Not sure how many Tyranid Rippers do I need to put on a single base for them to be table worthy,
they only have 3 attacks but I always see 5 on a base.
what should I do I have a heck of a lot and need them in time for the new codex.

Well I would just put three on a base so you can make more bases of rippers... I know Necron scarbs have three attacks and I use to just put three on the base.

Probably just three or more is fine. There isn't really any specific on how many are supposed to be on a base so as long as a few are on there its no big deal.

I like the Forge World ones. DOZENS of Rippers on the base.
I normally put 5 on the base, but I might start putting more on them just to get a better "swarm" feel to them.

I always use 4.
I think 3+ would be fine, the more the better. Below that it really isnt a swarm.

I reckon that any less than 5 just looks like a casual get together. I like the swarminess of the FW rippers. They actually look fearsome.

How many do you _NEED_? Just 1, since that's all it takes to properly indicate that that model is a ripper swarm. How many looks good, on the other hand, is a different question completely.

I put 3 to 4 on a base, because each additional stand I can create gets me that much closer to having an apocalypse-size force!

I use 3, it leaves plenty of space on the base to put rubble, dead marines, and other fun things. It also makes it easier to access them to paint if you're an assemble first and paint later person like I am. I felt that 3 attacks = 3 models. Plus it gives me plenty more rippers to use for more bases. A guy who uses 4 per base and has 3 bases could instead have 4 bases with 3 per base. Math whoo-hoo!
Mostly I like the open space for the model option and having the possibility of making more ripper bases by using less per base. Three is a good number.

I go with 3 on a base since they have 3 wounds. (Or at least had 3 wounds in 4th ed, I don't know what they'll have in the new codex.) I also have a base with 2 rippers and one with just one ripper to use as wound counters.
