Subject: Future of Space Marine models? Major design over haul?

For the past few codice for the Space Marine , and now currently Space Wolf , we have seen a significant change in how Marines look.
Their proportions are way different which leads to conversions of real size marines (?)
I have been holding off getting new Space Marine related models due to i want my army to look like they do in the art works.
Anyone else think they'll change the style anytime soon?
Do you like the new styles?
For example , not sure if it started with this picture:
Current updated look ( slender limbs , straight back. less of the hunched back look )

I personally like the direction in which GW is steering the design of Space Marines. However before they start radically changing designs, I believe they should really work close with the fan base.
I also feel they need to extend other model ranges [ie. Orks or Chaos Space Marines].

I doubt they'll significantly change any time soon. No rumors to support it.
Plus, there would be so much to redo.
If we lived in magical-perfect land, GW would redesign them to be true scale, but I don;t see that happening. i'd personally like it, but I think many more competitive players wouldn't like it, what with TLoS.

The Legion of the Damned aren't radically different than regular Marines. They even reused legs from Sternguard models. I really don't see any sort of overhaul happening anytime soon for Marines. They've got a good, iconic look right now that isn't going anywhere. It's just been refined over the last 18 years or so since those 2nd edition metal/plastic hybrid Marines came out.

I don't know if this is just me but when I open my first box of SW I noticed they seem a lot less hunched over. I not sure exactly what they've changed but the don't look like they have such short necks and oversized shouldersl

Don't give them any ideas to bend us over for any more money! lol
All joking aside, a revamp of SM would entail revamping the biggest line they offer, not going to happen.

It's Space Marines, the only thing guarenteed to get upgrades They might not do it all at once, but if they do it will probably be slowly changed. Although other races are in greater need of new models than the marines.

The space marine parts of plastic are all compatible and a lot of the space marine releases were reused parts when it comes to design and sizes. Example: space wolf termie thunderhammers are just normal termie TH with more wolfishness.
Identical size and pose.
The LoD is a different thing, they are not meant to share poses with standard plastic kits.
So no, there may be not an overhaul for the whole line.
Maybe an updated design for the metal-to-plastic models.

Honestly I haven't noticed a chance in the way GW does Marines at all. The Woofs and LotD guys are usually standing up straight, giving them an extra few mm of height, but otherwise they look the same to me.

There does seem to be a move towards having Marines stand up straighter and stop squatting, which makes them a little more impressive height-wise. It's probably not going to be a drastic re-design so much as a gradual process as they get around to different kits, though.

The non-squatting legs are my favourite part of the new SW kit, hands down. I also noticed a slight difference (for the better, IMO) in the helmet design, and I don't just mean the studs/gilding/wolftails. And possibly even minutely smaller shoulderpads.

The older marine shoulder pad were bigger , but way thinner , and very droopy.
Now they look like they are actually armor than sheets hanging off the shoulder.

Have you seen the predecessor that that? I have one, and the current Dreadnought models are still phenomenal by comparison.

The "walking forward" pose was hardly ever done until now. It makes models seem a lot taller.

There's the running legs from the Assault Marine sprues, then there's all the Chaos Space Marine legs.
The Grimaldus model, on the other hand, has the stumpiest set of legs south of a [redacted by the Inquisition].

The new wasp-wasted Terminators might be a better example of the redesign. After years of hunchbacked, tubby Termies, I'm still getting used to em.

This is a term that has always really bugged me, I think the more appropriate term would be "big scale" since making your marines slightly larger only makes the size of vehicles even WORSE, and it puts them out of proportion with most other races, there's nothing really true about it in my eyes.

I find it interesting that a Catachan probably wouldn't fit in power armour...
I like the human proportions on the SM models (just make them taller, goddamn it) but I think they should have a hulkier torso and thicker arms.
As for "hunched backs"... NO! They should STRIDE into battle!

The running legs give a very different feel to the new SW ones (I should point out that some of them are squatting too), and the chaos legs started life as imperial legs, they're squatting too.
