Well my girlfriend has recently started up a space wolves army. And since so many of the aspects in the list reminded her or the Norse mythology AND her love of the mavel comic character. I was commissioned ot make her first HQ in the image of THOR!!

I think he is little bit smaller than normal space marine doesn't it?

He looks a little smaller due to his lack of power armour, but he is the same height of a normal marine

Thank goodness you posted the pic of Thor, I was going to ask what the nipple shields were for.

Looking good so far.
Have certainly captured the right 'feel'.

What head did you use?

Looks great

Without the iconic SM shoulder pads, it seems a little less imposing than a hero character should be. If you can replace the ravenwing icons with the actual SM helmet wing bits that'd make it more like the comic. Other than that, it's a pretty cool conversion.

The head is from the Space wolves troops box set. Just cut the top of the head off and added the green stuffed helmet and wings from the raven wing kit.

What helmet are you refering too exactly Breotan??

Both arms seem to just look oddly positioned, I don't know if it's just me. The overall look of the model is good, and it looks alot like the picture you posted, however the arms just look wrong.

agree with the above nipple comments. no one should be able to outnipple Straken! otherwise, very cool conversion. so, now it's possible to make he-man, lion-o, and thor using the SW kits.

Cool conversion, however the nipples and some of the scaling does look a little odd. This makes it difficult to take the model seriously. Perhaps posting a pic next to another marine would help.

Not too sure about the scaling. His hand looks approximately the same size as his 'ead.

Really sorry but I don't like it... he kinda looks deformed. Don't get me wrong I'm all for humiliating Space Doggies as much as the next man. But he just looks erm... odd!

rather than have the bomb comming out of his chest ive got it on his belt but still wired into the place where his 2nd heart would be (Sorta hard to make out in the pic)

Next up we have a generic Iron Priest.
He is a bit hard to make out since he is partly undercoated, but his chest plate right should pad and back are from the space marine tank commander (so they have the tech marine icons)









And last but not least. We have a WIP Ulrik the Slayer/Generic Wolf Priest.



And I tell you! having to build my own Wolf helm of Russ was DAMN TRICKY but sooo worth it. Still gotta do some work on the eyes and clean up the green stuff. Im just waiting on some bits to get here in order to finish him off

Thoughts?

I'm not sure i'm quite as impressed with the named characters. There just seems to be a lack of presence. The conversions are good but perhaps with a little more work they will look better. Lucas needs a smirk, like he's always going to get one up on his opponent even in death. I am working on a wolf priest myself and so know how tricky it can be to make a good conversion for spacewolf characters.

So far so good keep up the good work!

Nice conversions. I like Thor actually, I see what you are going for. My only real gripe is that he looks a bit static, but that´s from the artwork, so no probs.

As for the helmet wings you were asking about, I believe those are in the space marine commander box?

The other characters are fine too, Ragnar in particular is nice, with the huuuge sword.

Oh, good start on the wolf helm too. Will be fun to see what you make of it.

My only gripe is the back pack this can be changed with the devastator box take the Sargent's backpack cut off one of the vents and add the rocket launchers backpack arm the arm is there but folded down.

Overall, very nice! I would spend a bit more time on Ragnar's Frost Weapon. The joint in the middle is a bit too obvious, and the weapon's slightly off true.

But otherwise, very nice. Great touch on Lukas' bomb and I love the Iron priest.

I like these very much, except for Thor. He's a really good conversion, and I know Space Wolves are Norse, but I don't think he really seems Space Wolfey. Also, the Green Stuff holding the two parts of the Iron Priest's hammer should be touched up so it doesn't look like two different parts. Other than the, I love these guys!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah Thor has really not had a very good reception to be honest, but the person who its for really likes it so I aint gonna change it

Ill be going back over ragnars weapon when i get a chance, the join as was said is fairly rough n needs to be smoothed out and lined up better

Been worken the past few days on the Ulrik the slayer!

So here he is!









The 2 hardest parts of this was the Skull helmet and his crozius. Had to wolf up his crozius with the skull that I shaved off one of the storm sheilds The Skull helm of russ was also fairly tricky. Was made from the belt skull from the space wolf box, a lower jaw from a skink priest thing from the Stegadon kit and a marine helmet. Very tricky but worth it.

So thoughts?

Ulrik is your best conversion here. the crozius looks really good, the only part i think needs a litle extra work are the eyes. I'm not sure what but there something not quite right.

I guess ulrik is supposed to have a killer stare, but that might come through better once painted.

Yeah thats sorta my thinking too. Im of 2 minds about the eyes (can remove em since they are not glued should i wish) but cant really think what else to do about them.

Get some small beads That would replicate the eye in the socket better than a flat lens like on a normal marine's helmet

They're too high, would be the main problem.

The skull is sitting too high on the underlying helmet. Forms a ridge along the top of the head, and pulls the eyes up too far.


I know you said the helmet was tricky as it is, but I think it would benefit hugely from being pulled apart again and removing more of the helmet so that the skull sits more inset, with the eyes more level with where Ulrik's own eyes would be.


Otherwise, they're effective, creative conversions. Heck, I don't even like Thor, and I got a good chuckle out of the conversion.
