I was just perusing the GW website to see what the new tyranid models looked like, and I see that they're selling Old One Eye and the Red Terror. I don't remember seeing them before, and I know the last codex took out special characters since everyone is supposed to be dissolved back into the same nutrient pool....

Does the new 'Nid codex have special characters again? If not, why would GW be selling models that you can't play with on the main tyranid sections, as opposed to in the collector section?

I think so,you can use Red Terror as a ravener but old one eye has stats now so he must be a special character.

Yes One eye is back, he is a heavy slot.

They have always been available on the site. At least for the last 4 years or so, that I recall.
Old One Eye and Deathleaper are both in the book, however Red Terror = Ravener now.

Old One Eye and the Deathleaper on as kirsanth said usable as an IC's in the new codex. The Red Terror has been left out and with the errata to its rules it does now count as Ravaner. *sad face* The Red Terror's special rules were pretty good, imo.

The Red Terror had his special rules given to the Mawloc. You're supposed to use him as an oversized Ravener.

There are also quite a few Tyranid SCs with no model as of current.

For Special Characters the new book has Swarmlord (tyrant), Parasite of Mortrex (winged warrior), Deathleaper (lictor), Doom of Malan'tai (zoanthrope), and Old One Eye (Fex). They're all pretty cool with some good stories behind them. The fluff for the Swarmlord alone makes me want to use him, as he's the one who WTFPWNED Calgar when the `Nids invaded the Ultramarines home world.

Did I misread the other awesome part where the Avatar came after him and the Swarmlord used his Tyranid Tactical Genius (TTG) to outflank a dozen carnifex at it until it died?

That wasn't the Swarmlord, or if it was, they didn't tell you. That was just some other super bad arse Tyrant.

Also, to be fair, there are no Tyranid IC's. None of them have the IC rule. They're all unique forms of their brood, but their not independent characters. Meaning, a Death Leaper can't join a unit of Lictors.

Parasite is an Independent Character, along with the Alpha Warrior.
