Subject: Blue Orks:"The Dedly Kombats"(full army record) Updated Jan 24, planning the Goff Trukk!
After a couple month's hiatus from Warhammer, I got some models for christmas which reminded me just how awesome making figures is. With my army half-painted I have decided to do a proper record for the whole army, which I will update regularly (with lots of pictures when more work is done). This should keep me motivated AND lead to some great ideas, same reason that everybody starts I suppose.
I should make my position on modeling clear. I love building and converting more than any other part of warhammer. However, as much as I would like to have better looking models, I don't enjoy painting enough to do much more than Base and Drybrushing (which is already a massive undertaking). I am going to make a black wash some time soon, as my models really seem to need it. I should also mention that I tend to cut down mold lines and such right before I begin painting, so no need to point them out on un-painted models.
Also a couple of notes on photography. My camera sucks and is not intended for these detail shots. I also am unable to take pics outside right now becuase, well, its winter. And a cold winter it is (blasted Canada). Anyway, I am currently using my kitchen to take shots because it has lots of light. I am doing the best I can, and throguhout this process am learning how to take better pictures. If you have any advice in this regard, I would love to hear it ("get another camera" excepted).
The meat of the thing! Here we have pictures of my most recent work and discussion of upcoming plans.
Recent This is my most recent noteable work (well, most of my work does something interesting, but this guy is praticularly impressive). The idea was to create a Nob with a Big Shoota and Power Klaw, just in case I ever wanted one in a Shoota Boy Squad. I didn;t intend to use all of these chaos parts, but they all semmed to work. the bottom of that mask will be painted too look like it has been charred by the heat from the gun. I may also crack it a bit. In the meantime it scares the bajeezus out of me.
Upcoming (Updated Jan 24)
I have to do some hardcore painting, but I have a cool modeling idea coming up. Take a peek at this trukk:
Ok, so this trukk is going to be the Goff Rocker Trukk, as soon as my Goff models come. So, here are my plans:
To place the rockers all over the trukk in awesome places, to be decided upon arrival of the trukk.
To give it a big banner with "Ork in a Shed" written on it (cause my band is named Man in a Shed, which isn't orky at all...but to hell with it)
To put some giant-ass amps can appropriate cabling everywhere. Because it would look better that way (I might also try to make a mixer, which would be to awesome)
I've taken a Grot Orderly and taken all of the Dok's tools of his head. I plan to put a big amp there instead so that he can be a grot roadie. Awesome!
If possible I want to make a drummer. I have no idea how to do this, but wouldn't it be fantastic?
So, from this we have 4 questions:
What could be added for increased awesomeness?
How do I make amps? green stuff? I don't think that those would look good, but I suppose that just comes down to my skill with the stuff (which is crap).
How do I mkae a drummer
Should I remove the Wrecking ball and say that they play so loud that it destroys passing vehicles? I bet I could come up with some good uses for that thing on other models, and it makes the Goff Rockers more meaningful.
Ordered/Going to the city to get very soon Goff Rockers (for the Trukk)
Propellant for my spray gun
More Plastic Glue
Want 2 more boxes of Stormboyz
More boys so that I can create full squads of shoota and slugga boys (presently I intend to do a "snipa' boyz" squad of shootas)
Stompa
Lots of Bits
Some Terrain to Work on
A better modelling knife
a Warhound Titan (nothing to do with the army but...damn...)
I want Lobbas to be cool again!

In a Society in which there is no law, and in theory no compulsion, the only arbiter of behaviour is public opinion. But public opinion, because of the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When human beings are governed by "thou shalt not", the individual can practise a certain amount of eccentricity: when they are supposedly governed by "love" or "reason", he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.

Its just a paragraph, but it gets the basic idea across. These aren't fething elves here.
I will probably add more in the future. Alot of my units could use their own blurbs. The Choirmaster in particular seems ripe for this...

Sorry I forgot that I might have to respond to this statement. Iv'e been playing them for long enough that it just seems normal now.
Blue orks BECAUSE:
A)I am colourblind. This makes painting them and playing against other ork armies much easier for me (since all the greens more or less look the same to me).
B)I hate doing things the same way that everyone else does. call me contrary.
C)I have a cool backstory.
D)My backstory lets me make them cybork.
E)Feth off. They My Orks.
All clear?

Maybe you could use some more colours on your figs and other techniques when painting, try using some layering for great effects, and maybe you want to check out the washes gw have? I tell you they are awesome. You can also try some highlights or drybrushing, it will improve your painting much. Just sayin and giving some tips, don't take me for a dork.

Interesting idea. I don't know how many people I could convince of that for playing purposes, but it would sure be fun. Part of me wants to modify them a tad (not sure how), but another part says "their cool enough! leave them be!"

I took all new photos of everything and laid them out in galleries by unit type, with individual shots of noteable units.
My camera is still balls, but direct sunlight and a tripod made for much better shots.

No, I haven't been feeling well and can't quite focus at the moment. My hand also isn't terribly steady. It shouldn't take long once I get over this horrible disease.

It's funny, but since they are so much fungus on muscle, they really could be any color. As there are so many different shades of mushroom.
Have you got any more paint on that nob?
