Ok, starting off a new year with a new PLOG. Last year I worked my way through my Ice World Guard, Khorne Mortals, Tau, and most of my random crap. This left me with two large unfinished projects - my combination Krieg / Witch Hunters force, and my Lizardmen army which I started when they first came out in 5th. Sadly, after having tried getting back into WHFB last year, I have found that the game no longer appeals to me in the current rules set, so the Lizzies are being swept off the project desk and into the closet. Perhaps 8th edition will cause me to bust them out, we'll see.

So here are the current projects, with the standard Green = Done, Orange = WIP, Red = Not Started:

*EDIT* I've gone mad! I've gotten crazy about painting and collecting models, so there are now a boat load of new projects!

Infinity:
Aleph Starter Pack
Aleph Nagas Sniper
Haqqislam Starter
4 Yu Jing Models (I forget the names)
Pan-Oceania Doctor
Pan-Oceania Orc with Boarding Shotgun
Nomads Spektr Sniper
Nomads Zero with E mauler
Nomads Tomcats x 2
[/orange] (I absolutely love these models and this game!)

Krieg / Inquisition (Kriequisition?)
(*edit* These guys are actually going to join my ice-world Dnothian regiment, so won't be red after all.)
[color=red]Company HQ
Platoon HQ
5 Infantry Squads
3 Heavy Weapons Squads

Death Strike
The Medusa got stolen by my other army!

Sisters
Seraphim x 10
Callidus Assassin x 2
St. Celestine

And since I'm incapable of leaving my Dnothian 1st guard army alone, I have bought a few more goodies for them. I'm not going to list what's done for them, as I did them in a previous log and finished them, only the expansions that I'm currently working on.

Valkyrie
Another "Snow Cat" Pattern Chimera
A "Counts As" Chimera for my commmand section, which will be sort of mobile command bunker
1-2 More Armoured Sentinels
A Medusa
Command Squad
6th Infantry Squad (8 models - HW Team already done)

After finishing Up my Armies, I found it was relaxing to think about buying some one-offs without collecting a whole army around them, or for RPGs.

Fiendish Crocodile - This is a great model from reaper, and really amuses me. He looks so happy!
Tree Woman/Dryad - Want to finally paint up this model I sculpted.
*edit* Added boatloads of new random RPG/ fantasy models!
Reaper Viking Lord
Reaper Viking Female
Mantic Ghouls x 2
Reaper elf with rapier
Reaper Wizard
Troll Forged Quetzlcoat Sun God
Troll Forged Sci Fi Ganger
Troll Forged Mon Goblin

*Edit: Also, the advent of 8th edition has gotten my Lizardmen out of the drawer for repainting, and I'm working on my Tau! Madness, I say!

Cheers,
I needed to create this plog to organize my thoughts, otherwise I tend to forget what I have going and spend too much time on Ebay rather than sorting through my current projects.

*Edit: I took out anything that I had finished last year, so that I can see what I've accomplished this year more easily.

*Edit: With the advent of the new Blood Angels codex, I have also started painted my Space Hulk set. God help me keep from buying a whole new army!
*Edit: Ha! My friend who is an excellent marine painter is now painting my Space Hulk set in exchange for sculpting. One less project!

Ok, the very small amount of painting I've been able to do lately consists entirely of basing and drybrushing this Fiendish Giant Crocodile, which may just be my new favorite Reaper fig.

Here is the "Scrapyard", holding the 4 vehicles I am kitbashing. These will eventually be: a Deathstrike, A Medusa, another SnowCat, and a Command Chimera ( which will look a little bit more like a Repressor).

And here is the WIP of the Medusa:

Finished the croc last night for fun. Here are some shots (sorry about the flash!)

Ok, so tonight I watched some mediocre movies and got some more work done on the Medusa. I am pretty pleased with how it is coming along. It is my most intensive kit-bash to date, with the entire central chassy (sp?) being built from scratch, along with the driver's front hatch, turret ring, and gun shield. The railing is just laid in right now, not glued, which is why it is all wonky, and I have lots of gap filling and sanding to do before I move on to detailing and rivets. (Lord how I am dreading the rivets.) I might just cover the whole deck in tools, sandbags, and engineering supplies to avoid having to deal with it.

Latest progress:

I also re-organized all my art and hobby supplies, and came across a whole bin of cheap toy vehicles and scrap that I have been saving for terrain. The mood was right, so I whipped together a quick piece of area terrain that should also obscure vehicles (though a crafty tank gunner should still be able to line some shots through it.) The background for my Guard army is that they are a PDF for a planet which is sort of a graveyard of ships and armies - they lie close to a warp rift or spacing lane on a combat zone, so armies are constantly using the planet to refit and repair, and sometimes ships will crash to the surface, leaving it littered with wrecks and discarded technology.

This piece is a hasty fort/watchpost dragged together so that the guardsmen can provide cover for the reclamation crews while they work.

And last but not least, I found the time to sort out a few guardsmen who had been tossing around in my bits case without a use into a new command squad. My current command squads are all shooty, so I figured I will try a cc oriented one, with a body guard, power weapon, medic and a few flamers. Probably really expensive and not very sound, but it will be a break from standing and shooting all the time. They are the guys on the terrain, and below is a shoddy pic of the WIP officer:

Ok, got the Seraphim done. I'm pretty pleased with this unit - I think the flying bases came off well, and I did some converting, even turning two sister superiors into regular Seraphim. (For some reason, every Sisters lot sold on Ebay has at least one of the old Seraphim Sister Superior. Don't know why.) Right now the unit has 2 sister superiors - hopefully the rumours of a new codex are true, and soon I'll be able to by a new box of plastic Seraphim for one of them to lead.... I'm not gonna hold my breath though....

Fist Sister Superior with Eviscerator:

Second Sister Superior with Power Weapon:

Back View:

Back View: Mmmmm....asurmen blue.....

One of the converted Sister Superiors. Man, I love that helmet:

The whole dang squad:

I also built my first of the new Sentinels - a really nice bit of kit! I love these guys. I don't think the Armoured version is very cost effective in game, and certainly not when a Lascannon is added, but I simply love the way they look so I built another one that way. (I did give him a magnetized Heavy Flamer, though, as that does seem to be a good option for shoring up a firing line.)

Armored Sentinels are better w/ plasma cannons . But yeah magnets or pins are the way to go. The new kit is truly beautiful and there is much fun to be had in the setting of the legs...

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

The Seraphim look phenomenal great job on then, what bits did you use to convert the Superior? A Canoness arm with a Bolt Pistol?

Yeah, I was starting to think I had been blacklisted or something! Thanks for the kind words. The croc was really fun - just some washing and drybrushing and done.

konst80hummel wrote:Armored Sentinels are better w/ plasma cannons . But yeah magnets or pins are the way to go. The new kit is truly beautiful and there is much fun to be had in the setting of the legs...

Yeah, I had better try and get some plasma cannon bits. Right now I don't have any, but I'll probably try it out. Although part of me wonders when the guard all of a sudden had so much plasma technology that they could strap it to the side of suicidal scout pilots...

calypso2ts wrote:The Seraphim look phenomenal great job on then, what bits did you use to convert the Superior? A Canoness arm with a Bolt Pistol?

Thanks very much. Actually, I just used spare plastic bolt pistols. I cut off the hands of the original model, drilled holes in the body and the bolt pistol, bent some wire and glued it in place, and sculpted new gloved hands out of green stuff.

Ok, more pics:

I have one of the old, metal sentinels with lascannon, which is why I got a lascannon for the new one. This is what the Sentinel will look like when painted:

And here is my WIP Valkyrie; a painting project I've been dragging out for a long time. I need to finish the camo pattern, so I can get to the fun part - weathering!

Close up:

I painted the interior and added a rail of hand straps down each side and a bench in the center. (I did lose several of the handstraps when I was looking at it a few weeks back and dropped it onto the carpet, where it exploded into about 12 separate pieces. :( ) :

In retrospect, I probably won't paint the interior on the next one, as the model is so thoroughly enclosed that it's nearly impossible to see the interior due to the shadows, unless you hold the Valk in a very precarious fashion....

And finally, I sculpted and cast myself a Tree Woman a while back, when I was going to make an entirely female Wood Elf army. I did a wee bit of work on her last night, added some lines to the face and altering the color of the hair/foliage to a base for a fall scheme:

That's it for now. Thursday is local painting night, so hopefully I'll have a vehicle or some new troopers to show by the weekend. Cheers, everyone.

Well, I can't seem to stop my IG army from growing. I picked up 8 more Steel Legion troopers from a buddy locally, so now I can add these to the platoon cmd squad I'm building and move my list back to the way I ran it years ago; with two platoons - and anti-infantry focused one and an anti-tank focused one.

Started painting already:

Also got a test model for the Krieg mostly done:

Started painting on the Sentinel, and found a Seraphim that had escaped being finished with the rest. Now I have 11, so I can switch out Sister Superiors until I get another squad for the second sister to lead.

And that's that.

some cool stuff
i like the way the red cloth is done on the sisters...

just as a note (which you might already know and just chose to model it with the spear cuz its awesome looking): an eviscerator is basically a huge chainsword used to chop through armor (whether thats on a person or a tank is up to you )
but in any event, the sis with the spear is pretttty awesome looking...

Thanks! And yeah, I know an eviscerator is a 2-handed chainsword normally, but I thought a giant, double-bladed power-spear would do the same job!

Ok, the only thing I've gotten done recently is more work on the Medusae:

I added the braces on the sides - I wanted them to look like collapsible hydraulic braces to steady the tank when firing on uneven ground. I mean, it's a BIG cannon after all, don't wanna tip over! They snap on with magnets so I can take them off for play or storage if needs be.

Ok, I have slowly been painting up my sixth Steel Legion squad, but there's not much to show - just more layers of grey heading towards white! I also started painting my Space Hulk Blood Angels last week (no pics yet - they're just red again, after briefly being grey ), but I DID finally finish painting this tree woman I sculpted and cast for back when I was going to do an entirely female Wood Elf army:

It feels good to have this one done - it was a couple years ago I first sketched the idea, so it's been quite the journey!

Wow - long time since I've posted!

First things first, she is probably twice the height or more over the treeman. (I don't have one.) She is on the Monster sized base.

A little better pic:

Ok, now on to the updates! I've given up trying to keep track of what I have to paint, as I've started buying minis again, including getting hooked on infinity...

... working on some of my unfinished Tau...

...finishing up a Ogryn conversion...

...dusting off my Lizardmen for 8th edition ....

... and starting a small Ork army (god help me!)

I've also gotten real excited about collecting minis because I love the sculpts, and less excited of trying to build armies. The infinity fixation is very much foremost right now, as I absolutely love the models, and I am really enjoying the background and game also.

Right after infinity, my favorite models are coming out of the guys over at Troll Forged Miniatures.

I love this model! You can get her in the store under "Ganger" and she's going to be awesome to paint. A little tall (32mm) for 40k, but she'll probably end up in an infinity game or two.

And check out this Mongol Goblin: (Yes, that's right - MONGOBLIN!)

I also picked up this huge Lizardmen "Sun God" but no pics of that yet.

Alright, comments and crits welcome! Hopefully I'll be getting more regular painting time this summer. Cheers.

Thanks, dude!

Ok, massive round of updates. Most of these are all WIPs. I've been repainting my lizardmen, and working on some random minis. I did get back to working on the second Snow Cat patter chimera, so there are WIP pics for those who are curious about the construction.

Pics inbound!

Finished Drycha:

Working on repainting my Lizardmen:

Found an old sculpt for a Kroot Ox substitution and started working on it again:

Work in progress shot of the Snow Cat. It took me a while to remember how I had done it. The sides are cut down at the bottom and the wheels glued so they overlap so that the tank has the appearance of some suspension. The front and back of the hull are extended with plasticard.

My painting project rack:

There's a back side, too!

Details: Mon Goblin:

Building up the skin tones on the limited Fire Warrior, quite a nice model!

Really love this model from Troll Forged:

Can't wait to start painting more infinity models! I built 15 figures last night while wactching/listening to the Dresden Files. These are the models that started my fascination with Infinity years ago, and now I've finally bought them! I love the dynamic pose for the trauma doc, and the Orc armor is so cool. I remember seeing these and being blown away by how dynamic these models were, yet in a more exciting way than just screaming and pointing. I have to say, that's one of my favorite things about Infinity, is the deeper background of the game - almost more like an RPG than a battle game!

I haven't done anything to this guy yet, but I have a plan for inducting these AT-43 models into my guard army....

Ok, that's it for now. We'll see if I can finish some models this next week. Cheers!

Thanks! I find working on many projects at once keeps me relaxed and keeps it from becoming "worky". The Ogryn is actually in the 6th photo down, the back-view of the painting queue. He should look familiar if you are a fan of Mordheim:
