'd intended.
Given that you bumped the thread, I might as well comment further!
So, I've been unwittingly roped into playing a game of INQ28 at Warhammer World on Saturday, June 11th against a member of the Ammobunker going by the name of Tychonaut. It's in aid of the annual Ammobunker AmmoBash.
The board features a downed Necrontyr vessel, but I'm conveniently ignoring it. Our game is likely to take place on the 4' x 2' section in the lower left of that picture, which incorporates a base camp and a mine-workings/archaeological dig, which I think is a great place for two Inquisitors to clash:
The game, which has been titled "Nine-Tenths of the Lore" will feature Inquisitor Adorno going up against a radical of the Ordo Xenos as they battle for control of the dig site.
In aid of it, I've put up an INQ28 Reference Sheet, which has the distances in inches rather than yards. It's something I've been planning for a while to speed our games up, so whilst we're playtesting Adorno, we'll also be playtesting the reference sheet!
Inquisitor Theodor Adorno
Inquisitor, Ordos Malleus Dalthus
WS 64 | BS 53 | S 55 | T 50 | I 81 | Wp 86 | Sg 91 | Nv 80 | Ld 85
KBK: 6 | BIV: 5 | SS: 10 | CNC: 25 | Spd: 5
Right-Handed
Weaponry: Master-Crafted Laspistol (w/Reload), Sword of St. Anathea (Power Sword, +10% Parry Penalty against "Chaotic" foes - GM's discretion.)
Armour: Legs, Groin, Arms, Abdomen, Head (4); Chest (6)
Equipment: Auspex, Pentagrammic Wards
Abilities: Sorceror, Inured, Devoted
Spells: Banishment, Confound Daemon, Fireball, Sanctuary
Inured: Having had the merest glimpse of the worst that the Immaterium can offer, Adorno treats Terrifying individuals as fearsome, and fearsome creatures have no effect. Due to a combination of prior experience and foolhardiness, Adorno gains the Force of Will skill against Daemonic entities.
Sorcerer: Sorcery uses the same mechanics as psychic powers detailed in the Inquisitor rulebook, although it uses sagacity rather than willpower. However, sorcery is a fragmented and contradictory art; the increased complexity that sorcerers face compared to psykers means that the difficulty rating of a psychic power is increased by a quarter (so a difficulty 20 power would be difficulty 25, for example) In order to cast a spell, a sorcerer must be able to speak and gesture freely in order to cast a spell, typically requiring a hand free to do so. Casting a spell is considered to be a speech (or shouting) action that can be heard as normal.
Devoted: Treat as True Grit.
Seraphael
The Whisperprince, Master of Lies
WS 53 | BS 51 | S 52 | T 51 | I 52 | Wp 92 | Sg 160 | Nv 95 | Ld 27
KBK: 5 | BIV: 5 | SS: 10 | CNC: 26 | Spd: 4
Weaponry: None. Seraphael's close combat attacks have the daemonic properties Daemonbane, Gnawing and Mind-stealer.
Armour: None.
Equipment: None.
Abilities: Daemonic (Void-Chill), Possessed.
Psychic Powers: Regenerate, Chill of the Grave, Bloodfreeze.
Chill of the Grave: The psyker reaches into the mind of the victim, using his mental powers to entrance the enemy. This power is a ranged and persistent ability which can be used on one enemy character within line of sight of the psyker. Whilst the power is in effect, the targeted character may do nothing at all and counts as being stunned (he does not fall prone). He may attempt to break free of the Daemon’s control at the start of every subsequent turn and will succeed if he can pass a Willpower test.
Bloodfreeze: Seraphael may use this power on any model within 18 yards that he is already aware of. This is a ranged power, but it does not require line of sight. If the psychic test is successful, the victim takes an Initiative test modified by the amount the psyker passed his psychic test by. If this is failed, the character is hit in D6 random locations exactly as if they had been hit by a webber. The effects stay in place exactly as with a webber, including the D6 damage every turn. As this is not a persistent power, further psychic tests are not required. Characters can attempt to free themselves, though web solvent has no effect.
"Mourn"
Feral-worlder, Mercenary
WS 60 | BS 41 | S 58 | T 62 | I 58 | Wp 54 | Sg 25 | Nv 45 | Ld 65
KBK: 6 | BIV: 6 | SS: 12 | CNC: 31 | Spd: 4
Right-Handed
Weaponry: Pump-Action Combat Shotgun (with Scatter), Gorgon Pistol (Stubber with Semi (3)) Knife
Armour: Legs (4), Groin, Arms, Chest (5), Abdomen (3), Head (0)
Equipment: Re-Breather
Abilities: Hip-Shooting, Fieldcraft, Venerate the Ancestor-Spirits
Fieldcraft: Hailing from a feral world, Mourn knows how to blend into his environment almost seamlessly, thanks to skills borne from a lifetime hunting. When Mourn is in areas of forest, jungle or thick vegetation, any character checking to see if they can see him by sight alone must do so at -30% to their Awareness test in addition to other modifiers, unless they are using specialist equipment such as infra-red, bioscanners and the like. Anybody shooting at Mourn whilst he is hiding will be subject to a -20% modifier to their BS due to the concealing effects of his camouflage. Mourn cannot use these bonuses if he moved at faster than a walk in his previous turn.
Venerate the Ancestor-Spirits: If Mourn takes an opponent out of action in close combat, he will attempt to spend all his remaining actions that turn taking a trophy so that his ancestors may be sated - treat these actions as unarmed attacks.
Banner
Imperial Guard Veteran
WS 58 | BS 53 | S 66 | T 74 | I 50 | Wp 70 | Sg 38 | Nv 85 | Ld 32
KBK: 7 | BIV: 7 | SS: 15 | CNC: 37 | Spd: 4
Weaponry: Autorifle
Armour: Legs, Groin, Abdomen, Chest, Head (0), L. Arm (4), R. Arm (3)
Equipment:
Abilities: Suppressive Fire, Shoulder Charge
Shoulder Charge: If Banner charges an enemy, he may choose to shoulder charge, rather than attacking normally. If the enemy character can pass an initiative test they may dodge aside up to 3 yards, and Banner can continue his remaining actions. If they fail, they are knocked back to the left or right (Banner's player's choice) - see the rules for knockback on p.180 of the LRB. Use Banner's strength value divided by 10 as the amount of damage inflicted. Banner is free to continue with his remaining actions.
Suppressive Fire: Banner lays down a burst of fire intended to suppress the enemy rather than injure them. This can be performed as a combined action. Banner can only use this if firing Semi- or Full-Auto. Choose a group of targets as normal and roll to hit as normal. For every hit the target must take a Pinning test, but no damage is done. Any 'placed shots' mean the test is taken at half NV.

Well traditionally they have random letters & numbers in the name somewhere, that's what I like to think anyway. Mine is called Gorse, not decided on the number yet. Yours seems like an Icarus to me. Well I'm glad you got one reply! I've just got in with a somewhat (understatement) drunk birthday girl girlfriend, who is out for the count, and I'm still wide awake..... I tried to comment on your blog the other day about your updates and to thank people for their nice comments about Spur. Shame the bloody thing kept on trying to make me sign up for my own blog. Anyway...
Oh "the wo is me" about being roped in to playing won't wash....I know you love it ! You are also being spoilt with the board it looks great....I'd be tempted to play four by four to get the mountain and dig site into the game too. I hope you take some notes and pictures for a battle report (I also hope your opponents models will be painted?).
Nice selection of models (I know I've seen them before but its good to see them again). Its also nice to see the stats and rules you've given them.
As for your chrono gladiator's name... its hard since we've got nothing to work from other than him being a chrono gladiator. Where did Adorno pick him up? Eg was he on a scrap pile waiting to be put against the latest big hitter? Was he the latest big hitter but felt going with the inquisitor was a better life? Was he picked up from the depth of some blood cults hunting pits? Is he from a hive world, forge world, feral world etc? As you can see the list is endless but I decided to have a look at some boxers, specifically John "The Quietman" Ruiz for inspiration and have come up with this:
Ruiz "The Mute".
Before Ruiz joined Adorno's retinue he was slaved to the dungeon pits of Geldarath Prime. He had been working the pits for some time, a slave to the noble house Vreal. Over the few years of his career he had become one of the big names on the gladiatorial circuit. He was known to be extremely efficient but had a flare for the dramatic towards to end of his short bouts. He picked up his stage name after his masters took his tongue. House Vreal claimed it punishment for the misdeed of blaspheming the Emperor, in reality it was far more disturbing.
House Vreal were a coven of Slaanesh worshippers, who would partake in blood orgies. It was here that Ruiz was bound to a floating alter and innocent hive dwellers were eviscerated, upon his chain blades. The remains would then rain down on the unholy congregation below. The cult took great delight in tormenting Ruiz for innocently taking part in their vile rituals; they removed his tongue so he had no way of communicating their debasement to others. His head was bound within an adamantine mask, incorporating a psy blocker, for the same reason.
Adorno accidentally found the cult, whilst investigating the where abouts of a dais to the dark gods. Adorno attacked the cult as they prepared to summon something from the depths. The alter that Ruiz was strapped to was damaged, by a stray shot, and plummeted into the mass of naked cultists, crushing many. More importantly Ruiz was set free, with his bonds broken Ruiz was an unstoppable force butchering those who corrupted him.
Afterwards Adorno hunted the crazed gladiator through the streets of the upper hive, finally catching up with the blood soaked creature as he collapsed in an exhausted heap, about to be destroyed by the local enforcers. Andorno took Ruiz back to his residents for interrogation, not knowing the gladiator was coerced into the rituals. On discovering his prisoner was mute the Inquisitor had a crude mechanical voice box fitted so he could glean information from Ruiz. This proved all but impossible as all the gladiator had left was an unshakable faith in the Emperor, a need to redeem his unknown sins and a wrecked psyche. With the mask irremovable and psychic probing complicated Adorno decided to put Ruiz to work under his watchful eye. For the Inquisitor felt the gladiator may still reveal his secrets. Adorno has set recording equipment up in Ruiz's cell for he discovered that occasionally the gladiator talks in his troubled sleep.
I didn't mean to write all that it just kinda came out...hmmm I might do the first draft of my own characters after an evening out next time..maybe I could just drink at home?

PDH: Hah, last night I took my girlfriend's brother out for his birthday, caught your reply but didn't get the chance to respond. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble commenting on the blog - if you have a gmail account it's easy, but I think you can still comment elsewise. Of course, a blog to collate your material would be no bad thing!
It should be good to play INQ28, especially in Warhammer World. I've played a couple of games there - their scenery is really nice, which is the main attraction for me. Of course it's also good to meet up with people from the Ammobunker.
The game will be made into a battle report, which'll get posted up on the blog. I'll be making copious notes throughout, because the game will also be playtesting Adorno's retinue and the INQ28 Reference PDF.
Your fluff for "Ruiz" is cool - I decided before that, along the "Mechsimus" concept, Adorno would have disabled his kill-timer, leaving him with a month or so left to live. If Adorno wished, he could reactivate it and, effectively, condemn him to death. I'll definitely give it some thought.
Thanks for all your responses!
Baiyuan: Thank you; your work is equally as characterful! Your responses are appreciated.

I've got gmail but Blogspot was insisting I join it last time...perhaps I missed the work around, I was tired at the time. I don't fancy another blog I've got my Dakka and a little bit on the side over on the Eastern Fringes (they like Nercomunda over there and I thought they might like the finished scavvies).
Excellent. I look forward to reading the battle report BTW What is the difference between an Inquisitor reference sheet and a Inq28 reference sheet?
I'm glad you've gone down the Mechsimus route because I've become quite attached to Ruiz. I'll adapt his background for my chrono gladiator (who doesn't have a iron mask) who might actually become a member of my planned Excommunicate Traitoris Inquisitor's warband* rather than an aid to Tech Priest Spur.
* finecast has opened up an interesting possibility for using that big hunk of metal warhammer khorne lord (as an inquisitor). I've not used finecast yet but I'm looking forward to it...with a little trepidation. But first I'll have to finish my monodominant. Oh and my Skitarri before that...who I'm going to undercoat now.

Hey,
the INQ28 reference sheet is designed to make it easy to play INQ28. As a simple example, if you're playing with yards, you have to remember to halve everything. You can run 6 yards, which then you have to halve to make 3". That's why I've done the reference sheet in inches, so I don't have to constantly add an unnecessary step into playing the game. Hopefully, it'll speed things up.
As I said, it's not foolproof yet, so I'll be using the test game to explore the sheet, hopefully being able to identify any weaknesses.
I look forward to seeing your "Ruiz" (and his fully functioning kill-timer!) at some later stage. I've seen the Khorne Exalted Champion before, nice model but would need some work to be made into an Inquisitor.
Also, be sure to keep an eye on this...

Are we talking about this one? If so it's the thing about the great minds again, I considered that model when looking for the base model for my Inquisitor too.

Mol - I see now, that actually makes a hell of a lot of sense. Please email me your reference sheet when you get a min
As for Ruiz you'll have to wait for a bit I'm afraid. Too many projects not enough day light. Oh did you ever manage to dig out that double barrelled shotgun?
Mol, Baiyuan - That is indeed the model I want to use. Oh a hell of a lot of work... but I imagine all those resin khorne symbols coming off with a modelling knife and it makes me smile.

And yes, I have the shotgun for you... I just won't be in the same city as it until August. I'll trade your "reading fail" for my "logistical nightmare."

On the face of it that would seems like a fair exchange. But I'm blaming what you call "reading fail" firmly on Opera Version 11.11. It really has been a nightmare since I updated to it.
Thanks mate...roll on August (will give me time to try and complete a few other things before I get very much distracted by that shotgun).
Edit - I've now looked at the ref sheet. Good idea. Does the Psychic power modifier "Range to Target" need turning into -1 per 1/2"?

Just read this whole blog tonight, and I've got to say I'm impressed. I'm right now writing up an inqusition list for the new GK codex, so I can get to modelling my own inquisitors and retinues.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Never a problem!
So, this Saturday I went to Warhammer World to play a game of INQ28 against Tychnaut, from the Ammobunker.
The game featured Inquisitor Adorno fighting against Inquisitor Atraxis of the Ordo Xenos over the posession of an archaeological dig-site. The board was created by the Ammobunker team and was very cool.
Here's the game in progress:
It went very well, but I think people were a bit confused by the sight of eight models on a six-by-four board! Still, Tycho and I had a whale of a time, and there was lots of drama.
I've also managed to get my models off Steve, so here's a few pics of some of them:
In other news, please check out my latest blog entry for some exciting news regarding Dan Abnett!

Great models, I love them, pretty close to some things I did or planned to do.

Thanks! After I return from Florida they should see their outing on Nova Castille... we've got to just tie things up with the current stage of the campaign, and then we can move on to the battle between Inquisitors Hoth and Adorno... and the unspeakable horror bound into the very heart of the planet!
Playing at Warhammer World was great fun, and there were many high points in the game. I'm definitely looking forward to the next stage!
I've also started laying the groundwork for an INQ28 invitational tournament to be played in 2012. PDH - Keep an ear out for your invitation!

That is great news about an exclusive interview with Abnett. Tell him to write a sequel to Hammers of Ulric.
Looks like you had a fun game, that board is brilliant. Nice to know its last game was something special. Any chance of a link to Tychnaut's modelling thread so I can see his models up close (that is if he has one).
So a quick trip to Florida (if you're going for rides Bush Gardens and Universal Studios theme parks were great) and then a battle report. Happy days.
I'm also looking forward to you having some free time to get your fiendgrn built.
Check out my Nerco blog for talk of the inquisition (and not in an inquisimunda way).
