I recall seeing a thread once about "Hello Kitty" Space Marines, very funny, cleverly done, and patently tongue in cheek.

This is pap about girly toy horsies. Contributors really need to go out, drink beer ( not that gnats' water Americans call beer either,) and build more tanks.

I'm confused as to how any of this is mutually exclusive with watching a TV show.

If you want to put in the effort there are instructions posted on EQD to get the hair on the toys to look much more like that of the cartoons.

And g1 gets some love, mostly in the characters than the toys or shows. Firefly, Posey and especially Surprise tend to get a lot of attention.

I've seen a few with hair cuts and they dont look too bad but still, it would be nice to have a rainbow dash figure that looks like rainbow dash XD might have a go at sculpting come to think of it...

finished watching season 1 and I have to say it was great ^^ there was the odd bad episode here and there but over all I really liked it

It is a late Friday night and as I

have to ask why? Asking why is something
I am very fond of doing.

But first and foremost I do not despise you.
I am only intolerant of those who are intolerant of
other people or those who find the internet a
wonderful excuse to act like ass. My etiquette most likely
stems from my parents. One them being Hispanic and the
other German. And I was born in California, go figure. Also
I am not some young sod spouting off nonsense, I have
worked and am currently back in college.

I just wish to ask why you gentleman ( and ladies if
you are reading this ) are so fond of this genre? I watched
a bit of an episode and was not smitten by it.

And my greatest question, why was this show created for
a supposedly young female audience, but then there are many hints
towards other films and media? Would that not imply they created it
for the fathers or mothers of their daughters?

Now as I leave you all with the end of my rant I will say I enjoy theoretical
violence. I have never violently attacked another human being. But I do find
fictional violence and war to be entertaining even though I am well aware of the
value of human life, and so do many of you fans of MLP as I imagine you
are on this forum because you like at least something games workshop is doing. So
even though I am an androgynous fellow ( yet I like sporting a moustache go figure )
why do you enjoy this show?

Hopefully curiosity will not get me killed this time. Cause I found, goodness what was that
pink horses name, getting torn in half by a dread amusing. Mainly cause it is nonsensical, ah well.

For the second bit,

Children's shows and movies have a rich heritage of including nods to other media that no child would recognize.

Plus, kids don't buy merchandise, parents do. And if a parent can glean some amount of enjoyment from the show, all the better for sales.

As to why... everybody will tell you something different. For me, well, there are a lot of reasons. It's bright, it's colorful, and for something made with Flash, extremely well done. The writing is good, the dialogue is entertaining, the stories are beyond what you would expect from a kid's show, the jokes are genuinely funny and the writers never shirk from a terrible pun. The characters have traits that define them and believable flaws that they have to deal with and that color their interactions.

Gives me something to do on a saturday morning

I like it because everything is so well made (the polts, characters, the jokes etc), it makes me smile and its really enjoyable/relaxing to just sit back and watch.

even the songs are well made unlike most childrens shows. I even found myself huming to winter wrap up and at the gala the other day ^.^

Watched both this and last weeks episodes today, found the latest one better than last weeks.

But I too was wondering why I watched a show aimed primarily at little girls; after watching the show again today, I knew exactly why I watch, and enjoy, every minute of the show. Exactly the same reason I play Warhammer and frequent this forum: because I love every minute of it.

I found the perfect music for my new IG Army Luna's Legion.

For one, It's fun because it's one of the few pieces of fiction I enjoy that doesn't revolve around blasting somebody else out of existence.

Honestly can't say that I have. I didn't even know there was a new/contiuning show on. I just remember that evil theme song and trying to blow up poney land. Things where so much simpler when my biggest decision of the day was wether or not to stick a firecracker in one of the poneys or not. He-Man also got hit with artillery fire in the form of firecrackers taped/glued to them then ignited.


May I ask what a brownie is? It looks like someone who like's/liked MLP? Is that close to the mark? Maybe a male MLP fan?

As I understand it, the pony thing got started on /b/, and the term /b/rony was made to reference the fans there. Then it changed to just brony being an older male fan and the audience spread from those board. Anymore i think it's just more any fan outside the target audience, including the older female crowd as well as the male.

I like the show because it is well written, animated well, the characters are infectous, plots are decent, and the songs are catchy.

I watched the show first because I was curious to know what they had managed to do with it, since I played with the ponies as a little girl. Most other shows based on toys aimed primarilly at girls have been crap.

This one truly shines, and now I keep watching.

I learned something crucial. Painting horses(especially white) is hard hard hard hard. Did i mention hard? Dont forget it is hard.
But i think it turned out.....ok.
Barring the cutie mark and a wash of the saddle it is done.

looks good ^^ though I would try adding just a few more really thin layers of white to the body

mustered up the energy to put rainbow dash into some power armour (counts as commander with Artifacer armour, bike, relic blade)

I still need to add some more to the armour but you get the idea of where I'm going with this ^_^
