My WIP for a Cities of Death board I'm working on. Not much to show about the board right now, but here's a shot of a WIP Basicilia Administratum (sp?) with my Cadians defending it. Sorry for crappy angles, I took 11 pictures and these are the only ones that didn't turn out blurry for some reason.

I hated the skull-littered windows, so that's why there's the funky sand stuff in the windows. Will probably chip that out, because it looks even worse than the skulls did. Or maybe I'll cut some plasticard to cover it up.

Inquisitor Liam Ducard (will probably end up using a different figure by the way) directs the troops from the relative safety of the balcony.

C&C welcome, I'll try and update weekly, or at least monthly. This project will take a while.

Looks like your off to a good start! How are you planning to make the board itself?

The ruin is actually lying on the board itself. It's basically 2 sides of a city seperated by a canal. Most likely there will be a bridge at one end

There's a lot of potential here. I don't really like all the skulls everywhere, either. It would be nice if GW made the skull covered windows an add-on bit, instead of making the window like that. Oh well.
I really like the way your setting up the city. I'd like to suggest, tho, a second or third story foot bridge going over the canal, somewhere away from the bridge at one end.
I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers guys

@ Alpharius, I have never played a game except for 1 or 2 at a GW, but this board is going to be about 4x4 feet. Sorta small, but I'll be playing with 500 point armies, and if I ever get into bigger games I'll add on.

@ The Good Green. Thanks. Glad someone agrees with me. I told a guy at a GW that I didn't like the skulls and he (sorta jokingly, sorta not jokingly) told me I was a heretic, which I didn't get. Though I'm not sure I get you 100% on a foot bridge, sorry.

Skulls are a big theme in the Imperium, thusly not liking them is not liking the Imperium as a whole. HERETIC!!

Lol. But yeah man from how the building looks I'm really anticipating the board. And 4x4 is actually quite large for a cities of death game. Well... not large but not... small... if you get my meaning?

Am I do die by firing squad or purging flame?

I think I get you. So much dang cover that the big space isn't really necessary

DEATH BY INQUISITORIAL MEANS which include but are not limited to: [removed by order of the Inquisition]. So yeah it can be pretty bad.

I'd put some supports under that balcony. It looks like it'll tip over any moment.

The building looks great.....what color's did you use to paint it?
I am also thinking about starting on a 4x4 city board as well. I will keep on eye on your blog.

I think he meant the balcony looked weak in a "my mini's take a face plant" way and not in a "cool looking building" way.

I like it so far. Very nice. 4 X 4 is a good start for a city board. You get a lot of bang for your buck on a city board. PLus, you can always expand to 4 x 6 later by adding on.

Good work!

@Ivyoda, it was as follows:
Drybrush Khemri Brown
Drybrush Codex Grey/Chaos Black 70/30
Drybrush Codex Grey
Drybrush Fortress Grey
Very light drybrush of Skull White

Support beams I don't remember. Some crazy combination of Shining Gold, Chaos Black, Scorched Brown and 1 or 2 other colors, with Chainmail added for drybrushes.

Skulls were drybrushes of Mithril Silver and Skull White.

The pictures make it look a different color than it is in real life
