I looked into the new Nids codex.
They got a bunch of special characters with nice features.
Biomorphs are gone, and the ethernal special rule does no longer exist
Lictors cannot charge after appearance.
The big news is that the Nidzilla list seems to be gone.
Carnifexes are very pricey and their shooty weapons are even worse.
It appears that the new Nids require pods (like drop pods) which count as monstrous creatures.
Landing those pods in front of the enemy army will let the enemy one round of shooting.
As an Eldar player, Nids will even have a harder time vs mech Eldar.
A Serpent rush will fly circles around a Nids army and pick broods at leisure.

It's certainly an exciting time to be a 'Nid player. Figuring out new strategies and tactics, plus 5th ed rules. Good stuff.
I'd say, other then waiting for the codex to actually be in players hands, listen to experienced Drop Pod SM players. The 'Nid pod is a game changer, for sure, and its advisable to adapt tactics from the closest thing, at least in the beginning.

No weakness vs. Eldar?
From Warseer:
Venom Cannon: uses 3" blast now. They suffer a additional -1 penalty against vehicles. So, a glancing hit is - 3, a penetration - 1. You can wrec vehicles with this weapon now =)
Heavy Venom Canon: S9, same as above.
Nids will have an even harder time to take down Serpents in the new ed.

You understand that a fast army doesnt mean anything when your enemy can flank and hit rear armour with an incredible amount of shots right...? Just because they dont have 48" S9/10 Ap2 shots doesnt mean youre going to be immune.

Eldar or any others better not get too excited till the codex is in hands because out running tyranids isn't exactly a solid idea when mawlocs, trygons, genestealers etc can run you down tanks. Not to mention they will have big ass swarms for your single shots guns.. oh that sounds like a jolly good time for eldar.

The new nids will be tought, lets go throught the confirmed rules we have, directly out of the newest white dwarf magazine.
1) Zoanthropes can take an ability which gives them a str 10 ap 1 lance attack, range i don't know.
2) Hive Guard have a str 8 attack that does not need LOS.
3) The new burrowing models, Trygon and and Mawloc, leave a creater which smaller nids can enter the board from, counting as coming off of table edge.
4) The Mawloc also has a str 6 ap 2 blast as it deep strikes.
If anyone thinks that they built this book without giving it some thought to the current power builds like Mech Eldar or Valk/Vend Guard, you are in for a world of hurt as soon as you run into someone with a decent list. The days of nids being able to do jack squat to armour from range is insane. Throw in stuff like the ability to take furious charge and poison attacks, this is going to be a powerful codex until it is around long enough for people to adapt to it. Mech anything is going to have some issues. I know I play mech guard and eldar...... pain is coming.

Okay, here is my general battle plan gleaned from the rumors available to date.
#1: Send massive units of Hormagaunts in two-deep lines forward to restrict enemy mobility, with Venomthropes in tow to grant them that 5+ invulnerable save.
#2: Keep the Tervigons back and use them to farm a second wave of Termagaunts, protecting them with Genestealers and Hive Guard.
#3: Send in three Mawlochs from below and then have Termagaunts swarm out of the tunnels to sweep aside the enemy in a storm of small-arms fire.
It will probably not work, but the thought of it keeps me warm at night.

The eternal warrior rule will be gone so that a Zoantrophe can be killed by a single lascannon shot.

Yeah the new codex seems like it's going to offer a lot more for anti-tank as well as a lot more objections for deployment and movement.
I personally think it'll be great to play against mechdar. Between the hive guard, lictors, and pods I see a lot of AV10 rear armor shots happening. Not to mention podding Zoans/Tyrants which will also be nasty.
Mechdar just won't have enough shots to stop a new style nid army.
Oh and 'nidzilla is still very much alive in that you'll still normally see between 4-6 MC's, the type has just changed.

If you mean the Eldar will try to tank shock and try to claim objectives last turn, not much will change. Other than that, I'm just not seeing how Tyranids will fare any worse for wear against Eldar. Other than your claims based off of a preliminary read of an unreleased codex (IE: not many folks have actually played the new codex), I just don't really see how you can validate this claim.

Lictors cannot charge in the turn they arrive.
They follow the normal rule for deep strikers.

Well, Nids have a crappy BS and no way to biomorph it.
Against Serpents S6 is almost useless, even a Rhino will most likely survive.

NIdzilla will be worse then ever. Hive Tyrant, 6 Fex with the new broods rule, a trygon, and then groups of 3 wound warriors sitting in cover on objectives shooting god knows what bizare new biomorph at you. I think that there will be no useless entries in this codex. Daemons was the first one where everything was a decent choice, Space Wolf was the same thing, there are some more usefull entries but everything in the codes is solid in execution. Even guard had some units that were damn near useless in normal games.

I think the line is 'better than nothing'.
While a str 6 shot at back armor isn't too bad...and people do leave themselves open more often than not esp. if you have a pretty accurate deepstriker.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

BS3 on rear armor (remember you get to place the lictors, no scatter) equals a penetrating hit w/a squad of 3. Considering this is true against everything except a landraider, Monolith, or Demolisher variant 3 Lictors will get their points back nearly everytime. Not counting subsequent turns

Isn't there a separate entry for a shooty version of the carnifex?
Tyrannofex: Walking weapon battery.
It sounds to me like they've just split the entries for the sake of simplicity with each one maybe getting a couple "essential" bio-morphs for its role rather than having one entry with a zillion options to build up from. It would help them balance the point costs properly since there are fewer potential builds to weigh against eachother, which I'm guessing was the whole idea behind splitting the entries.
