so i suffer from a pretty acute chemical sensitivity. i get terrible headaches and insomnia if i am exposed to super glue and alot of other things pretty common to this hobby. are there any alternatives that people know, to be able to do modelling without a lot of exposure? anyone else have this problem? should i just farm out the gluing to a friend, and kick him some money for his trouble?

You could always stick to buying single-piece models I suppose. Pretty crappy condition you've got there.

yeah, well to let everyone know, it may be that EXPOSURE to these kinds of chemicals itself cause/contributed to this condition. so i recommend everyone do their best to limit their own exposure to avoid this problem.

rocket odourless

might be worth doing a google as it seems that odourless CA glues are used in with some cosmetics so may be easier to get hold of and presumably have little if any irritants

If you have trouble finding suitable glues, it may be worth investing in a gas mask that filters out the solvent (i.e. not a builders mask that just filters out dust), then doing your gluing with lots of ventilation or outside with latex gloves. You may look daft, but if you're like me and actually enjoy assembling models then it would be worth it

I'm sure most of us here glue without adequate ventialation so I'll also echo your warning

You could always get a charcoal resperator from home depot. I use them at my work (autobody shop), im constantly around alot of very stronge chemicals. It stops almost everything from getting into your lungs.

When it is very cold outside I have to srapy inside my garage. I use a filtered resparator mask from Lowes. It was $45 and works great. Do not go cheap if you have these issues, trust me.
