So i decided I wanted to post up pics of my renegade guard army. Its taken quite a bit of money and time converting (filing off the aquilas made my fingers hurt :/) and this is the fruits of my labor thus far!

Baneblade





This guy came built when I bought it (some guy at my FLGS hurting for cash). I wish I'd taken more time with it before I basecoated it... I used tons of spikes, some WOC banners, a few slanesh chaos banners, and some gargoyle heads and a couple carnifex heads. I'm overall happy with the look, but wish I'd taken time to file off the aquilas on the tires :( The shrine in back is going to be boarded up using popsickle sticks when I'm finished.

Heavy Weapons Squads

Lots of iron pig heads and some Beast of Chaos heads for converts. Also used some bits off of tanks and things to give them all unique and dynamic feels. Some of the poses are stale tho :(

Valkyries/Vendettas


The grey ones a WIP, gonna use green stuff to make the tyranid thinggers (no idea what they are, spawning pools maybe?) look more nurgly. I love the overall look, the soulgrinder claw on front makes it look kind of like an earwig All weapons are magnetized on both, the red ones not that heavily converted.

Chimeras


I broke the antennas off the tanks because they kept bending :/ lots of Skaven/Chaos bits used. I have one more I bought that was painted, so I'll work on converting it

Sentinels


All scout sentinels, took a LOT of time posing and converting these. You can't really tell but I used skulls/zombie heads for all the pilots. They look very chaosy!

Medusa


A simple conversion, though some would argue the guns not "bulky" enough. I cut down a lisk cannon and positioned it to look like its shooting straight. I used my last little but of GS to make a "maw" on the cannon tip. The rest were a combo of chaos bits, come leftover IG bits (missiles, etc.) and some heads from the valkyrie kit.

Leman Russes

The Demolisher one has a main turret magnetized, the other one was converted from a LR I got in a trade (rider still needs a head tho). I didn't do TOO much conversion work on them.

Troopers






Rank and file troopers! Lots of iron pig heads, BOC heads, and TONS of IG command squad respirators. This took a good bulk of my time lol.... but the overall product looks good I think.

I still have 1 more Basilisk kit I'll be converting to a Manticore (if I can ever get ahold of another defiler body), 1 more LRBT that needs converting, and some ratlings, a catachan w/ demo pack I use as marbo (marbos model sucks), and some other stuff thats still in work.

C&C is always welcome, and new ideas for converting would be great I have some forgeworld renegade kits inbound to make my psykers/officer of the fleet and some other things, but I will probably do 1 more medusa, 1 chimera, 1 more LR demolisher, and probably another valkyrie before I'm satisfied with the armies size. Yeah, it is lol. But once I get the black camo lines I think it will matte out some (or at least look less glossy).... thats the hope anyway! I'll be basing the rest of the army black, cuz I agree, that red is a bit... ew. I'll probably go to walmart and pick up a matte krylon red (the guy there told me that red was matte... liar lol)

Dude, that is one of the coolest thing I've ever seen, especially the Baneblade. The new head for the gaurds men is also a fantastic touch, I can't wait to see it when it's painted. Good job man

Yeah you do that (but i don't think you should do it white).

I like that red - for a base.

Now, tape off some Chaos symbols across the entire chassis, then spray them with a rusty brown or a dark grey. Peel the tape and drybrush accordingly and you are golden. It is an easy way to make an army really pop.

Just an idea.

I always though the DevilDog (?) would be a great renegade weapon.

Not sure if that's the right one, but it's the one that shoots ap3 poison gas. That's a nurgle-cannon if I ever heard one.

Great modelling so far dude, love the stars on the valk intakes, that's really cool.

I'm going with the black/gold army idea, I went and got the krylon tonight. I also got my forgeworld renegade psykers and bodies in! yay! I'll post pics of em either tonight/tomorrow and probably base coat most of the army tonight. Also, I converted another sentinel and ordered a defiler body to made a "demon" Manticore/Medusa from (his battlecannon chest I'll use as a medusa cannon).

Looks like a very promising start. Lots of nice touches on the vehicles.

I converted an old FW Shadowsword for my IW a whiel ago.

Dont board up the shrine! It is too nice a place to defile! I painted it all nice and clean, then covered it in rust adn grime. Finally i built a commisar from left over IG tank crew bits, riddled him with bullet holes and crucifies him between the exhaust stacks using razor wire! It orked out really well. You might need to drilla little hoel to feed the wire through though.

Forge world psykers! (1 is missing, my buddy accidently took it when we played last sunday)


1 squad of forge world renegades. I converted meltas using melta tips from old metal catachans and grenade launchers



Newly converted renegades! Used skeleton heads and ghoul heads for the conversions. They turned out rather well!





Pics of my manticore/Medusa. I magnetized the missiles, but the magnets were too small on 2 of them so they don't come off :/ Anyways, I can use this model to play as a medusa or a manticore depending on my list! Just pull off the two missiles up top and say its a medusa, or reattach them to make it a manticore. this conversion turned out really nice!

The skeleton guard look good. I wonder if I could make an entire army like that. The vehicles are nice too, the only I can think of is try to remember to adequately defile the imperial insignia.
