95% of the people playing it are utter morons who have zero rules knowledge and will quit on T1 because they failed all their Smoke Launcher saves.

Waste of bloody time installing it and I recommend people stay as far away as possible from it.

But about vassal though , some of the people playing on it might never have played warhammer before. And tries it to see how it is + for free.

I seriously disagree with Gwar.

I get in a game or two a day, against a wide range of people around the country and the world. From time to time, you *do* get into a game that breaks down because of rules problems. Not everyone has a thorough understanding of the rules. Others are used to house rules. Sometimes people get discouraged and quit if they're getting beaten on. I resigned a game on turn2 a week or two ago; I was getting monkey-stomped so badly that it was pointless to continue.

There's a TFG in every group of people. And to be fair...Gwar, you bring some some...interesting....points during games. Like when you told me that according to the rules RAW, I can't even play Dark Eldar because the army doesn't work. Or that RAW, I can't initiate an assault, because I'm only allowed to charge, which isn't allowed in the rules.

*laughing* Don't discourage people from getting on Vassal and playing 40k!

To anyone else; I'm Dashofpepper on Vassal; 95% of people there use Skype for voice chat to make things go faster. Download it, its free. TLOS is the only problem with the system because everything is crow's eye view and you can't get down at model level and look for line of sight.

And after a few sessions, you'll start building a friends' list on Skype and be able to find a game whenever you like without leaving the comfort of your home.

Came out wrong.. more of I'm trying to figure out how to use vassal for a game of 40k and this sounds like people just ditch after the first turn.

Also according to the version of the AoBR rulebook I've got the DE weapons are awesome, but the wave serpent has front armour 2 >_>

Gwar that guy was an idiot who didn't know when he was beaten. In general people on Vassal are good fun to play against. But like any online game you get the retards who don't know left from right. In the majority of cases you will have a good game. =D

Vassal has its uses. My friends and I use it to practice for our real games, and find all sorts of strange rules queries.

On the subject of Vassal, I had a game just today in which I think I made more 5+ Invul Saves than I did 2+ armour saves. It was great.

My pc is without internet right now (im on a mac) does any one know if there is vassal for mac?
Also no one should skip out on a game if they are losing thats just wrong...

I'm in favour of Vassal, too. I played quite a few games until now and had only one game where we had to stop because of serious rules arguing. In the vast majority of the games, everything was going rather well - I don't count oen or two small (!) rules discussions per game as a problem. Especially on vassal, where it's hard when it comes to TLOS issues.

It's a great way to test armies and have a quick game with your friends without needing to carry the whole bunch of plastic a few kloms to another house.


Although sometimes I'm accusing the vassal dice of being even more unfriendly than the real ones...

Nah, that's just the current version someone was posing in the vassal chat. It's the same, just makes people go into a different server room

IMO Vassal is great, it givs you the chance to play if you cannot go to a gaming store or something. If you dont want to use it, is up to you, but let the others xD

You think this is unique to Vassal? People quite competitive multiplayer games all the time, and this is why multiplayer is gak. Play against friends. They won't quit on you the moment they're about to lose.

Vassal is fine, you just have to pay attention to who decide to play with.
