So while at school today i was thinking wow some of the space marine units are awesome(namily sternguard vetrans and LRC)

But i love my Chaos Fluff. So i thought what if i got the space marine codex used regular marines with the addition of all

CSM i could use( termies, tac squads, ect ect) that way i could alreday have a good sized army.

As far as fluff these marines are just recently turned so they would have all there new fancy armor

+ other things CSM dont. so my question is would anyone have a problem with playing a mix of CSM and codex marine

models in one army using only Codex marine rules?

Oh and if anyone has any ideas for paint, modeling, fluf, ect, ect.

Post back whenever bye.

TheCyben: Seriously though, I'm not advocating GW to model any Boosh characters. If they have to pick one, it would have to be Tony Harrisson... but that would be an outrage.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Nope "counts as" allows this and Mick A has the right track as red corsairs make the most sense for fallen marines.

I would play them as "counts as" rules. However, if you want to use obliterators in a vanilla marine list, that I may have issues with (since they are just a pain in the arse IMO)

If I give you a cookie, will you go away? If I give you the bag, will you go far, far away?

I would not have a problem playing against it. Matter of fact its what i plan on doing with my CSM.

A lot of people are using the Marine 'Dex to rep Chaos. It's a better Codex for making Chaos lists anyway...

I'm trying to rig my proto-list of Alpha Legion so that I can play them by either codex as I feel like.

If your gonna do renegade marines (aka, marines who are slowly falling into the warp) I'd suggest buying normal CSM and paint them as falling (scratch out symbols, darker colors or armor fading to another color, etc.) and run em as vanilla as you planned. Its a good idea, kinda like post-heresy sons of horus (directly after the fall). But if you wanna do "counts as" using chaos for vanilla, thats a bit tougher... I can see why you'd want to, but honestly, if your gonna buy CSM play CSM.... once the marines fall completely to chaos, they are chaos. Thats just my personal bit. Have fun with it!

I see two options. Reading through the Space Wolf codex they have almost started wars with the Inquisiton and other Imperial organizations on occasion. There could have been a great company to actually go all the way and declare a war and not be able to recover.

There is also the possibility of Dark Angels. A chapter that turns despite the best efforts of the chapter to not give in as others did in the Heresy.

Then there's the possbility of a force of marines got lost in the warp. They were part of the Heresy and they got lost in the warp and only now are coming back out. Which would work if you don't care that the armor style is different.

Truly it is sad when another codex does an army better than the one you currently have. IE Using Space Wolves for World Eaters

In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

I don't see why it would be a problem. I intend to do it myself, once I have the 'impulse-buy money' to buy the codex. Fluffwise it's perfectly justified; why would a freshly turned space marine chapter suddenly throw away hundreds/thousands of years of tactics and superior equipment, just because they switched gods? And if they haven't had any contact with other chaos marines, how would they have gotten chaos marine tech to begin with? I can hardly see them collecting tainted shtick back when they were loyal. (although someone could probably fluff that one together)
I say go for it tobi-nid-guy, and anyone who would refuse to play you for it is a jackass.

I say go for it. There is a lot of creative possibilities there.

Just make sure what you are doing is understandable by opponents and I am sure it would be fine.

I'm back!
