There's a lot of rumours regarding Dark Eldar, but I personally don't think anythings going to happen. Is it worth waiting for the new codex?

...tanks from the 23rd and 48th batallion were flanked by tanks from the enemies' 56th batallion. It was then that General Smedfordshire revealed his secret weapon: a slightly larger tank.

Please don't wait.
DE (or Eldar) will not be released in 2010.

I didn't.

Dark Eldar don't need a new codex to be powerful.

In fact, the DE codex allows to play competitive DE armies.

Yup. DE are a Glass Cannon, but when they hit, they hit hard.

Schweet.... This Christmas will be a DE Christmas then. If a new codex is released will any units become obsolete? I really don't want Drazhar to go!

Unless I'm mistaken the rules for Drazhar are pretty ineffectual given 5th edition. He's a nice model but way too big compared w/ other Incubi and Warriors. Sink his points into something more useful as a kitted out Archon is still one of the toughest characters to beat in 40k. I always love when my Archone goes HtH w/ a mob of orcs and wins

I'd stay away to tell you the truth. There's been rumors running about for all sorts of Dark Eldar releases, but there's nothing concrete for the future. Pretty much all we know is that the entire range is getting new, non-sucky models. I couldn't justify buying such ugly figures.

Wait WHAT?!? Kyoto makes a remark about hating the DE?!? NO WAY!

Seriously Id say go for it man. There has been rumors about a new DE release for a VERY long time. And yes, they are the poster children for your either going to hulk smash, or get you head kicked in. Its that cut and dry.

Dark Eldar are not bad right now, but the main reason I'm not really jumping on them is the minis line.

Ugh...

Cool fluff?
Actually good?
Cool where do I get started?

Well, the minis suck...

It's my moral stance that GW does not deserve DE sales until they get redone. Of course that's easy for me to say, having all the DE that I could ever want...
If you're gonna do it, I'd buy Eldar models and convert them. Those minis are much more tolerable.

An eldar with spikes a dark eldar makes!?
What is this!?

Ahem, anyway, I wouldn't hold your breath... 3rd ed was a long time ago. They were about as popular as the squats, and we all know what happened to them...

Well with a rumor and from Bols supposedly Games workshop has everything set to release new Dark eldar crap. But the problem for them is that they are waiting for the most opportune time to release them. Of course this is rumor and has cause of speculation.

This is good.... isn't it?

Well, this time GW releases codices with lots of character models.
Since Drahzar is available as a metal model, I guess that he will stay in the codex.

Why do you say Drazhar is ineffectual? I generally run a Dracon, Drazhar and 4 Incubi.... works well for me.

Oh Drazhar is a space marine gobbler, I love him. He's like 3 times the damage in one nifty little package. And he's one of DEs best models.

I have decided to get the DE. I really like the Asdrubael Vect model, but is he any good in battle?

Yes. He is a 4th Ravager with AV14. Ravagers are DEs most destructive vehicle.

Ive seen some people convert Eldar minis into DE. And I have to say, it doesnt take much to make them look really nice.

I've heard plenty of times that the DE might be the next race that GW drops.

So have I... But only from people throwing out wild guesses based on nothing. Word from GW is that they are not getting dropped and will be redone.

Indeed, GW seems will to give them an overhaul.
But do no wait for it as it may take too long.

Well as stated many times, Ive heard the overhaul is already done. They are just waiting for the "right time" to set it all into production. Ive heard this one so many times that it kind of makes me think its true. The world economy really sucks right now to relaunch a gamble. Its true that the DE are not really a high selling army (tho some PR and an overhaul would do wonders for the army lol)

But my thoughts have always been, if they redo the DE and make the codex a solid dex, with some sweet ass minis, then they will get HUGE sales numbers. Because I think the DE is that army that many people wished were cool enough to play.

I second King Cracker.
I put my DE army on the shelf during the 4th ed.
I'll play it again when the new 'dex comes out,
until then I'll stay with Eldar and whatnot.

Well it is true that waiting for the right time would be best for sales. But I do believe since this next year is so clouded that I wouldn't be surprised to see them releasing in 2010.
I know that if they did release the new Dark eldar I do know that many people would be drawn to them, and the only reason I keep on seeing coming up regarding them is that people don't want to start a Dark eldar with the old models or codex, and if a new one was released then I can see many people starting them back up or getting into them.

This is good.... isn't it?
