Glad to see the Czech Republic out!
Now on to Germany vs Greece. The Germans have been comfortable but have not been 100% so far; both Portugal and Holland threatened to overturn their leads during the group phase.

Been waiting a while for that haven't you,
wouldn't be surprised to see Germany increase the gap by at least one or two in the next half

This match really just leaves Greece wide open for sport/political analogies.
Diving faster than the Euro, looking shakier than their economy, etc....

Despite it being 4-2 I think the scoreline actually flattered the Greeks there. My sister came into the room during the first few minutes of the game and asked if I was watching the highlights.
Pretty shocking performance from Greece in the first half, things went a bit better in the second half (and their first goal was a good one) but even when it was 1-1 you never really had any doubt about the score.

I totally agree with this, I think the ref felt sorry for Greeks so was more likely to give them 50/50s like the penalty

Germany marches on and they're looking good - they could have had 9 goals. I may have to make that trip to the Brandenburg Gate after all
Coach Loew was at his best last night - crazy arm movements and random gestures. When Greece got the penalty, I thought Loew was going to strangle the fourth official!!
As for tonight's game - I'm predicting a shock victory for the French based on the fact that I burnt my toast this morning and the burn mark was shaped like France!

Well that was a sleep-inducing game.
I think a dutch commentator put it nicely (when spain was awarded the penalty kick):
"Well I think it's a bit harsh to give a penalty for that. I understand the referee though, he doesn't want to risk France accidentally scoring a goal and having to watch this for another 30 minutes."

Glad I didn't see it then... guess we're off for an Iberian duel semi-final.
We had a score to settle with either of them, but even though we've lost more times to France (at least in recent memory), I'd rather face them than the Spanish.
Oh well, most of all, I hope for a good game.

So much for my solid logic!!
Now we know why the French were wearing white - that was probably the most feeble performance I have seen in a long time, and I've seen a few Queen's Park Rangers games in my time!!!
Once again, it falls to England to show the world how it's done. In a press conference the other day, the German coach seemed to tremble at the prospect of meeting England in the Semi-Final. The fear was in his eyes

England will never be defeated! Everbody has tried - the yanks, the germans, the french, the scots, the welsh, the irish, the russians, the turks, the indians, the chinese, the australians, the kiwis, the japanese, various, african nations, argentina, the danes etc etc, and were still here England is the dream in every man's heart
Back OT. I have a feeling that England V Italy will probably be the most boring match yet (worse than spain v france) and will probably drag football back 50 years.

Yeah, world cup 82, world cup 2006, yeah I see what you mean
In all honesty though, I've enjoyed watching germany the past five years because there is always goals in them (expect when they play spain) and they're a good side to watch. I'm going to regret reading this in a few hours time
England V Italy has 1-1 and penalties/extra time stamped all over it.

Are you kidding? TBF I think Portugal might steal a win against Spain as they will have the beating of them in the air and could get a lucky set piece. Anyways, I think England will come through this evening, it'll be a tight game, but we should come out on top. Especially if we can stop Pirlo from playing. Hopefully Balotelli will get himself sent off in the first 10 minutes.

I love your spirit! You haven't won a game against us in the past 14 years and finished behind us on every single international competition since 2002, but you still think you're the better team!
I would say that I would love to take you up on that game, but unfortunately, you are going to loose against Italy and we are going to get stomped by Spain, so neither team will be present on that desired Portugal vs England Euro Championship final.

This is a very different England team, we play very much as a team under Roy and I think we'd be able to nullify the threat of Portugal (or 'Ronaldo' as he's normally known ). England should get through tonight, Hodgson will know how to go about beating the Italians, and we have much better players, while their best two defenders (Chielinni and Bochetti) wont be playing.

Yeah, I'm not buying Portugal as world-beaters either. They're a one-man team, and fairly average, defensively. Sure, Ronaldo is god at the moment, easily the tournament's best player, but if he doesn't turn up on the night (as has sometimes been the case in big games), Portugal don't compensate very well, IMO.

I think it's unfair to only look at Ronaldo. I'm guessing people who say that only see the highlights of the game - it's not like we don't have Nani, Pepe, Coentrão, Bruno Alves, who are good players, others like Raúl Meireles who although tired is still a competent and threatning player.
I mean, this isn't Barça, it's not a one man team; he is the player you hear most about, but then again it's like saying Italy is Bolatelli and England is Rooney.
