Nate has been stripped of his title and banned form future conquest events. Not sure if this thread has already poped but here it is.
Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
Good for them. It's hard to admit a mistake has been made but at least they stepped up for it. Glad about the banning too since no one who had played him had anything nice to say.

Nate was the guy in the videos who was cheating, right? (correct me if I'm wrong). If so, then this is justly deserved. Maybe a link to the previous thread (or the site with the videos) would help those who missed it.
I just watched that video and I am outraged. OUTRAGED. Never in my life have I ever witnessed something as mindbogglingly horrible. How could anyone just stand by and not saying anything? How did this video not generate more buzz?
I mean... that carpet is horrible!
This is something that should have been mentioned before the event was organised. A warning of some sort perhaps - "Don't look at your shoes!" or "If you drop a model or a dice, forget about it - it's gone!" - or something like that.
Oh, and I think the guy was cheating in the video, but whatever, I was looking at the carpet!!!!!!!!!!

I'm having some troubles with slow video, but isn't it possible he deployed the fire dragons out of the falcon including their 6" move? I inform my opponent all the time that I am measuring 2" from the access point and adding the 6" for the squad move, which results in the leading model edge being almost 9" from the access point. Then the vehicle can make any kind of move it's fast enough for.
If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
When I play in tournaments I generally ask my opponent when I shoot a weapon to agree on the range
Lets say I fire a weapon and its 13" away I tell them "Do you agree that this weapon is 13" away? (This prevents someone from adding 6" movement + 6" charge and somehow getting more than 12") .. what this does is PREVENTS intentional or unintentional .. movement creep
Simple math and logic goes a long way to preventing interesting movement tricks
When I disembark I just measure 8" from the vehicle (if im also moving).. But I guess I also try to play everything fair :p
It sucks having to be CONSTANTLY vigilant but thats the price you pay for tournaments I suppose.. moral of the story, dont cheat on camera

It isn't just that, most people I've talked to agree that his pre-measuring (which happened all tournament from what I've been told) was the biggest issue.
Pay attention for how many times his tape measure sits on the table, extended to about 16" Also how many times he puts his arms down right beside his units. Both are common signs that someone is pre-measuring.

Lol, I noticed the carpet too when I watched the video. At least if something falls it will break less easily.
Best thing I have found to prevent this kind of stuff is a cute little blue device made by G-Force 9 which is exactly 6" long on one side, 2 on another, and 4 on the last (naturally with a small square cut out of the corner). When there is a major move (i.e. hyper critical possible charge or unit shooting) I hand my opponent this little tool and everything works out great. I've never had a guy get mad or refuse to use it. I think that's mostly because it's what I use it for too (and damn the charges it's made me miss by less than a quarter of an inch) so it's obvious that we just want to make sure everything is on the up and up.

this guy needs to get out of the hobby. He is TFG to the extreme. I have played him in the past and the games have been some of worst ones ever. He has been banned now from all the big events and most stores in the seattle area.
and
I had a belakor jump onto the floor and yes he didn't shatter but I could never find his pointing arm that popped free.

yeah that GF9 template is good. I made up some measuring sticks in the shop from 1" to 6". If a charge is tight. I can whip one of those out. It doesn't lie except with some terrian.

GG, I can see your point of view from your analysis of the vid, but I think it depends on how you define "cheating".
Shuffling models, leaving the tape measure open on the table, moving models part of the way, then going back and moving them more later in the phase- I would consider all of this cheating. It's certainly not covered in the rules. To do it once (let's say shuffling models) would be borderline... but to do it over and over makes it a major offense.
The "arm measuring" thing is also a blatant cheat, no question, as was the move that you confirmed to be much too long (19" for a warp spider). These alone would be enough to call for disciplinary action against someone if it was shown they did it intentionally. With all of the rest added in, it's way, way over the line...

Hey guys, I just got a PM from Mondo, the organizer of the GT. To clear up any confusions:
Contrary to what some have reported, Nathaniel's title was not stripped (as final results for the event were never officially posted), nor was he banned. Instead, he forfeited his fifth game due to 'gross mismeasurements' that were determined to have given him an unfair advantage over his opponent. This forfeit caused the standings of the tournament to shift from what initial reports indicated. In the final standings, Chase Lindo has first place and Zen Zhang second place. I've corrected the tournament results thread in 40k General Discussion to account for this new information-- congratulations to the winners of this event!

If he was not banned based on the video proof of his cheating then I say the GT organizers are lacking in backbone and do not have the gall to be running such events to begin with.
He forfeited a single game? And his last game of the GT at that. To admit cheating in a single game is to bring all previous performance into question.
Cheating at these things is not such a small ordeal as cheating in a video game. Even there you get banned from servers for it, and in many cases that ban is broadcast to other servers.
People spend hundreds or thousands of dollars into this hobby, and many of them see fit to play competetively with their investments. It is no small feat to take the time to participate in a GT and as such cheating by one ruins the experience for all.
It is solely the principle of the matter. I once had a friend who cheated in a $10 draft tournie of Magic the Gathering, and being that the prize was the cash earned by the draft myself and a friend of mine took that cheating very seriously, and we lost a friend over it.
Cheating is cheating, and those guilty should be made an example of.

HAHA wish I had read this before I put mondo on ignore. I was told banned by some people inside the community just to clarify. I am not gonna name names because well I don't feel like getting them called out. Now I am semi happy with the choice and I called and congratulated chase last night, and I also send my congrats to the 2nd place winner. On that note I think it is spineless for them if Conquest won't ban a player for blatant cheating, and for one will never attend any of their events. This new system that GW went to great lengths to set up whether I agree or disagree with it has set a new presidence upon tournement play and has somewhat elevated it to the next level. As such with this change in play I feel tourny organizers need to also elevate the level of punishments, and play. With that said and my final two cents on the topic I am happy even this minor change has occured. Pls lock thread.

I am locking now. HBMC is right. That carpet is just too horrible to look at.
I leave you with this thought though. Having a G9 template is good, but having a tape measure out is bad? Ok...Havings said that the G9 template really is very useful.
