Right now I've got the ACR on iron sights, with FMJ for most games, but I switch to noobtoob for HQ games and some domination maps. Sometimes I switch to the FAL, though it's a bugger to aim down the iron sights on that thing.

Secondary weapon is dual G-18s with FMJ, I switch to them whenever I'm moving into close quarters and they do all right - though I'm thinking about grinding a pistol to do the same - prob the M9 because it looks cool.

I take a claymore and some flashbangs. Claymores for planting in doorways and other chokepoints, if it doesn't kill the bad guy it tells me where he is, while flashbangs are useful for any entry situations. Also, if I've taken up a defensive position over a couple of objectives and a teammate comes up and stands right next to me, it's fun to flashbang him before relocating.

I use marathon for my first perk - in CtF and HQ you need to move a whole lot, especially if you're trying to flank the enemy's line of approach. Though I do like scavenger when used with claymores.
Second perk is currently lightweight, but only because I'm grinding it to completion. I prefer cold-blooded and I have an otherwise identical kit built with cold blooded built in, if my team is getting hammered and the enemy starts deploying harriers, pave lows and all that I switch across.
Last perk is ninja.

That said, I have to admit I'm not playing that much any more, basically only when mates are keen to play. It's a small problem that some builds are simply better than others, but I accept that's always going to be the case, the problem is that the optimum builds are so stupid. A superhumanly fast guy who never tires running around with a knife? A guy dual wielding shotguns made more than a hundred years ago? I really enjoy the game when it feels a built like an action scene in a covert ops movie, but most of the time it just looks and feels silly. Oh, and also the lack of dedicated servers and proliferation of cheating.

Hardline.

Kill 2 players staking out a room with a grenade launcher. Call in a UAV then take out two fools who think your team has no idea they're on their way around your flank. Find cover, predator missile 2 campers who know they aren't going to get up from prone fast enough to get out of the way of that missile they see coming towards them on the radar. Call in harrier strike on the enemies busiest area. Then watch +100 come up on your screen as your harrier takes out the other team, while making your own way through the enemy with your primary and secondary weapons until death.

And repeat.

Knifers are without a doubt the biggest bunch of annoying motherfethers in the entire game. That being said...

Primary: SCAR-H with RDS/AUG H-BAR with Grip
Secondary: Raffika
Equipment: Semtex (for riot shield losers )
Special: Flashbang
Perk 1:Scavenger Pro
Perk 2:Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3:Last Stand Pro

Death Streak: Martyr

Killstreaks: Predator, Harrier Strike, Chopper Gunner

Depending one my mood, I'll use one of the 2 primary guns above. Both are total beasts.

I just find them annoying because chronic knifers have absolutely no skill. All you have do is run and occasionally press the melee button.

Even shooting people isn't that easy.

(I typically make it my mission to kill knifers and riot shields )

There's a difference between the occasional close combat (which does happen and I do knife in that situation) but when your killcam is just someone running around and luckily finding me is bs.

I love it when a riot shield hunkers down against a wall, so you chuck a grenade and it rolls behind them. Watching them take a second to realize they won't survive this one is just great.

I play on the PC version so it's much harder to maneuver when Riot Shields come at you so I developed a total fear of them, haha.

When I see one, I retreat back, wait for them to pass me, then I knife them or I semtex them. Either way, it's good.

One of my absolute favourite things is turn around and run away from the riot shield dude, ducking around a corner and placing a claymore on the ground. Note that as you were running away from the guy your claymore will be set facing away from the riot shield dude. When the riot shield dude pursues you he will run over the claymore, only triggering it as he passes over it - it will detonate into his back for a funny kill. It doesn't always work (sometimes you get knifed, or the guy trailing the riot shield dude caps you, claymores are a mystery weapon that don't kill reliably) and isn't as effective as semtex but it's a really funny way to kill someone.

And yeah, knifing is fun and a good part of the game, but the guys who takes a pure running build and commando, and then does nothing but knife is lame in the same way that someone who sits in some random corner waiting for bad guys to run past is lame - it's one dimensional play. See a guy, run at him, knife him, see a dot on the radar, run to location, see a guy, run at him, knife him. Compare that to a guy who's taken an assault rifle and shotgun, he's always deciding whether to engage at range or move in close with the shottie, and it's those choices that make for a fun game.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Well i'm one of those guys that either...
1. Completely camps out w/ scav, claymore, snipe or.
2. I run nothing but knife (its been this lately...my friends and i team up for alot of Cap the Flag and i flag run/knife people)

Seriously i laugh at all the people who cry about getting knifed, you realize how much harder it is to knife someone than it is to shoot them? Any idiot can corner camp w/ a shot gun the entire game and run a 5+ KDR, Its not hard to sit around and camp a firing lane w/ a sniper rifle quick scoping nubs that run around corners.

as a knife class, its like this..hmm people..they are facing me..im out of grenades.. i better run the other way and try to flank.
because heaven forbid a knife class get past a snipers first 2 shots, and the sniper then pull out his akimbo 1887's and blast you.. that would just be toooo simple.

Really, next time you people out there go dissing a knife class, especially the ones using a Legit game mechanic (care package) to run faster.

They are essentially giving up the use of any weapon other than a knife, they are using weaker weapons because of weight, they are giving up the use of a killstreak to run faster.

Really? I'm on PC too. What's your Steam? I'm on Bungd-up (Nickname) or St_anger_253@hotmail.com (Email). Should spank out a few games. Anyway, when I see one I take him head on with my knife, often accompanied by a call of "Come get some motherfer!". Oddly, I usually win too... Could be because riot shields swing slow and take a few shots to take someone down. So I can usually get behind the guy and finish him off with a good shank or a shotgun shell

Your argument fails on two levels. First up, there's big difference between noting something is unbalanced and looks stupid, and having a cry. A guy running around a modern battlefield with a knife is goofy, and there need to be no tears shed by anyone for us all to realise how goofy it is.

Second up, it's a lot easier to put a single round into a target than it is to knife them, but that's not the issue. The problem comes because in standard modes of play you need to put a lot more than a single round into a target, while the knifer only has to get with in a few metres and attack once. In any fighting that isn't in wide open spaces it is a lot easier to score a single melee hit that to put multiple rounds into a target - which is why the knife build exists. If you move to hardcore matches where people die a lot easier then you'll notice there are exactly no running knifers.

So, like, play the game how you want to play the game. The running knife dude is a legal build and very effective one, and there's nothing stopping you taking it. But pretending it isn't a dominant build that allows a player to score a lot of kills is just plain wrong.

I try to be a mobile sniper, for example quarry is my favorite place to go. I stick commando on with a barret 50cal and stopping power and sleight of hand.

I go to several spots, but the two story building in the left of the map is my fave. I'll sit near the window overlooking the back alley and when someone comes near, I jump out of the window and knife the guy. I think that defines me well enough as a mobile sniper.

I pretty bored of the game now. Thank god Mass effect 2 is coming. Never the less till then.

This is currently my fav class.

Tar with noob Tube
Aths (the first rocket launcher)
flash
Scavenger Pro
Danger Close
Ninja Pro
Painkiller

I love this cause its not just shooting bullets ( Ive prestiged once and am over that) Also the Noob Tube is awesome against campers in windows. ITs also awesome cause its a noob weapon which creates nerd rage. The Rocket is great fun and scavenger keeps the explodey goodness coming.

Also any Aussies noticed that Mosh pit (where all the aussies go) with its green lag is still harder then Team death match with Yellow/red lag. I can often do well in deathmatch but when I go to mosh pit Im lucky to get a UAV and get owned like a muppet. Bloody Australians with their leet skillz.

Well you've got to remember, most of the people playing MW2 are young teens - usually between 13 and 15. This tends to be the more temperamental age period, so most of those people you're going to play with are going to throw a fit if things don't go their way, which will be reinforced by ITG (Internet Tough Guy) Syndrome that also seems to rampantly permeate that age range.

Knife-farming only works on maps with plenty of cover and alternate routes. Skidrow, Sub Base, and Karachi come to mind as the perfect maps for this. Meanwhile, maps like Wasteland, Terminal, and Estate will probably see a knifer owned repeatedly and in brutal fashion. If a person wants to avoid knifers, take one of those maps. You might se one or two, but they'd be lucky to get even a 3 kill strike there. Me? I love making knifers do backflips with my shotgun, or sticking them with Semtex as they rush me. I'll gladly play against one.

No, read my post. If I had said there are counters to running knife builds then your reply would make sense. But given that the existance of various counter builds of differing effectiveness doesn't mean knifers aren't still a strong build, then your post ends up rebutting nothing.

By all means, take the running knife build, but be honest in admitting that it is a strong build, and also a goofy one.

I just find that most people online are giant cry babies, can run a knife and pull a 5dkr, turn around and run a sniper/defense class because they cried and ill run a 10+ KDR its like...sooo...you said i was running a knife to farm kills..looks like i do better w/ a intervention..

The point that you see lots of knifers on certain maps where they work well, and not on maps where they don't establishes that people take the class because it works well. I have no idea why people talk around the issue, just man up and say 'I'm happy taking a one-dimensional, goofy class if it gives me an advantage'.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
