OK

I have a burning hatred towards Tau more than any army by a long shot. I REALLY would like to see them get stomped.

Anyways, great game! That was a bloody battle!

I see, another person against The Greater Good. Well to be honest when I play Tau, I don't really "sit back", but I think that it all comes down to what your play style is, which then kinda dictates what armies you might play.

True, the farsight bomb is more along the lines of "stay just outside of assault range and shoot". Though I play Nids, if I ever did cross over to the dark side, that is definitely how I would play Tau. That and 9000 Broadsides

Tau was my first army because a kind friend gave me some for free to get me in the game. After I had a huge Tau army I sold them all because they were just so boring.

In my opinion everything glorious and fun that happens in 40K is up close and personal. To each their own but I don't think it makes for fun games when somebody is just sitting there and removing your models from across the board.

To be fair, I won my last game at nova on the back of one solo riptide killing off a unit of tomb spyders in close combat, then another one surviving being mindshackled and a unit of wraith/dlord swinging up on him without a 3++. Work has to be done (usually) in close combat to win-but having 4 mcs and farsight rolling around is usually enough.

Yeah, I also saw you cripple Matt Defaranza's Seer Council with your O'Vesa Star. The only thing that always confuses me is when the right time to strike in CC is... Like for me, I sometimes put it in cruise control and sit back and shoot a little too much, and then realize that should I have gone into assault with the Riptides, I could have done a lot more damage.

Riptides are in many ways the best MC in the game right now. They can take down Wraight Knights fairly easy in close combat due to the 3++. They are really good.

It's a tough call for me to pick who I'd think wins this match. Necrons are a good counter to Tau... Probably will come down to superior tactics and who has the better luck.

This is another reason why I hate Tau. For some reason they have a MC that can pretty reliably beat a Daemon Prince in combat. Juggerlords don't stand a chance.

This is going to be a very uphill battle for the Necrons in my opinion, it's really hard for them to fight Riptides.

MSS is a good counter to RT. If he can tie them up and go after the rest of the more squishy units he should be in a good position.

Necrons are good counter to Tau? Typical well played taudar crushes Wraithwing easily. Didint play with ovesastar but i find it as hard matchup for crons still.

I'm curious, what is the purpose of the Inquisitor in the Farsight/Tau army?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Servoskulls prevent people from scouting (and infiltrating) near them. So they stop you getting rolled up on too early.

Although it is unlikely, in the case that the O'Vesa star gets tied up for even a turn, it could be game changing, especially when you have two players like Jim and Justin going at it

The skulls are mostly to prevent infiltrating character deathstars, specifically karandras and shadowsun in things like grav centurions or beast star.

I wanted to offer up some thoughts going into this matchup. The deployment type is hammer and anvil, which generally favors tau with their long range units such as iontides and skyrays. The mission we're playing is interesting in that you need to hold at least 3 objective markers to score the one primary objective whilst you only need to win kill points by one in order obtain that primary. Fast attack units (wraiths) are also worth two kill points. Jim has last turn with necron flyers, which helps him score, but with the abnormal objective win criteria it'll be tough for him and essentially impossible for me to obtain that objective even though his wraiths are scoring. I'm going to focus on blowing out the killpoint margin as much as possible while keeping enough riptides alive to sit on objectives in the end game in order to win that way. The bastionsides will deploy in my deployment zone-this deployment style provides me optimal coverage of the table. Couple that with the fact that warscythes are the only real threat to the bastion itself and these guys will be pumping shots into wraiths all game. I'll probably dump both skyrays into the abarges turn 1-that might seem counter intuitive given the 4 scythes in Jims army, but I'll use the skyrays' markerlights later to make the broadsides and ovesa star to even the odds on the flyers. The sooner I eliminate the barges the sooner my deathstar can stubborn/shield up and tango with the wraiths. Not to say I 'want' to charge into combat, but it's an eventuality you have to confront so having a valid plan going in is really good.
