I am duplicating this thread in news and Rumours and the sub-board with the AT-43 stuff so anyone interested gets a chance to see this.
Rackham have just started a sale lasting until 14th February. Now Rackham prices are very steep, espeically compared to Miniature Marker and warstore however 50% off selected lines is nothing to be sneezed at, especially as selected lines include the entirity of the UNA Therian karman and red Blok range, or at least those in stock, plus lots of Confrontation too. Other items are at 10% off, but allowing for Rackhams stupid prices this is no deal.
Also of note some items are in stock and heavily discounted that missed the firesales, either because they were released after or were very good and snapped up.
This includes:
Nakovalny Sierp
Hussar
Easy Trikes
Storm Arachn
Succubus Golgoth
Fire Crawler
Defender Cobra M8
Fire Toad 04
Of course there is a lot more than that, but I have highlighted units that have been difficult to get, or were never in the Firesales and are discounted at 50%.
It is important to note that even on the first day of the sale many many units are missing. No Dragonov, many TacArm and Kolossus suits are missing and of course no Steel trooper attachments.
However this is a good opportunity for those who smart bought in the sales last year, or even this year, to complete collections at a reasonable price.
Cogs and ONI are not discounted being recent lines, 9some items get 10% off) but many Lion items, which are new, are on 50% discount with the rest at 10% discount.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Is there another reason for a sale? It's really difficult to have any sympathy for Rackham after Conf 3. AT-43 looks like a great game, but the trust just isn't there for me.

I suppose one could hope that the sales are just due to the fact they are so expensive on their own site compared to other outlets.
I personally hope that it is a sign they will go out of business and sell their metal molds to another company who will produce the hell out of them. *sniff* they used to make such cool models :(

That pretty much summed it up for me too.
Rackham closed that door for me a while ago with that whole debacle.
I do pick up some figs occasionally on eBay for conversion use though....

Sadly, I admit that I quit too with the large Conf' 3 final debacle.
But the company is in way better shape now than last year.

Oh, I could hardly tell you how I was ashamed when I learnt what Rackham did to their production facility, and to a lot of their talented sculptors, painters... There were competent and passionated people in there. People get fired when they decided to go for made-in-China-plastic-crap. All molds were destroyed, facility was completely dismanteled. Only masters of mini's remained in their possession. This happened quite a while now...
Quite recently, Ludikbazar, a french discount retailer, bought all Rakham remaining stock of lead minis (the last productions runs). Go there if you can't find what you need on zebay.

What is wrong with C3 - I liked it, it was fun and flowed quite well. Sometimes it got bogged down but it was still exciting. Once they moved from C3 to plastics that's when I stopped purchasing from Rackham - literally zero purchased. Ahhh Cry Havoc, now there was a magazine to look froward to.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games. |

Happens a lot to my threads.
Anyway I got my order in, you need to pay over 100Euro to get free shipping outside of France, but there were enough deals for the pricetag. Filled in some blanks in my army.
I was tempted by the Hussar, but I think I will still convert one from a spare Urod I got on Miniature Market.
its interesting that the sale was an discontinuation of stock sale, which oddly enough covers many entire lines. Are Rackham discontinuing Karmans? that I could beleive but it looks like thy would be discintinuing UNA as well, in fact everything except Cogs and ONI. So my guess is a repackaging and reissuing, probably with whole integral units and possibly reduced packaging. AT-43 must be here to stay, for the time being, or they would not release new armies, and the game does need repackaging. Perhaps they are getting wiser to their overheads.

Well the price isnt bad, and will do free international shipping, which MM will not do. Between that and the fact that you could never get some items on firesale, or for thast matter get some at all i think there is enough here to bite on. Yes MM is cheaper for items not on the highlighted list, but MM cant sell you Sierps and Hussars, do you have any of those Luna? They are highly recommended additions to your Red Blok collection.

Under postage link bottom of the page:
http://www.rackham-store.com/en/content/postage
For Canada this means spending 120 euro to get free shipping. 28 Euro shipping if you order less than that.
I added a Fire Crawler to my order to bring it over the 100 Euro mark for Uk shipping. I only have one Fire Crawler and had to shop about to get that cheap so it was a no brainer.
I decided against the Hussar too. It doesn't need the double rocket rack for a start, it has no greater firepower than s single rocket rack anyway so its confusing. As for the lock shot missile. Imperial Guard hunter killer missiles (new version) look very sovietesque being similar to the AT-3 Saggers Warsaw pact vehicles used to carry. It should be a simple enough and interesting conversion job.
Edit on your edit:

I think that means all French taxes included. Canadian customs is your only price worry, but that no different than when ordering from Miniature Market yes.

When I put in my order today it showed the price plus the VAT (Value added Tax) as seperate items. Do not worry about that as its included in the price. So my 105 Euro order broken down into goods and tax, its all ads up to the price of the order as you see it. It is NOT a hidden charge.
There was no tax percentage on the shipping charges on the billing before I added a Fire Crawler and got free shipping. thus there is no tax to pay on the shipping rates. If you order enough to avoid shipping rates altogether you are paying 0% tax on 0 Euro shipping charges.
LunaHound wrote:

initially no. Because the Fire Crawler has such a fearsome firepower, having two main guns unlike all other *** vehicles. To buy two gives my UNA four big guns which might be unbalancing a bit. However i have two of every other *** vehicle, except ONI or Cogs, which I dont own, yet. And Karmans because I am getting one of each.
As a model the Fire Crawler is impressive and I like it. the only *** vehicles without a wow factor are the Karman ones, they are big but not *** scale. I also accuse the ONI heavy tank of being a thinly disguised ** vehicle, but that is not a problem. i intend to do a lot of switcheroo with turrets when I get my ONI and get some proper 28mm resin tank chassis for the tanks.
As for how they play, they are all awesome and well worth the points. though I cannot confirm awesomeness in the ONI vehicles having never played them. the Fire Crawler is brutal because of its horrendous fire volume. the Karman *** vehicles are hard to kill and very mobile. Baal Golgoths are hard to kill because of routines but suiffer from having one long range and one short range gun. the Dotch Yaga has limited accuracy but doesn't care much, especially with the heavy mortar. This weapon is very Sovietesque it ensures 'accuracy' by having a blast radius bigger than its expected scatter, a very Russian solution yes.
Do not buy a Dotch Yaga, just get the army box from Minitures Market, also consider them for Baal Golgoths (currently out of stock), and King Mammoths they were selling them as low as $18 recently. In fact the Fire Crawler is the only *** vehicle you might want to buy in the Rackham sale, that one will cost you $45 plus shipping otherwise. Though if MM are not going to restock Baal Golgoths at budget, Rackham might be your last chance for those.

You have every reason to be sceptical H', Rackham have borrowed straight from the GW book of management competence, which is something they need like a hole in the head.
Still the minis are out there, and let me assure you are very nice indeed. Every now and then the price is right too. As you, like myself are a notorious tinman with very few painted armies getting quality pre-paint is not that bad an idea. Besides many of the models can be used for 40k, future moderns games and other SF properties like Dirtside because while the aliens are distinctive the human factions, zombies aside, have a 'near future' edge to them that fits most generic, i.e non grimdark, SF backgrounds.
As for the ONI zombies, if you cannot see a place for slaves with grafted in shotguns and buzzsaws in 40k you are unworthy of your collection.

I looked at the sale but as an American who has to convert from Dollars to Euros, it wasn't very attractive. The "sale" prices still come up as more than firesale stock over here in American web stores.
Pretty much the only items that might be worth it for American buyers are things that are out of stock over here...the Sierps came to mind, but I found three of them by utilizing excellent search-fu.
There are a LOT of out-of-the-way American web stores that have most of what is thought to be "out of stock." One simply has to look for them.

YMMV, for a non American it means not getting free shipping on firesale items.
When you add up the formula:
Miniature Market firesale + shipping > Rackham prices - discount + 0 shipping.
In Europe the equation is even easier.
Miniature Market firesale + shipping + customs > Rackham prices - discount + 0 shipping + 0 EU customs.
The core price difference is a killer, but there is enough to go on.
I found a Fire Crawler and a Cobra M8 on sale by sifting though. I do agree that you can make your money go a lot further by a careful search.

Sure it costs like $4 per box more expensive for me than MM sale , but FREE SHIPPING cairnius , FREE!
That means , i get to order as much as i feel like , and wont get hit with the $60 shipping fee!
so $60 / 4 = 15 boxes worth!

Pretty much how I see it, though you can break even to non EU and US destinations.
Rackham for all its posturing might close, it clearly has no control over its manufacturing, they have Chinese fleas and are itching. This is the eventual fate of outsourcers.
While I do care I am stocked up for the end. may armies are big enough that if Rackham disappeared 'tomorrow' I would firesle up all the ONI i wanted and play on. Just because a game is dead doesnt mean its dead, in fact with no Rackham to feth up the rules fan editions can finally flourish. Near complete rewrites where needed.

The price is in Euros Luna, cost a lot more than dollars.
To save on the equation you need to spend no more than 150 Euro.
Even with all the discounts Miniature Market firesale (where available) is a third cheaper. You have to account for that third accumulatively. Once you have got enough to qualify for free shipping the prices are fairly comperable.
The best part of the deal is what you can get, and also firesale items are few and far between, pretty much all the Karmans and a fraction of everyone else.

Buy the larger amount, if you want the extra box, if not not. If you want the box you may at some time have to make up a whole new order somewhere to get it. Besides enjoy yourself.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. |
