Ok, after taking into account the criticism on my Mk. 1 (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/269414.page) and Mk. 2 (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/270055.page) lists, I've come up with a new Mk. 3 list for my Space Wolves in the upcoming tourney at my FLGS.

HQ
-Logan Grimnar (275)

-Rune Priest: Chooser of the Slain, Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf (110)

Elites
-Venerable Dreadnought: Assault Cannon, DCCW w/ Heavy Flamer (175)

-Lone Wolf: Storm Shield, CCW, Mark of the Wulfen, 2 Fenrisian Wolves (85)

Troops
-10 Grey Hunters: 2 Meltaguns, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino (215)

-10 Grey Hunters: 2 Plasma Guns, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen (185)

-5 Wolf Guard: 1) Mark of the Wulfen, 2) Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter, Power Fist, 3) Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter, Frost Axe, 4) Terminator Armor, 2 Wolf Claws, 5) Terminator Armor, Assault Cannon, Power Fist (240)

Fast Attack
-None

Heavy Support
-6 Long Fangs: Heavy Bolter, Missile Launcher, Multi-melta, Plasma Cannon, Lascannon, Drop Pod (195)

-Predator: Autocannon, Lascannon Sponsons (120)

-Land Raider Redeemer: Multi-melta (250)

Total: 1,850, 3 Scoring Units, 12 Kill Points

The plan for this army is to use the risky tactic of Drop Podding the Long Fangs led by Logan Grimnar behind enemy lines. Grimnar gives them Relentless and they can take out vehicles and soft targets hiding in the backfield. I know that the armament of the Long Fangs is weird and not the best, but it's what I have. The Grey Hunters with no Rhino babysit the closest objective, the Grey Hunters in the Rhino get the next closest objective, and the Wolf Guard pry one from the enemy.

I'm looking for general criticism and answers to a couple specific question.
-1. Should I get rid of the MotW and Wolf Standard on the second Grey Hunters since they will be staying back from the fight?
-2. Should I put the Rune Priest with the Long Fangs and Logan in the Drop Pod or keep him back? Should I give him Master of Runes and switch one of his powers to either Tempest's Wrath or Storm Caller?
-3. Is the whole Drop Podding in Long Fangs with Logan tactic too risky?

This list has literally no units that I am afraid of. It feels like a real hodgepodge of choices and doesn't really seem to threaten on any particular element. You have some mediocre assault troops, mediocre shooting units, mediocre objective holders, etc. I think you're trying to do too many things here, most of which the Space Wolves Codex isn't well-suited for. I hate to say it, but I'd start again from scratch.

The Long Fangs should not be equipping one of each weapon. You should run it either 5 of one or in some cases 3/2's. Drop pod Logan @ 1850 is putting a large amount of your eggs into one basket, and I do not suggest it for anything under 2k. I assume you are kitting the Wolfguard like that to abuse wound allocation? If so that should really be saved for models with multiple wounds as it loses a lot of effectiveness when you are still stacking those wounds on models with only one to lose. With only three scoring units @ 1850 you opponents will always have 1-2 more scoring units and sometimes 3 more than you. This will make it very hard to win objective based games.

All in all like the last poster said. You would be better served to hit the lab and rework this list altogether as opposed to tweeking it.

Just my opinion.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.

Actually, the Wolf Guard are armed that way more because of the restrictions of the Wolf Guard Terminator box, which only allows one to be built with Storm Bolter and Power Weapon (which I changed to a Frost Axe because I had 10 points left over).

The wolfguard boxed set isn't designed for you to field a unit of wolfguard it is designed for you to make heros to lead your units or to mix with other sets to "wolf up" the standard kits just like the Grey hunters set is. Your best bet is to decide CC or assault for the unit and buy the corresponding Vanilla Terminators then just using bits from the Wolfguard box to make them space wolfie or to make smaller adjustments to their weapons.

Its a fluffly list but not competitive.

Due to drop pod assault you drop Logan + Long Fangs first turn. You won't be dropping behind enemy lines you'll get slaughtered near enemy lines.

Redeemers blow.
The flamestorm cannons are so far back you can hardly ever hit anything with both that isn't already in combat with you. go crusader or standard.

You know most people model Redeemers with the cannons on the front door mounts, right?

This.

The OP is not taking any advice from his previous army lists.

Ok guys, I was just looking for some help to try and make this list better. If I could I would run a TWC pack with a Thunderwolf Lord, Long Fangs with 5 Missile Launchers, 1 or 2 Vindicators, 4 packs of Grey Hunters all with either Rhino or Razorback transports. But I can't run those things because I don't have the models and the tournament is on the 23rd.

I've been away from the hobby for about 8 years and I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. I figured it'd be easier to re-learn using my Space Wolves, rather than my Eldar. I think I've decided on the list I'm gonna run. Logan, Rune Priest, Lone Wolf, Wolf Scouts, 2 Grey Hunter Packs, Wolf Guard, Fenrisian Wolves, Long Fangs, Dakka Predator, and Land Raider Redeemer. I'm gonna go with a more standard deployment, no drop pod. Any tips would be greatly appreciated and when I put up a army wishlist to build to in the long run I hope you guys can help with that as well.

If you must use those units, I would a) equip the Lone Wolf with a thunder hammer or chainfist, b) change the Long Fang loadout/use Logan differently. Deploying Logan in a pod with a mixed-weapon Long Fang unit is just throwing good points after bad.

I didn't really wanna put that many points in the Lone Wolf, I was thinking of using him as more of a distraction than a killer unit, although with a TH or Chainfist I could use him to take out vehicles and MCs, I'd just have to find the points and scrap the cool conversion I was going to do using a Dwarf axe.
Yeah, I'm gonna be using Logan in a traditional manner, with his Wolf Guard in the LRR. I'm not using the Drop Pod at all. I wish I could change the Long Fang loadout (if anybody wants to mail me some Missile Launcher or really any heavy weapon bits, I would gladly accept them as the only other heavy weapons I have are metal, shoulder-mounted and funny-looking).

The problem with the Lone Wolf as it stands is that he doesn't really kill very much, and the enemy can probably ignore him. If you give him a more powerful weapon, they'll be forced to react to him. Also remember that his death can often be to your advantage!

I remember those days when the heavy bolter was an ugly tall red brick on your shoulder...
