Haha I definitely picked out the least-worst dude. Some of them have suffered rather badly from the bobbly primer issue. Still, as they're basically vat-born slave-conscripts purchased from the DEldar it'll definitely do!

Have you decided which way your Wych Cult will sway? My dudes are thoroughly skeptical...

My Wych cult will definitely be on board for helping out the Ynnari, as will my CWE. Gotta have an excuse to play with the new rules after all. I won't be painting any Ynnari specific colour schemes save for the special three characters, when I get them I'll be painting them up in their cannon colours to represent the faction.

ANd gummy you don't need a reason to run Illic nightspear, he's an awesome character, he's done great work for me on the tabletop, I love fielding him.

Haha I know! Back from before I discovered the wonders of sticking different heads and arms on things also, I do find some armies/kits more conducive to conversion work than others. I think Guardians and Craftworld Eldar in general are actually quite a tricky army to do general low-level kitbashes with. Their troops are very uniform in look, and a lot of their units are either older kits or Finecast.

Hats off to anyone who does that kind of stuff with Craftworlders. I certainly find it trickier than the rest of the Eldar factions!

Neat I think I'll have a go at converting some Ynnari dudes, but I'd want to make them a bit like a sub-faction of religious fanatics. Like a sort of Death Cult doomsayers shouting from their soap boxes and performing 'miracles' in the shadier areas of the Craftworld. Seems like a cool opportunity to bring some of the Imperial Ragged Pilgrim style aesthetic to Eldar

Also, second how cool Illic is. He's the chap with the near-D strength sniper, no?

Thanks man! Funny coincidence

I feel it's important to both remember your starting point and to show others. I was thinking that when I first got back into the hobby I flicked through dozens and dozens of amazing project logs filled with stunning painting and converting. I could feel a sense of 'how on earth will I ever get to even half that level. These guys are so phenomenally talented'. Now, for me that wasn't such a problem as I'm a serial tinkerer so I just plugged away, but I can imagine some people just starting the hobby being intimidated by it slightly: 'what's the point in my efforts when these guys are just infinitely better'. Now, I'm well aware that my painting is amateur at best, but I really wouldn't want that happening to anyone looking at my stuff. So, I thought I'd show them my first ever model which I can guarantee will be a billion times worse than anything anyone else produces, just to demonstrate that I was godawful to begin with and now I'm approaching passable!

I think it would be very amusing if all Golden Daemon entries were also encouraged to post a picture of their first ever model, just to show that they're human after all!

Naww, his sniper is S-X AP-2 all the time though. It has Instant Death on a 6 to wound as well, most importantly when you attach him to a unit of rangers he makes every single shot they fire a precision shot, if look out sir wasn't such a comically broken rule he'd be the most amazing character killer ever. What's real nice is that people think that since he's a character with a sniper he can't do CC, he's not amazing at it but he has high initiative, decent WS and a power sword with pistol so he surprises the odd person who thinks walking through your rangers in CC will be a cakewalk. Had a buddy charge some Death Company marines at him once thinking it'd be an easy sweep of the unit but Illic swung first and killed a bunch before they even got to swing, the remaining did poorly on their attacks and my rangers won CC, my opponent was not happy

The best part about Illic... Casting Gaze of the Phoneix from the ynari book on him, shoot twice a turn... yes please!

I might run him on his own and have him kinda just sit there and kill flamers and the such while my quins charge in.

Neat!

Does he have Split Fire as well? Seems he could be pretty decent accompanying a CC unit. Shoot pistols at one squad, Illic snipes the flamer out of another then the whole lot piles into the squad Illic shot

Fantastically situational, but would be fun to pull off

I wish

Sadly I think his sniper is heavy, so he doesn't do well on the move. His awesome infiltrate rule allows him to basically go anywhere, even with pathfinders (sadly only pathfinders).

I wanna buy some rangers and some simple green to paint illic and friends in the new CW scheme honestly. Not super competitive but you can't go wrong with cool looking, fun options

Ah I see. Shame I don't know of any Eldar characters that have Slow and Purposeful seeing as that confers to a unit now.

Still, definitely fun and cool looking you should definitely paint him in new craftworld colours

The ranger sculpts are quite nice. Even though they might be a little lackluster on the table, they do it with style.

If you atatch him to a unit of Dark Reapers, they are S&P. It confers to the unit, so also attached characters.

Commorragh Burns, 999.M41
Curious, Khaharkyth mused as he wrenched his sword from the burning corpse of a daemon. He hadn't felt this exhilarated, this invigorated, this alive in centuries. Not since his early days in the arena. "I think it's the element of risk," the tinny voice of Wilson added from his hindbrain. "When was the last time death had a semblance of permanence to it?". Khaharkyth paused for a second, nodding sagely. The insight was well made.

"Welcome to Commorragh!" he bellowed jovially, turning to face the yawning chasm above, "I know a very nice place just around the corner. If you can make it there before I hack your legs off you can have one of my playthings."

Dysjunctions are fun, he thought as Commorragh burned around him. We should have these more often.

Finished 5 more Kabs the picture doesn't show it at all, but if you look closely IRL they're covered in blood spatter.

Oh, and writing about Khaharkyth is fun I imagine him to be a cross between Brick Top from Snatch, Jack Sparrow when he's stuck in Davey Jones' Locker, and Hannibal Lector. Not necessarily all mashed together. More like each personality takes its turn

Illic in a squad of Dark Reapers striding across the battlefield blowing things to kingdom come sounds like fun

Or, I suppose now that you've got Ynnari stuff to play with, stick him and his Rangers in a Raider and scoot around while shooting

An account of the final days of the Crone Cycle, as written by Farseer Bellatheral of the Angvai - Part 2
It was the 7th day of the Serpent subcycle when they came. Draped in rags and sporting the blank face of the dead, the prophets of the Dead God filtered through the webway portal. Miracles, they brought with them. Those gifted among them they called 'reborn' walked among the Ghost Halls. Amidst a gathering crowd, they placed a hand upon the psychoplastic bulk of a Wraith before them. The touch of the revenant's palm caused a startling change in the Wraith's demenour. Suddenly it appeared to take a juddering, desperate breath. As if it had just surfaced from icy waters. Where its fellows moved languidly through the arches and boughs of the ghost hall, this awakened Wraith stared intensely at its hands, digits moving as it tested its perception. As the revenant passed on by, the onlookers saw the awareness ebb away. The movements of its fingers that had not seconds ago appeared fundamentally alive slowed as its arms dropped listlessly to its sides. Whatsmore, the eldar could feel the change. The bright spark that had flared into light at the touch of the prophet was fading to a whispering flicker oncemore.

The Angvai seers were cautious of these pilgrims. Manifold are the strands of fate, and only a very few offer any form of salvation. Through the windswept paths of the future they cast their gaze, alien intellects interpreting the actions of a thousand chess pieces on a board that extends for centuries. Methodically, they altered variables and watched them ripple through the weave of fate. Much change this new development had wrought. It would take years to chart these new seas. Years, as many paths suggested, the Angvai might not have.

Yeah Ynnari are awesome. If you think about it, the events of the Fracture of Biel Tan happen in only a small section of the galaxy, meaning that for the majority of Eldar the Ynnari are a pretty mysterious movement.

So, I came up with the idea that they started sending prophets and preachers through the webway to spread the word of the coming of Ynnead, like a religious cult.

As for the model itself, I wanted to try and bring a bit of a ragged look to an Eldar model, which isn't something I've really seen before, Eldar of all sorts usually being pretty clean and elegant. An Eldar Death Cult seemed like the perfect opportunity to try that out oh, and I managed to work in quite a few little bits from the AoS Vampire Counts as a little nod to the sort-of-necromancy the Ynnari are doing the stave is the base of a Grave Guard Standard, and the ragged cloak is two parts of a Wraith from the Corpse Cart stuck together

I've got more ideas to come with the Ynnari as soon as bits arrive I'll have a go at some Dire Avengers too

Thanks man

This one's a bit of a mish-mash actually (most of my kitbashes aren't nearly as extensive). The base is a couple of bits clipped off the High Elves hero base thing. The legs are from Dark Eldar Wracks (need to clip off the torso and hollow out a depression), as is the creepy pointing claw left arm. The torso is Dire Avenger, and the head is from Dark Eldar Reavers.

From there we branch out a bit. The cloak is made from two halves of the Wraith attached to the Vampire Counts Corpse Cart, shaved so they fit flush together. It comes with two halves of a hood attached, which were clipped off and glued onto the torso in place of the Dire Avenger shoulder pads.

The cloak itself is only the fore-arm, so there's the upper arm of a Dire Avenger bridging the gap between the cloak and the torso. The hand and stave is from a Grave Guard standard bearer, with the standard itself clipped off.

Oh, and the backpack antenna thing is from the Guardians kit, and the Harlequin Mask is left over from the Troupe kit (although any would do).

I think that's everything

Ideally, I want the Scythe Staff Top that's covered in roses from the Empire Battle Wizard kit to complete the stave, but lord knows if I can find one in stock anywhere :S seems other people know it's a cool bit as well!

For this week's distraction I've been making up some Eldar Void Craft from various bits and pieces I've got lying around always been a fan of space combat and general space-ship stuff since games like Freespace and Homeworld

So, here's the fleet so far

The largest ship is the Angvai Cruiser 'The Stars of Ancient Times Shine on Eldanesh (alt. Ageless Starlight, alt. The Grave Shines Brightest)' with a massive dorsal lance.

The second largest is the Angvai Frigate 'The Oaths of Old Remain Unbroken (alt. Oathkeeper, alt. Bound to Ancient Cycles)'. Smaller dorsal lance, and two secondary lances.

The last two are Khaine's Ravens Cloaked Listening Ships (modified from Dark Eldar Corvettes), 'The Shadows Linger in Twilight (alt. Fading Sunlight, alt. Hides-in-Shade)' and 'The Sword is the Bane of Brothers (alt. Fratricide Eternal, alt. Bonds of Kinship)'.

No relation whatsoever to game rules at all, but fun worldbuilding anyway got some cool names for a Corsair capital ship and a Craftworld Dreadnaught as well when I get bits to make them
