Hello all
As a longtime lurker I have been inspired to pull my finger out and to complete my speed freaks army. I am mainly using this blog to motivate me to finish the army in time for a tournament some time in march. So here it goes!
What I have so far is a mish- mash of sprues, old stuff, new stuff, black reach, and various "stuff" that you seem to keep.
first off are the deff kopters and buggies.
Fell free to post comments and critique either on the models or the camera work ( especially the camera work!)
regards

Nice conversions, I like that they are simply done rather than just glueing on a ton of random bits. The extended tail on the Kopta is great.

Looking good. Those koptaz are really nice. Your camera work seems fine to me, maybe a little more light for those darker areas on the buggies (the drivers).
If this is finishing, where's the rest of the army?

Yes, I did make it sound like I have nearly finished everything, most of my stuff is half finished projects (but not for long).
Iv finished a truk and will be posting it shortly Automatically Appended Next Post: Finished a Nob, his arm broke off so i put on a power klaw instead!
and here is the truk, I am unsure about it, does it need more armour plates or gubbinz??

Excellent job with the conversions so far. If I may, what was suggested to me which has worked infinitely better is when using your paints water them down just a little bit as to not show your brush strokes on flat surfaces.
This is in regards to the crescent moon flag. Just add a spot or two of water when mixiing a lil bit of the red and go over it again I believe you will make sharper fuller lines. Then fill it in. Unless that is what you were going for then ignore me!
Blood spatter on the blades. Litereally make it spatter! even if it gets on the figure it looks more menancing. What you do is water down a lil bit more maybe a 1:1 ratio with blood red. Dip the tip in the mix and run your thumb along the top spraying / spattering the blood onto the blades giving it more a dramatic effect.
Here is a pic showing it. Ignore snikrot though I suck at paiting. Just look at his upper arm and blades for the spatter....
My problem is making something look orky but not sloppy. Kinda the balance I am far from mastering.
I look forward to more updates keep up the good work.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47 |

Some paint is better than no paint! seriously though, there are lots of simple techniques that can give you great results with a little patience.
great conversions. I'm looking forward to the paint!

Thanks for the replies,
I do intend to repaint the banner, i found the first time that using thick paint gave a smudged effect which i wasn't too fond off. I totally agree that watering down paints gives a much better finish in the end.
In the mean time here are some WIPs of another truk that I have been working on.

That engine looks just as good as a towed generator as it does a tractor engine (not that I ever was confused by the first pic). You could run a hose or hoses (or wires) from the barrel to the block the engine is attached to. I really dig how the engines look like big orky batteries.

lol when I first read your comment I thought you said horses instead of hoses, I was quite perplexed
My plan is to have pipes connecting the barrell into the engine directly to give it a sense of connectivity. After that a smattering of bolted on armour plates and exhaust pipes and it should nearly be done!

Thanks for the idea!, it was tricky but I am very happy how th engine turned out.
Here is the completed truk, I experimented on the armour plate trying to make them more of a haphazard mishmash in comparison with the other truk in which the armour plates are relatively well ordered. What do you guys think? Which one is better?
Any suggestions for improvement would be much appreciated!

Those trukks are oh so very orky!
The first one, I think, could use a bit more right around the one exhaust on the side.
Honestly, though, they look like they could be battlewagons.
Keep going!
