Some of you here may recall the program "Alien Nation",a television program from the late 80's and early 90's,based on the film of the same name starring James Cann and Mandy Patinkin.
I honestly enjoyed this series (and the movie) and have recently rediscovered both.
Any other Dakkites ever watch this or have any other "classic" Sci-Fi gems to share?

Yes,spoiled milk is the aliens intoxicant of choice, they also react very badly to exposoure to salt water..it's like acid to them and will disolve their flesh rapidly. ,they also cannot metabolize cooked foods,so they eat stuff like raw beaver

yup was a great series, alot of good ideas in it the aliens were human like but the lil tweeks in matabolisum really made them stand out.
They play it here real late, on a 3rd rate channel and sometimes i manage to catch a episode. and the beaver was priceless. i use to laugh my head off at their habits.

Well, I've never watched Alien Nation. However I did watch quite a lot of,"The outer limits," when it still played on our local cable network. I only watched from episode 12. of season 5, my favourites being an episode called,"Manifest destiny," and episode 12 itself which I believe was entitled tribunal. I've been trying to save up money to buy the original seasons on DVD, it always seems to be spent on something else though.

Yes,the little quirks and such that the Tenctonese (aliens) display is fantastic, one can sympothize with their plight to "fit in" while retaining their cultural identity as well.
I also like the social comentary in the show concerning issues like discimination and racism as well as "illegal imigration".

@ Deff Dread red Edition.

The outer limits is a fantastic bit of classic Sci-Fi,not quite as good as Twilight Zone IMO,but great nontheless

A new day, a new time zone.

I think he was talking about the new Outer Limits series, which was hands-down better than any of the attempts at the Twilight Zone revivals. Of course, the Twilight Zone never had an episode with Alyssa Milano going topless, since they were network TV and Outer Limits was Showtime, IIRC.

Alien Nation the movie was great, and the TV show surprisingly good. IIRC, the TV movies used to wrap things up after the series was canceled were terribad, but that's how these things go.

Wow it looks like Hulu has all seven seasons. Alyssa Milano alien sex monster, here I come.

*edit*
Correction, they have MOST of all seven seasons. For some reason they don't have the first episode for them, or the first few of season one. Drat, I was really looking forward to seeing Sand Kings again too.

Virgin 1 over here in the UK is showing X-Files, ST: Voyager, ST:TNG and ST;DS9. they seem to keep chopping and changing the X files series order, which is annoying.

I liked the Outer Limits and Twighlight Zone in their prime they had some good moments and even some disturbing episodes (IIRC).

I remember watching Seaquest DSV every Sunday night? When it was on. Space: Above and Beyond was also another one that I remember watching with my dad when I was younger. I think i remember another show about humans on the moon, who had colonized it, and they had souped up moon buggies, and space suits that were customized with colorful designs on them. I don't think it took off though.

Sounds like Space 1999...
Does this look like the same show?

This thread has reminded me of something that has been bugging me for over 20 years: What happened to ALF? Didn't the CIA or FBI catch him in the end? Never saw the last episode.

Not sure how sci-fi it's considered, but I always enjoyd re-runs of The Avengers with Patrick Macnee and of course, Diana Rigg.

There was a made for T.V movie called "Project ALF" ,wich aired after the "final" episode of the series,in wich ALF is captured by some government alphabet orginization, although I don't recall his ultimate fate.
Maybe he OD'ed on cats.

This was the film...

Fitzz: S&S was pretty wicked movie. (I think I recall a quick scene of girl-on-girl butt massage.) I prefer it a bit more mainstream:

Earth 2 was the unnamed show you're thinking of. It lasted, I think 2 seasons because it was on NBC.

Space: Above and Beyond marked the beginning of Fox's policy of canning promising space shows that they then continued with Firefly.

Ahh,the 80's was a great time for Dolph Lundgren,he got to play Draco, The Punisher and He-Man all in one decade...who could want any more?

Honestly, when it comes to a film based on a line of toys ,I'll cheerfully take Dolph Lundgren vs Frank Langella over the current Transformers films .
And +1 for Courtney Cox

Alien Nation isn't a classic show, it's not even that old, I mean it was on when I was in high school so that makes it only...

Aw crud!

Anyway last summer I watched Babylon 5 start to finish, great show.

And before that the Batman 60s show, a bit tiresome but usually good for a laugh.

Bookwrack was indeed correct, I was referring to the newer outer limits. Perhaps this doesn't make them classic sci-fi as they were aired in 1995. However they were pretty good, although I couldn't say if they were IMHO better than the The Twilight zone as I haven't watched a single episode of the twilight zone.

Also I can't seem to get the intro to The outer limits, out of my head...

On a side note, what is Dolph Lundgren doing these days? Last I saw of him he was doing some silly adverts for Silver Star casino.

Dolph Lundgren has been in the directors chair as of late, but is one of the co-stars in the upcoming Sylvester Stalone film "The Expendables".
Their are also some rumours of his possiable appearence in an (as of yet unconfirmed) Conan film.

I'm pretty sure the Conan film is pretty damned confirmed. They cast Jason Momoa(Ronan Dax from Stargate Atlantis' season 2 and beyond) as Conan...which is an awesome choice, as he looks VERY similar to Howard's original artwork/descriptions of Conan as being a lithe, whipcord hillman rather than a roided out freakjob.

Speaking of old shows, when I was a kid, I remember a cartoon (60's or 70's vintage) a family & some scientists are trapped underground in this laberyth type place being chased by monsters (NOT LAND OF THE LOST) does anybody know what I'm talking about? I don't remember the name.
