as i have dozens of unpainted metal mariens i was thinking about starting a new army.
but first of all there comes the search for a new colorscheme.
today i found some time and simply started painting one of those guys.
as this one is just for testing purpose, i didn't spend much time on painting it.
but i think to determine if it's a good scheme or not it should be sufficient.
.
what do you think about it?

thanks a lot ...
to be more precisely: this one took me little more than one hour.
i was searching for a scheme fast to apply and relatively easy to weather. this is why i chose bleached bone as basic color, as it is relatively bright and goes very well with gryphonne sepia on it.
if i'll decide to keep this scheme, i'm planing to include many more of these marine into that army:

.
i'm planing to add my remote comtrolled landraiders to that army, also. + 2 default rhinos without any major modifications.
maybe i'll manage to not to use any plastikminiatures to set up the infantry ...

I like the understated real world field a lot of the time I consider marines to bright bullet magnets. This is different and looks awesome!

I really like weathered armour! especially when it looks good, is that mud or rust on the bottom of the legs? the ground on the base looks too dry for it to be mud, so maybe you need to add some mud effects to the base?
very nice weathering technique plus a nice paintjob looks like a good base for a new army!
ps.how are the RC banblade tuts coming along i could use the help.
95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building, copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair & grab some popcorn and yell JUMP
BITCHES!!!!!
I like it...especially the weathering on the armor...
Maybe you can use some of the red colour on the bolter too...

I like it. The washed bone gives it a very aged ivory feel, which I think will fit very nicely with the multitude of snazzy metal minis you've got collected. I also second jester84's comment. I think adding the red from the shoulders onto the side casing of the bolter would spice up the gun a little and really flesh out the color scheme.

It looks beautiful except the gun. Guns aren't all metal! It pains my eyes to see all metal guns. Add some flavor to it. Paint the shell a different color!

There are plenty of guns that are all metal. Some just look like it and some truly are(at least on the outside). Either way when painting guns in a fictional setting you or anyone else can paint their guns all metal and not be outside the realm of the possible.

In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.
wow guys !!! thanks for all that feedback.
.
here's what i learned: i have to do something with the guncasings.
but i'm not quite sure what, yet.
therefore i decided to keep it as it is for the moment and add some other minis + a LR.
next i'll add a terminator and a robed marine. if that's done i'll take a group picture and than i think it will become relatively easy to determine which color to use for the weaponcasings ... - what do you think about that plan?...
.
btw: as this is a pretty simply scheme and quick to apply i made some progress:

How did you paint the "bone" color?? I like the fact that it plays into the yellow realm without being super yellow looking! I am thinking about doing Scythes f the emperor or possibly Imperial Fist and this shade you have achieved I think would look nice.

i totally agree.
first i started with many layers of drybrushing in the following order:
- thin adeptus battlegrey
- adeptus batlegrey + codey grey
- codex grey
- thin dheneb stone
- thin dheneb stone + bleched bone
- blechaed bine first layer
- bleached bone 2nd layer
- bleached bone details drybrush with smaller brush
...........
- 1 layer of gryphonne sepia
- details with gryphonne sepia applied with small brush

My Apothocary was painted very much the same way; but I went with blue for my SM scheme. Now I'm starting to wonder if I want to start again and go this way cause that landraider looks whicked! It would also blend my Space Marine army a little better with my Imperial Guard; but that's only beneficial for Apoc games.
"Of course I have, have you ever tried going insane with out power? It sucks! Nobody listens to you."
Bob that's a great scheme and nicely painted too. I agree with the comments about the green on the armour though. They look fine for the lenses, just not the blood drops.
Awesome, very clean paint job, i wish i was that good
