So as many chaos lovers complain, there are no legion specific chaos space marine codecies. My question is why? Does GW just not want to keep up with more codecies? They just didnt want to? I feel as though there should be some reason as to why, since there is enough desire for them. And it cannot be due to lack of fluff to make codecies from, so does anybody know why?

After what they did to the Choas codex, do you really want them to attempt a legion codex?

Once you narrowed things down to a single category i dont think they would slaughter it too bad. And you never know what gw will do. Could be good, could be bad. I think they did a pretty good job with the tyranid codex. I would rather see an attempt than nothing at this point.

The Legions of Chaos may have some of the most rich, bountiful, and interesting stories in the entire 40k but I think GW has always viewed them as a tertiary army like Imperial Guard, Eldar, and Inquisition/Witch Hunter Forces, basically putting them on the back burner. They're there when you need them and an essential part of the 40k Universe but not meriting an extreme specialized set of Codices for the 5th Edition. Its just one of those things.

I think however that 40k has finally reached a good edition that GW can get off their and revise EVERY army book. If a Legions Book were to be released, I'm pretty sure we'd slap every army out there. Keep the (dark) faith!

I know its a sore point, but Chaos list are better served by using the SW codex at the current time.

I truly do miss the 3.5 Dex, as does my IW playing friend.

Im not necessarily saying lets go back to the old codex. As they were quite awesome, but im wondering why the change to something so bland?

With all the different chaos legions diversity, even without making things more complex, would at least give chaos depth.

If anything i would like to see the old legions reborn with new ideas and balance. Or even better lets focus on what we have. Make a world eaters legions based around bezerkers and a death guard book based around plauge marines. Then GW could introduce new models, units, concepts, and ideas. But i think the real drawback is it profitable for GW? I certainly think it is, but im no expert on the situation.

They said they're planning on one in the future, and that they'd love to do one. No word on when it'll happen or hell, even if it will happen.

I'm still waiting on that alien hunters codex that was supposed to go with witch hunters and daemon hunters.

I dont think the daemon codex is bad. Its very bland, but its not broken by any means, compared to say daemon hunters. Much of their codex is broken and useless. Ex Chaos daemons only have few units such as the beast of nurgle and furies which both seem to have almost no useable purpose.

With the Terrible jobs of realizing unique identity, flavor and power in the last two specialized Marine books - I expect individual legion books to be total hack jobs.

GW is so busy makeing offshoots of the SM dex that nobody but the brainwashed fanboys want in the first place to make anything else.

I believe you've done a good job of covering the points of a potential Legions Codex in your discussion of Daemons.
