Isn't there a separate entry for a shooty version of the carnifex?
No more Dakka Fexes.
Why no biomorphs? Are they gone completley?
Almost gone completely.

Honestly, I haven't looked at the codex yet myself. But I plan on reading it thoroughly when my pre-order comes in.
However, with the things you've said so far and unless all the broods have undergone MASSIVE changes. We can slow fast armies or flank them. Vehicles aren't really a problem since all of our weapons are assault weapons, move and shot is your friend.
I think with the new codex a mix of shooting and CC style nids are going to be the best choice, instead of making everything CC or shooty. So we'll just have to see but that's my feelings from everything I've read so far.

Seeing that units like Zoanthropes and Hive Guard drop Deep Strike and shoot it's not going to be that easy for mechdar and personally I think mech IG have some tough times ahead. While the Nidz lost out on items such as Eternal Warrior they have gained a lot of new exciting abilities. It's too early to say that they will be top tier but it looks quite promising to say the least. I am looking forward to starting a new army and you can certainly still run ZillaNids... It will just have some new MCs to choose from. In fact a Carnifex with the stranglethorn cannon looks quite good.

I think that people are focusing too much on the pods and not enough on the tunnels. Mystics really do a number on pods, but are worthless against units emerging from the ground, since they don't count as Deep Striking.

I've got a `Fex I've been SLOWLY working on making bigger, cutting it up and adding in a bunch of 1mm spacer plasticard to really beef it up without screwing up the proportions. I stopped work on it a couple of months back when I heard they were releasing `Nids in January, and now I don't think he's going to be a mere Carnifex anymore, I think he's definitely going to earn a spot as a Tyranofex. Extra big bad meanie with 6 wounds, 2+ armor, and a two shot strength 10 gun. Only BS 3 unfortunately, but should still put a good hurting on most tanks.

The Tyranofex could become a real pain, some kind of uber Carnifex.
