Don't panic, you're not that old, it isn't till 2012, which by my math should also be 6th edition.

So what would we want for the big quarter century mark?

I'd love it if they rereleased the original RT plastics AND did updated versions. So bring back the beakies and the Necromunda Spiders, the Orks and the Squats (I know... I know...) along with updated versions of all 4.

Even if they only did the marines we'd get shark missile launchers, bell flamers, beaky heads, it would be great.

A re-release of RTB101 would be good thirty marines to add to my collection some old retro love..

I don't think there are any original sculpts or moulds of the RT stuff. If you look at their displays RT stuff is very thin on the ground, it looks like they have had to scrounge most of it up.

A Rogue Trader mini or some high functionary of terra would be likely, and nice.

Shoulder weapons for marines would be nice, Custodes, Navigator?

WFB only got Harry the Hammer, some dice, a carry case and a fancy looking rule book iirc.
I'd imagine 40K would get a similar package.

The model WILL be a Marine!

I don't know that the plastic moulds still exist. I've long wondered why they pulled the Land Raider and Ork Battlewagon without a suitable substitute made for years. The RT Rhino was produced for a very long time by comparison.

My guess is the molds were used till they were worn out and GW couldn't afford to rework the mold or make new ones and maintain their release schedule. They probably just prioritized one over the other.

Gah, some shiny marine model and some 25th anniversary swag.

Still very, very excited though.

I think it will be pretty much like the WHFB one. I reckon they'll put on the oldest set of SM tactical squads (i think theyre called MK1 or something, cant quite remember) for a limited amount of time. I'm sure they would go down quite well.

Who would buy these if they went on sale?

Hi all.
How about a novel idea?
After 25 years of 'borrowing and mutilating WH rules' how about a rule set actualy written specificaly for 40k?

You know a 'clearly defined , elegant and intuiative rule set ', like other companies seem to be able to achive .

And a t-shirt. The one for the WH 25th is really nice, I've worn and washed it at least once a week since I got it and it still looks great. Yes kiddos, I said I do laundry once a week!

A mini of the emporer would be cool, or a completely new race.... like the jakero, or maybe the genestealer hybrids?

I don't expect much for the 25th Anniversary of 40k because...

Everyone that watches the History channel knows that the Mayan gods will visit their vengeance upon the world in 2012 and all life will change/end.

An Emperor model would be nifty, though. Or a space marine wielding the hammer and shield from the 40k rulebook cover. I'd wager it would be a space marine of some kind though.

The Land Raider mould was supposedly dropped and broken, and just took them a while to design and cast the new one.

The Battlewagon... I don't remember for sure if that was the same story (dropped mould) or if it was just some problem with the mould which made it horrible to cast. It was farmed off to Armorcast, who produced it in resin for a while. I would suspect that the long, long delay in getting a new model made was simply due to the popularity (or lack thereof) of Orks.

As for the anniversary, I could see them doing an Emperor or one of the Primarch minis... although I would put bets on it being in a different scale so it can't be used in the game.

More likely will just be an Emperor's Champion-style marine character model.

As a side thought, if they did make the emporer, what would be his point value?

He wouldn't have one.

If they made the Emperor, it would be purely as a display piece, and I would be very surprised if it was in 40K scale.

Having him as a usable model would only make any sense if they were intending to release rules and models for a pre-Heresy setting, which they've said repeatedly they have no intention of doing.

Which, to this day, amazes me.

It would make them lots and lots of money.

Personally, I think they're being coy when they say that.

They WILL do it some day.

Maybe not soon, but eventually, they will!

I could see them releasing the 'limited edition' RTB001 box and charging $150(AUD) for it, just like SpaceHulk or a baneblade and the fanboys would just eat it up. What? You don't believe they'd sell 30 marines for any less than that, do you?

OTOH, other, saner minds, would just sweep the 2nd hand sources for the originals.

More likely I think would be a 'set' of the old 1-piece metal beakies, sort of like the Dwarf Lords of Legend set from the Skullz program.

I'm hoping for a 40K 25th case, dice, fancy rule book with a copy of Rogue Trader(they gave us WHFB 1 with it's 25th book, why not?), and a Leman Russ re-sculpt.
